This game was childhood for me. This game series, of course, and Sonic the Hedgehog. I was a little kid, back in the late 1990s, seeing games like this on NES, SNES, and N64! Nostalgia!
The SNES version used audio and visual assets from Super Mario World remake. The DOS version uses stretched-out character animations unlike the later versions.
I remember trying this game out at a local game store and of course, i wouldn't able to make progress as i don't know what to do. Some people in the store saw that and start laughing at me......

Intended to be just an educational game, no attention was paid to the smallest details of development and gameplay. That's why this game is not one of the best in the Mario series. I remember when I first played it I gave up on how complicated and confusing it was. However the concept of being an educational style game is not a bad idea. I agree with this game receiving a "deluxe" type remake with modern graphics, renderings and good gameplay.
While the game may not be great... can we all appreciate the fact that the first question you answer when returning the Sistine Chapel's ceiling... is LITERALLY referencing the character names from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I repeat... TMNT. Referenced. In a Mario game. How many times can you say Nintendo managed to get away with that? XDDD

🤣 when a game also did function as a history teachin method i laughed so much cuz i was at first confused it had a very different approach to play mario in a very opposite style of the classics.... Also the traveling & unlockin yoshi to progress was hilarious And i did enjoyed this game cuz it was pretty interesting
This game scared me a bit back then. All these weird people walking around and I wasn't really doing anything I'd usually do in previous Mario games. I picked up no indication that this game was educational, neither
I can't believe I didn't try 'the sidewalk' if you just go up the street you get a honking sound. Not much of a clue, but a good one now I know what it was trying to do.
a click bait as a kid in the game store
I Like the 90s Super Mario brothers movie now. But it disappointed me as a kid. And then renting this game for the weekend
The "City Not Secured" music used to scare me as a kid.
This is one of the Nintendo games not many talk about!
Because it was more educational then it was action based

IF THIS HAD MORE MISSIONS 'MARIO IS MISSING' WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE RIGHT AFTER SUPER MARIO WORLD

Maybe it's because all four turtles are based on Italian artists. Splinter being just a reference. I can see why they got away with it.
Better than Elden Ring

My introduction of this game was AVGN, never had it as a kid. But I now own an original cartridge, it’s pretty fun!
Say im weird but i have a bit of nostalgia for this game. Mainly the pixelized art of famous landmarks and the music

Oh man, I remember playing this briefly back in the day. It was weird, and I was confused by it. I liked it though.
