    He finishes the 3 turn with a slight knee bend, then bends further as the leg comes through (lowering the arms also). Then he swings up with the arms as he jumps, turns the hips, and lifts the left knee with the foot out. You got to use everything you got to get in the air on this jump.

    He's doing a loop without the use of the toe stop here and pushing off the heel with no plantar flexion at all. Back in the 90s and before, this was the accepted technique for single and double loops and I think Tim McGuire was the only one to land a triple loop this way. It's very hard to both get lift and initiate rotation with that technique and it puts a lot of torquing stresses on the hip and knee, because the prerotation is occurring at the hip rather than at the skate and skating surface. Now that taking off the toe stop (a techninique that's more similar to loop jumps on ice) has become more excepted,there are many more skaters doing triple loop combinations. Some of the old timers may not like it, but it was necessary for progress. Even the skater in this demo does his 2 and 3 loop off the toe even though his single here is off the wheels.
