I have been sewing garment since 1965 approximately. I had no idea. This is brilliant. I’m teaching a friend right now to sew and we are going to learn this one early for her. Thank you so very much.
This was such an amazing game changer when you showed us a while back! Thanks for the more detailed lesson this time. It’s an amazing technique. THANK YOU!!!!❤
I used your technique (from earlier videos) for making tea towels out of some soft Japanese cotton. They turned out beautiful, everyone was amazed at "my" sewing ability! Thanks.
❤ You always share your amazing tips with us. I had never heard of Ban-Roll until an earlier video of yours. So helpful! Thanks so much for sharing and for such a well-made efficient video. Great closeups, no annoying music or chatter. I feel like I’m sitting right beside you as you sharing your techniques. Yours is definitely one of my favorite channels! 😊
This is the absolute best tip I've ever seen for neatly finishing off so many types of fabrics! The results look AMAZING!! I'm actually looking forward to hemming a bias cut shirt project I've been considering. Thank you so much!!
I remember banroll waistbands on men’s trousers from decades ago. You would think it would be a more popular product. I recently asked for some at Fabricland and the staff had no idea what I was talking about. I love your videos. I have been sewing for about 60 years and I am learning all kinds of new tricks from you.
oh my goodness, what a lifesaver! I make dolls and obviously, dolls dresses. and I used your method today. What a game changer! Absolutely perfect for those tiny little hems on these tiny little outfits, 😘🇨🇦💕🥰❤️
Thank you so much for showing how to use Ban Roll on different types of fabric. This was very helpful for me as I'm struggling with how to get a perfect hem on chiffon.
Thank you for this fantastic tip! I have a project that I am working on for my daughter and needed to make it a bit more feminine looking and then I watched this video and now know how I am going to finish the hem!
This stuff is magic, the only thing is to be really careful with really lightweight fabric. I managed a 3mm rolled hem on chiffon and it turned out fantastically but the little ‘hooks’ can get caught in the rest of your fabric and snag it. I also did my hem using 2 shorter lengths of ban rol because I found it was easier to handle than the 3 metre length I have
Thank you for the extra video! I’ve been using this technique a lot and love it! Napkins, shirt hems and I made a very pretty silk scarf from a piece of Liberty that had been in my stash for over a year!
I watched your 1st video on this and ordered the Ban- Roll online. This video definitely goes into more detail and answers some of the questions I had. Thank you so much.
I have been using your technique with the ban roll for narrow hems and I love it! No more fussy ironing the 1/4" turn and then again.Yuck! What I did to keep the ban roll useful for more repeated use is this: I painted on clear nail polish at the edge where the width-wise threads are sticking up(not on the edge of the sticking up part but at the woven part) This way I don't get more of the length-wise threads starting to "shedd" and come off when you don't want them to. It is keeping the ban roll nice and neat. Thanks so much!
I have used this technique ever since I watched your first video........ it is the most remarkable video I've seen in the past few years!! Thank you so much........Band rolled hems are truly a "game changer".... !!!!
This was AMAZING!! Who knew this technique even existed??? Definitely not me !! Thank you, this is a technique that I will definitely try!! I only wish you lived near me, I would be so happy to pay you for your quality work!! You are a very talented & skilled tailor!! I appreciate you sharing your great tips!!
Thanks for sharing. You’ve made this so easy. 😊. I’ve watched and read others but was afraid. I’m buying some ban-roll today after watching and listening to your tips and tricks.
OMG! You’ve just changed my life! For all the time I’ve been sewing, I’ve used a narrow overlock (one needle) then followed those stitches to fold the fabric. Although it’s perfect for mid-weight fabrics, it’s not as successful on chiffon, organza, etc. Using ban-tape will mean these lighter weight fabrics won’t have that added weight from extra stitching inside the hem. I have a customer’s chiffon gown to re-hem and am full of hope instead of dreading it!! Thank you so much. New subscriber from the U.K.
I have actually seen this before. But I totally forgot about it! Do you have a technique for doing a rolled hem on a curved hem, as well? That's what I always struggle with, even it it's just a gentle curve.
@@DowntownTailoring Oh, I thought due to the stiffness of the material, that likely wouldn't work. Gonna try it then! I already checked and it's available here. Which isn't always the case with stuff like that. But online shops have cought on to the fact, that their customers are now familiar with products from the US and such.
I'm very new to sewing and appreciated your video demonstration very much. What a clever technique! (This suits my "perfectionist" tendencies rather nicely!) Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills with the world!
I just found your video (via the adding width to jean waist, which was excellent by the way). Thank you for sharing your knowledge in tailoring and the great camera shots, so I can see what you are doing. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you using Ban-Roll, which I never heard of, I’ve seen it in mens trousers, but not how you used it. Fabulous stuff. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumb’s up too
Wonderful! I can't tell you enough how much time you are about to save on your sewing journey. You will smile by yourself when you learn about other colleagues struggling with this hem. When you help them will be like 🫂🫂🫂🫂 Cheers! 🥰
Wow, this is a very useful tip for the bottom of skirts/dresses of lightweight fabric as a typical rolled hem never lays flat...This is a genius solution! Thanks so much!
I tried this today! I have been wanting to sew a nightgown with a thin satin, and I tried the band tape technique, and it looks so good! I am so glad I didn't have to wrestle with my rolled hem foot. Thank you so so much for this tip! Genius! ❤
Great!!! I really don't know if I can get my hands in one roll but you bet I'm going to be looking in every store!!!! I really like the technique but I wasn't really understanding how to do it, know I don't have any questions at all! I can't wait to use it! Thank you so much!!!

Genius...!!! I have subscribed and hope to continue my personal profit (in skills...) from your wonderful ideas and tips...!!! Thanks for sharing your helpful information...!!! Just out, popping from my head, comes the possible application of the use of 1 or 2 or 3 individual threads coming out of this product, to coil comfortably over any linen fabric pencil design drawned destined to be covered by any embroidered stitch and filled... The use of each one stand-alone thread coming out of the Ban-Roll would be, perhaps, less stiff to use as support in some Irish or Romanian needle lace, and/or other ways to embroider or doing any handwork... I am just thinking out loud after imagining one thread to help hand roll hems in silk and sheers used for kerchiefs or gossamer panties... Forgive me for my enthusiasm... Just woke up, watched your video and can't control my brain any more... It has a life of its own... Sorry...
