- The Astros want Vladimir Guerrero Jr, but is it possible? Why Yes, Why No & what the trade might have to look like.
#guerrerojr #astros #mlbtraderumors
No way Astros are trading Loperfido.
I would trade cabbage,
But right now loperfido, meyers,
Salazar, every even the new pitchers are working… if they disamble this after the team finally seems to be working I’ll be pissed off
Vlad jr is a generational talent and he's 24
Hes good
I wouldn't say "no way".
@mataloce Meyers and Loperfido are going nowhere, McCormick is 100% trade bait but he would be a piece in a much larger trade
Joey looerfido is really good and we need him! It would really hurt to add him in the trade package
Not if you’re getting one of the highest upside players in return.
@@mike-0451 highest upside? Guerrero is a good player but only has 2 years left on his contract. Loperfido was crushing it in AAA and is doing really good with the Astros. He will be a star in the MLB. Defensively he is amazing as well and would be bad to let him go for Guerrero. Maybe we can give them someone else
@@victortrevino5880nope we got him and kept vladdy 😂
We rather have Dubon play in 1st 😅
That’s not a joke. Vlad Def is horrible. he rates in the 4th percentile for range! He is also not all that great at picking throws. Absolute worst first baseman in the league. Give me Dubby Doo.
Why?
Aachen having Vlad on are team
The Astros need pitching, not Guerrero. He's a good player but I don't know if the Astros want to further deplete their farm system. At this point, need to focus on needs versus wants.
I'm not so sure they have a full rotation on the injured list if they wait it out a bit they will potentially get back McCullers or Garcia
I bet Meyers or McCormick is in the deal if it happens. Plus the GM for Toronto is the Astros ex GM.
It will never happen..Astros need these pitchers down the road. They don’t need this too much to offer for a rental.. if you want to upgrade something. , trade for the pitcher Crochet and offer the two pitchers plus the SS prospect Mathews. That would be a trade worth making.
@@scottyc1093Meyers isn't getting traded, McCormick definitely
They need pitching and that's the priority, but the Astros have also been playing without the production that Jose Abreu was supposed to give them in the middle of the order. He was acquired to hit cleanup and we never got that production out of him. Guys that really shouldn't hit in the middle of the order are hitting there right now. Peña hit cleanup for a while, but he's not even a power hitter and should not have been placed there at all. Espada also tried Meyers. Meyers should not be hitting in the middle period. Dubon should not be hitting in the middle either. Dubon should not even be an everyday player on this team. Right now they are down Tucker and Jose Abreu's back of the baseball card production, so he should play, but otherwise, he is a utility player for the team. For whatever reason, before Tucker went down, Tucker was hitting 2nd. Why rotate all these other guys to experiment with them in the cleanup spot when the entire baseball world knows that Tucker can hit cleanup. Espada could be filling in that void as best as he can with the guys that he has, until they can fill that spot, but he didn't for a while. I will never understand Espada's insistence on hitting Tucker 2nd. He was leading the league in HRs and was one of the best hitters in baseball and going to the plate with no RISP, leading off innings, hitting solo HRs, getting walked, etc. He should have been hitting cleanup and Peña 2nd. Peña won ALCS/WS MVP hitting 2nd and has career stats hitting in that spot. Espada then turned to Diaz at cleanup and Diaz is doing a good job, but he really should hit lower in the lineup right now, 6th hopefully if the acquire another hitter who can hit cleanup. The priority is pitching, but they do need to fill that hole in the lineup too.
Astros farm system is far too thin for such a move. They can't afford to send away players who could be with them for 10 years in exchange for 1 who will be here a year and a half.
Loperfido better not be going anywhere, vladdy is not worth that package
@@Jfratt13agree.
@@Jfratt13 keep who? Loperwhat???
Vlad is 25 and is twice the player Loperfido is. If you think he will get back to 2021 levels, he's 4 times the player Loperfido is.
@@shawnuel yeah and Vlad is making close to 20 mil and only has one more year before he’s a UFA. He only produced two war a year ago and has 1.7 war so far this year. That’s slightly better production than we gotten out of Jake meyers. He young and has potential but he ain’t worth trading away a guy who has sown flashes that we have five years worth of club control on. That’s dumb.
@@shawnuel loperfido seems to have a high ceiling and I don’t think giving him and 2 other prospects up for a 1 and a half seasons with Vlad is worth it
I don't see why the Astros just don't sign Brandon belt
Joey isn't getting traded
Is*
If they don't think they can re-sign Tuck, Joey L has to stay put.
Houston ain’t trading Lope or bloss lol lope is their future left fielder! They’ll give up Chas or Myers
That’s what we like to see 🤑🤑 Vladdy would fit so well at first. And once all of our pitching is back.. World Series bound
Would we be able to get Grayson Rodriguez and Ryan Mountcastle from the Orioles?
@@SuperiorPanda27nah the orioles are pretty good, and I don’t think there gonna sell
Bregman is staying, he wants money but also wants to win. His Astros Jersey is one of the highest grossing in Houston history. The astros have no interest in a 1b unless they can get him cheap. The front office wants starting pitching. That way when the injured starters come off IL, they have major trade inventory.
Astro's would have a better chance trading for Santander vs trading for Vlad.
we don’t need outfield, also why would the orioles trade him??? clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about
As an Astros fan, I speak against trading Joey loperfido and my further input is you will never rip the sweet swinging king from our organization. Thank you for your time.
Vlaccy is on pace for 18 whopping HR's. He is not in a position to call his shots.
Astros don't have the farm to get Vlad
Apparently they do if Jim just put a trade together lol he wouldn't B.S. around if their was nothing in a teams farm system that would make sense to trade a star for
I agree
They got some guys surprisingly
@@corybabcock4263yeah he would. He makes money regardless
If they were to trade for him it would leave their farm useless but they have a guy named Jake bloss, joey loperfido and brice matthews aswell as Jacob melton who is a top 100 prospect. All of those guys have very good potential
That would be a tough trade, for both teams. Not out of the realm of possibilities, but unlikely.
I highly doubt the Houston Astros will be able to pull this off they need pitching more than anything and they don't have anything to give up
The most realistic package would be blubaugh, will wagner, and pedro leon or trey cabbage . No way they trade loperfido considering he's been a big league contribution to the club. And you gotta be smoking the good stuff if you think theyre going to trade matthews after letting drew gilbert go last year.
The Astros problems aren't offensive. It's middle relief pitching. Sure, a first baseman would be great but I don't see it as an area of great need.
The Astros would have him for next year, and they’d probably extend him on the spot.
Astros fan here: I would give up the SPs but not Loperfino. I would trade either of Chaz or Meyers. If they would take on Abreu's contract then for sure I'd send Joey also.
I'm an Astros fan, and Loperfido has to be untouchable unless it's for someone with 3+ years of control. He's our only really good hitting prospect who's MLB ready, and Bregman and Tucker are both leaving in the next 2 seasons, Vladdy just doesn't do enough to make sense to trade someone like Loperfido for.
Baseball Trade Values was great at the beginning but now the expirience is laughable. Middle of May was the last time I visited the site.
Like you said the money for Bregman will be off the books, so the Vladdy cost is a wash. You gotta make this happen without losing Bryce Mathew’s and if that means losing JLo or McCormick I’m fine with that.
your trade is no deal for me, not giving up jake bloss or joey loperfido..nope, nada, zilch. I have bad thoughts still of what could have been great 1b. We should be fine with platooning 1b, don't break the karma now.
Astros fan here: I'd rather keep the prospects and say no to VG. Maybe as a free agent after next season if he's still available, since the astros might not keep Tucker since he wants a 10 year contract, and the astros won't go there!!!
It would take Loperfido to make this trade work. So this all comes down to whether the Astros are willing to let him go. There's no guarantee that Vlady stays after 2026.
To me it's Melton, Gordon, and Whitcomb. You get value but you get the number 1 Astros prospects. Given the Astros need pitching, they wont trade Bloss and Blubaugh right now
If that’s all you give up…as an Astros fan I say DO IT!
From what's been rumored Toronto good interest in Meyers and then probably a prospect. If that's the case Vlady is good as gone.
The Astros outfield is crowded.
I don't want a first baseman. I see Singleton as a good guy there. Dubon is able to cover it too. We won't trade Loperfido if we have 2 brain cells. Bregman is not leaving. He wants to be an Astro for life, by his own admission. He just wants to get paid and he will.
Are you joking Singleton sucks they need to D.A.F him and let Doubon play 1st everyday
@@robertgarcia2102 Singleton has been consistent at bat and relatively solid defensively. I watch literally every game. Regardless, we need starting pitching. Not a first baseman. Today's game is going to be nothing but bullpen just to prove my damn point.
I agree that pitching is the priority, but Jose Abreu was acquired to hit cleanup/in the middle with the Astros. The Astros have been missing that production in that spot of the lineup since he basically joined them. This season, since Espada has insisted on hitting Tucker 2nd and Alvarez 3rd (he finally took Alvarez out of the 2 spot), we had no cleanup hitter that had been successful there until he put Yainer there. Prior to Yainer, he had used Bregman, who wasn't hitting. He then used Peña and Meyers who were never going to succeed there and rotating everyone plus the kitchen sink there hurt the team because he used guys who did not belong there. Meyers, Peña, Dubon, Singleton, ....should not hit in the middle of the order. Peña's splits do show that he can hit 2nd and 6th, otherwise 8th. The rest of the guys need to hit 7th or below. Diaz should really hit 6th. Think about it, if Tucker was in the lineup and Jose Abreu would have worked out, Diaz would be 6th. They do need to address that hole in the lineup. Even Bagwell admitted this when Abreu was released:
"Four, five, six in the lineup or five, six, whatever, that's where Jose needed to hit, and it just didn't work out. That's what's hard is because we still have to find RBIs."
What he means when he says that they still need to find RBI is that he is talking about the hole that they have in the middle that Abreu never gave the team. They need to address that hole, but if they do, Bagwell needs to stay the hell out of it. Otherwise, Singleton is not going to be enough at 1st. They need a permanent solution. Singleton is not it
@joshdudeguy2830
We are not going to trade Joey!!!
I listened a radio hit by this Schwab person and he was talking about how a return could consist of guys like McCormick, Jake Meyers & prospects. As a Jays fan my head would explode if I saw Chas McCormick or Jake Meyers + other stuff coming back. I agree that this current Jays front office would want MLB or near ready MLB talent back but fans would be livid dealing Vlad without any sort of blue chip/top 100 guy coming back. If I'm ownership, Ross Atkins is a goner & any move like this is for the next GM. The Astros system ain't it for a Vlad trade and I'd greatly prefer Bo being traded to the Dodgers who can offer far more compelling players.
I don’t think a guy who’s produced over 4 war once in his career and over 3 war only twice who is 1.5 years away from UFA is worth a blue chip prospect. The dude produced 2 war a year ago and he’s on pace for 3.8 this year. Plus he makes 20 mil. Nah. Y’all can keep him.
The prospects would include guys who are a step above even the best blue jays prospect. Melton and Bloss are hot commodities. 50 hit, 55 power, 65 run, 55 field (which is actually way undervalued; he’s probably a 70 field at least.)
Bloss is someone you’ve heard of. The real question is whether Vlad is even worth one of those guys and major leaguers. The clincher is Vlad’s upside. Whether or not the Astros think they can help him get there is the risk.
@@mike-0451 After all the Jays invested in their team with payroll & with the massive outlay of $ ownership has put into stadium renovations...and to see it flop so badly...the GM here is on super thin ice. While they could secure more in a trade now as opposed to the offseason, I can't foresee a scenario where ownership (a communications giant in Canada & a company sensitive to customer dissatisfaction) would allow Atkins to trade the face of the franchise. And even if they let him do it, are the Astros alone in the bidding here? They'd still have to outbid other teams (ie: the Mariners need bats & have a loaded system). And shouldn't the Astros be using assets for starting pitching?
No sir !! He aint work it imo...ill pass on him..i think we can add a mid rotation pitcher whom can be also contribute a 6th starter as well imo. From another team..no to Vlad
This trade does nothing for the Astros, they need pitching!!!
No pitching prospects, you can have Loper and McCormick for him, thats it.
As a Jays fan (my main team) and an Astros fan (my second favorite team, because of my dad), I'd love this
Stick it to the Yankees
I'm not buying it, they need pitching depth, a reliable back end starter/long reliever type who could eat some innings and take some pressure off the other arms would be great!
If you think the Jays are selling Vlad you're clueless. It's not happening.
Bloss just got hurt and loperfido has been a huge spark for Houston. They weren’t trading w
I’d do that trade if I was the Astros front office
Before I even watch we cannot trade Joey loperfiido. I like Guerrero but Joey needs to be close to untouchable.
Don’t trade Vlad or Bo. Ship off all the guys on a one year contract. Resign Jansen and let the young guys keep playing
Yes please 🙏 Another bat ❤ Vlad
Lol that looks like a trade package for a number 4 starter and you expect them to give up Vlad for it?
Jake Bloss threw a no hitter in AA while having an era under 2 and just skipped AAA to head to the big leagues.
I get he’s got a big name and had one great year but he’s produced over 4 war once in his career and over 3 war only twice and is 1.5 years away from UFA. He ain’t the shining new toy anymore. I don’t think he’s worth these prospect with years of club control. The dude produced 2 war a year ago and he’s on pace for 3.8 this year. Plus he makes 20 mil. No thanks. Yankees love dudes like this. Send him there.
Why? Quality pitching is their biggest need right now.
It's trade bait. They need pitching over a fielder, and his agent is trying to get a pay hike. It would be foolish for the Astros to trade Loperfido for anything else but a solid arm for the starting rotation. Why they continue to keep McCullers on the roster is what has many of us talking. The Astros need pitching and not fielding.
No to Loperfido. Offer them McCullers, Garcia and Urquidy. Throw in Verlander.
Outta ur mind on those 3 guys
Maybe Pedro Leon & Shane Whitcomb…or blubaugh & Whitcome…or melton straight up
The trade will include no less than Bloss, Loperfido, Melton, one or two major leaguers and another intriguing minor league pitcher and maybe even another hitter depending on how much leverage they have. Guerrero is not HLP. If he was HLP we might be taking about his 3rd MVP already but because his barrel path is so inefficient, all he does is slap it into the ground or pop it up. Astros do not (and no other MLB teams, for that matter), teach HLP. A trade will not fix him. He will have to seek out someone who teaches it (hopefully Frank Valdez) in order to make this trade fruitful.
There’s no way the astros could trade Joey but maybe other players could get traded
Yea it’s not happening. They don’t make trades like this. Verlander was the one exception
Joey needs to learn how to hit in the bigs, so far not terrible but not so good. He was tagged has a long ball hitter coming up.
Bergman is not walking
I think the Mariners could make a better package for him then the Astros
I don’t see the Jays trading Vlad Bo is more likely than Vlad to be traded
I would love to see a video of you talking about how you would do the Jays retool
if you want a video suggestion
Love the contact by the way
Their gm literally said Bo & Vlad aren't for sale
@@Rye-jl2fk don’t believe what he says. He’s just saying that to save face if he gets a good offer, he will accept it for one of them.
We haven't had very good luck with players from other teams. Josh Hader isn't as good as Ryan Pressly. Why don't we just play with the players we have?
Absolutely not....Bloss and Blubaugh have lots of upside. Pitching wins championships! Astros just need to figure out the 1B with less draft assets or/and give Loperfido those 1st base reps. Why not give Shay Whitcomb a try too, if offense is the biggest lacking factor, he is tearing it up in AAA; hopefully, it translates to the majors.
Man, The Asstors really got less punishment for cheating and winning than Bauer for being accused and found not guilty.
weird comparison brother
we need middle relief, vlad would be nice but not a smart idea
The Astros getting rid of loperfido would be insane!!!
With all due respect, the proposed trade doesn’t make any sense for the Astros. Vlad has underperformed for the last two seasons, and the Astros are not about to part ways with their best young hitter. I think a vladdy for singleton, blubaugh and one of meyers or mcccormick is the most likely
I think it’s more smoke than fire
Astros need to go get Trevor Bauer.
Ha. I think it’s unfair what happened to him but I know why they won’t.
People here saying we need pitching 😂 c’mon now every one injured we’ll be ok when they come back/ we need to give up everything to get this guy in which case giving up draft picks/maybe old out fielders including singleton to go along with cash considerations
Vlad to Houston is a win for Houston but Toronto this is a L unless the Jays are going to rebuild now.
Would Baltimore trade J Holliday to the Jays for Vladdy if Vladdy agreed to an extension?
no way the jays trade vlad
I was thinking if they do consider trading him, trade him to Baltimore for J. Holliday….?
Trade chaz. Presley, montero, singleton ,
It's not going to happen. Even if the Astros could find the trade capital, they wouldn't take on the contract.
i hope they get him, but i dont wanna lose loperfido
So would you trade McCormick instead I mean I would not trade for vlad
I don't want him with the Astros a team wins ball games not just one player
So many Astros fans thinking Loperfido is better than he actually is. Loperfido is so overrated.
Keep Loperfido out of the trade and anyone from the major league roster
Bo is the one getin traded
Why!!!!!! We need pitching!!!!
Are you shitting me!?😮
They need a bat, lots of games lost this season when only scoring 3 or less. Need an rbi guy. I’d dangle chas not JLo
We need Vladdy
you really think Breggy is walking? I'd rather give em Chaz than Loperfido, or 2 top triple a players along with those pitchers. I think we have the means to do it without hurting ourselves in the future. Last time I saw Vlad play he seemed lackadaisical and kinda egocentric and ended up making stupid errors on defence and baserunning. Might go away with maturity and a championship team but that's why I'm 50/50 if the price is right.
The only person that should be traded is Ross Atkins......
i would hate to lose Loprefido but i get you gotta give up talent to get talent an the Astros have OF depth
Agreed, Loperfido is kind of a luxury considering their #1 prospect Jacob Melton is also an outfielder and he's a top 100 prospect as well
At the same time, you’re probably gonna get a bigger package if you sell bow, then you sell black strictly because of the position shortstops or more in need in the game because I have more responsibility than that matter than a first baseman and it’s not like he’s putting his monster numbers lately, so that’s why his values down Limited he more a dh then first baseman on top of that
Astros will not pay what he is worth. I doubt this is serious.
I don’t think a guy who’s produced over 4 war once in his career and over 3 war only twice who is 1.5 years away from UFA is worth these prospect with years of club control. The dude produced 2 war a year ago and he’s on pace for 3.8 this year. Also, Vlad Def is horrible. he rates in the 4th percentile for range so 96% of professional ball is better than him. He is also not all that great at picking throws. Absolute worst Defensive first baseman in the league. Plus he makes 20 mil. Nah. Y’all can keep him.
As a yankees fan pls no, so how about one of Waldo, peraza, or Pereira, plus Warren and Selvedge. Yay or nay?
Straight Tucker for Vladdy. If they’re imminent on wanting a first baseman. I don’t wanna loose Tuck but to save our prospects, yes.
Joe Rogan dropped 22 billion videos all at once, and that almost caused me to miss this video, clogging my feed
No way dude we are not giving 🎉anyone Joey L. And 2 😮really good young pitchers for Jose Abru 2 ain’t happening
Facts I feel the same way if he comes here
Thade the coach, not the players 😂😂
PLEASE GOD NO!!! DONT LET GUERRERO GO TO THE TRASHTROS!!! 👎🤦♂️🗑️
I do believe it’s funny that this is the same organization three month 34 months ago all defense and we were talking about signing Ohtani to a massive deal and everybody goes to all that you’re part of that deal but 3 to 5 months later you’re talking about how you guys can’t afford to keep your top two players financially it’s kind of interesting
Way too much for those three! We need to stop selling the farm. Develop some young players.
That trade is a massive underpay. It would take probably Mathews, Luperfido, and a pitching prospect.
JLO no way .
YES GIVE US VLADDY DADDY
Keep him. The Yankees don't need him to be sensitive
Rangers need Vlad more then Astros
if they give us Tucker and take Springer back i guess
Negatory ghost rider.
