John Nocera, I don't think Dusty was that great a singer. She did not have a good voice like Connie Francis, Leslie Gore, Petula Clark, and the list could be endless.
Pues los grandes éxitos que han tenido los cantantes mexicanos es porque hacen sus “refritos” de canciones extranjeras exitosas, y así ya tienen el éxito asegurado.🤭
In my opinion, this is arguably the greatest R&R song ever recorded. Beautifully upbeat, but at the same time, somewhat sad. What if her seemingly unbounded love turned out to be unrequited? For my taste, this song is an impeccable masterpiece.
There is a sadness to it, partly because of a sense that this kind of love is often unrequited, especially for the teenage audience the song was mostly heard by, and partly because we know it wasn’t possible for Dusty herself to be open about her own feelings at that time. But the aspect of sadness makes the song even more emotional. It’s a beautifully written song, and Dusty’s incredible vocal ability and artistry make it a true classic of its time. The sense of vulnerability comes through in that beautiful minor-key bridge/interval - arguably among the best 15 seconds of music from the 1960’s. 😊
I listen this music when I was 17 years old back in central america in el salvador and now 65, and I did not understand a thing what the song was saying, is beautifull.

Great job on the lyrics. I was just on a professional music program that played this song and whoever wrote out the lyrics did not catch that the second time through she says, “hear me honey” instead of listen honey. You caught it. Good job.
I really appreciate your comment, because I always try my hardest (if I put up the lyrics) to get it right. When a verse is repeated, it is all too easy to copy and paste the first verse and leave it at that. But those are often the times that catch you out as the artist changes a word or two ....

@@LizzieLane777 "Going Back" is one of my favourite Dusty songs. And Dusty is my all-time favourite female singer. Much more to come from her on this channel. Nice to meet you, Lizzie.
Oh my God what a voice. This performance reminds me of Nick Lowe's album title (or was it Dave Edmund's?) Pure Pop for Now People. This is a product of a typical hit factory ala 1960s. You can almost hear the big-wigs directing Dusty, telling her "great but faster! Much faster!" But who cares? Look what she did with it. Those fantastic girlie songs by women with vocal balls of steel. Reminds me of when I saw Patti Scialfa on her own at the Pony, working the audience but in such a magical, loving way. Amazing.
This song is beautiful and describes very well how unconditional love is. One of those greats of the early sixties I have always liked it. Someone made a Spanish version of this song but ruined it as the lyrics are not nice but spiteful and with resentment. This original is much better and surpasses the Spanish version by miles.
it's not that they made a "Spanish version", it's that the original artist, Luis Miguel, sampled this song and uses it with his own music. Just because he sampled it doesn't mean he was making a Spanish version of it.
