Jacob check the wire harness going across the front of the oil pan under the truck. You will see alittle green corrosion weeping out of the plastic holder of the harness. The wires Chaff and this is the number one cause of your battery light. Super easy fix.

At that point if it runs and drives without major issues then it’s a good truck. It is a testament to the quality of Ford Super Duty trucks that we expect 200,000+ miles before we encounter any major problems.

That being said, not sure if my frame is different or what, but at my low Km my frame is already starting to rust. It is a Grande Prairie, Alberta truck though so that makes sense. My drivers seat is also shredded, not sure if the XLT seats were poorly made in that year or what... it did have running boards before I took them off, guess the guys never used them where it used to live. Looking forward to driving it, I was told the front end shakes at around 120 km/h, but the one time I drove it I didn't go fast enough to test it. Given mines a gasser, I think I'll do more maintenance than you've done. Will definitely be doing transmission and engine oil soon. Hoping to have the ranch hand and tool box too, given we also smoke lots of deer here in Alberta, and a single cab don't fit all the crap I wanna carry. Think that's about all, if anyone has advice, I'd love to hear it. Good video.

We have a few 2018s at work, 2 out of 3 have had the driver door hinge rip out of the body. The aluminum just tore when the crazy wind we get sometimes caught the door and took it right out of the guys hands. Local shop welded it back for us. The same wind actually folded the door against the front fender on a 2009? tahoe we had, so I'm a fan of the aluminum, especially around here where everything rusts out the minute you look away.

My 2017 F350 Platinum is at 212,000. Luckily it has the rubber floor option with the heavy rubber mats front and rear. Too bad on your local Ford dealer, I’ve had really good experiences with Kalispell Ford.
13:51 do you ever grease the doors or tailgate? I feel like for a truck with that kind of mileage and use you should be putting silicone lubricant on the slides and hinges every 6 months. I’m going to surmise you don’t and then blame Ford. Take care of your machine it’ll take care of you. I will never understand people that don’t even grease a door stop or hinge and then complain the door squeaks!! 🤦🏼♂️
Your doors are squeaking because your door checks are bad. I just recently replaced my driver side front door on my 2016 F-150 and it solve the issue. It's a common wear part and is really easy to change out
Silicone spray stopped my door squeaks. Spray it in there good. That CCV filter just needs to be changed don’t have to delete it. And my opinion of the wonky shifting is a shift solenoid, if you replace that with a transmission service I think you are fine. I have a 19 and I agree with 10k on the Shell Rotella!
transmission seems like a valve body issue that is very common on those 6r140's. Usaully its the 2-3 or 5-6 shift. also could be a solenoid that is getting worn out or has something stuck in the solenoid. I would look into haveing the valve body replaced and make sure they put in new soleniods.
This is the reason I'm planning on getting a '20 or newer Godzilla. Hell, I'd take a 6.2 or 6.8 over the Powerstroke, even though I plan on regularly towing 5k-18k with it.
@JacobOverman Honestly, it's mostly the upkeep and overcomplexity that drives me away. This was a decent result for a modern diesel, but maintenance at this stage in the truck's life gets even more expensive than usual. Almost any job requires lifting the cab. EGRs and DEF in modern diesels knock their longevity down to about the same lifespan as a well maintained gasser. The 7.3 is extremely simple for a modern gas engine, and almost anyone can work on it. There's tons of room under the hood to work, and the biggest trade-off to me is less overall power/torque and a less than ideal torque band. The 10 speed and 4.30 axle gears largely fix this however.
30k on fuel filters is fine. The issue is most people run them 30k miles after the water in fuel light comes on, so it's now 100k mile truck out of warranty. It needs a new fuel system because the cp4 grenades and they just NEVER CHANGED the $40 fuel filter.
I have the same truck with similar problems except I haven't deleted the emissions yet, I live in upstate NY and all the shops are afraid to delete trucks now. Anybody I ask looks at me like I'm speaking Chinese. I could physically remove the DPF and put a straight pipe in myself but don't know how to program or what not. But besides just wanting to be done with the emissions I haven't had any problems with it.....yet.
@@jaredfletcher1587 technically wouldn't pass inspection but it's the same thing how window tint on the front windows is illegal but everywhere I go I see people with tinted windows and windshields they get the inspections somehow. Might have to go old-school back in the day I used to hollow out the catalytic converters and leave them on the car so they would still pass the visual inspection but they were basically just a straight pipe. Maybe we can do that with a DPF screw the EPA we have thousands of jumbo jets flying every day that pollute way more than diesel pick up trucks ever will. I'm not about rolling Coal either I just like a nice clean free flowing emission free diesel pick up.
I love those Ranch Hand bumpers, but how the hell does a guy access the engine for service with that in the way?? Also, I changed those door stops with new ones and the squeak is gone. Cheap and easy to do.
I agree the 23+ interior f250 is just Ugly … the ac vents look like XL model , plain Matt black , no surrounding , the dash is Flat .. the door panels and seats look great … but the dash/infotainment is HIDEOUS for a 90k $ kr/plati .. the 22 interior is hands down the best imo

Well either way no matter how you look at it a diesel is going to be expensive to own. I’ll say from my experience the gm trucks don’t hold up like the fords. The duramax itself is great and I think the cp4 isn’t that big of an issue. I think your better off with a ford overall
I have a 2017 ford f150 and it has 276,000 miles but it is due for a trans but that is because it needed a valve body on the trans and I didn't fix it so I know need a new trans but I think that it well make it to 300,000 miles before I have to replace it.

Battery light is most likely a broken wire in the loom near the drivers side front tire or crossing over from there to the other side.
I have a friend he had a 2017 f250, and the only thing that broke on his truck was the def injector ...
Sold it at 249k miles for 39k, so I purchased a 2023 hoping I'll be my last truck I'll ever buy, and I'm 43 years old and will see
My 2017 F350 Platinum is at 212,000. Luckily it has the rubber floor option with the heavy rubber mats front and rear. Too bad on your local Ford dealer, I’ve had really good experiences with Kalispell Ford.
7:39 damn son that tail gate opens like the screen on the back porch
Ready for another Grizzly update!! 👍🏻
Thats a badass truck
Used abused and put away wet. It’s ok to wash and maintain your truck. Some lubricant on your door hinges won’t hurt either.
I can’t wash it when I leave the house and it gets dirty 100 foot down the road. It’s where I live.
It's a common wear part and is really easy to change out
on the seats there is a filter under the seat that needs to be cleaned.
You should install C4 disaster prevention kit
$600 to replace two blinkers?!?!? Cmon man😂
Silicone spray stopped my door squeaks. Spray it in there good.
That CCV filter just needs to be changed don’t have to delete it.
And my opinion of the wonky shifting is a shift solenoid, if you replace that with a transmission service I think you are fine. I have a 19 and I agree with 10k on the Shell Rotella!
Hood struts got me in the head one day lol.
transmission seems like a valve body issue that is very common on those 6r140's. Usaully its the 2-3 or 5-6 shift. also could be a solenoid that is getting worn out or has something stuck in the solenoid. I would look into haveing the valve body replaced and make sure they put in new soleniods.
Beautiful lab!!!
This is the reason I'm planning on getting a '20 or newer Godzilla. Hell, I'd take a 6.2 or 6.8 over the Powerstroke, even though I plan on regularly towing 5k-18k with it.
What’s the reason? Honest question because I thought this was a pretty good result from the 6.7
@JacobOverman Honestly, it's mostly the upkeep and overcomplexity that drives me away.
@@christianpetterson17847.3 gas is having some lifter/cam failures
My work daily is a 2017 f 350 n man those doors all they do is squeak
NIce! Can you make a video about that Pole Barn?!
I have the dame truck but a 2019. It’s got 131k miles.
Leaks oil but it’s been a good truck
That’s ok. Means it has oil in it
Bro the fact he just zoomed in in in dear next to then is dog was so funny to me
Haha
Did you say LAUNCHING in 4wd? How old are you? I have one of these trucks, same year. It’s been great
This and other things done are why this truck is about on its last leg
30k on fuel filters is fine. The issue is most people run them 30k miles after the water in fuel light comes on, so it's now 100k mile truck out of warranty. It needs a new fuel system because the cp4 grenades and they just NEVER CHANGED the $40 fuel filter.
My trans shift a bit fun from 1 to 2nd gear and it’s also bipolar aswell been running it like that for 70k miles and still running
That great. Try going a few states south and see if you can get into a shop and get it done.
@@JacobOvermanI'm in upstate NY too and I think it would fail Inspection here if it's deleted
Any shop in Alberta Canada will sell and ship you the tuners you need.
We don't have emissions BS up here. Everyone's deleted.
Harbor Freight sells generic trim clips to hold down the shroud under the front of your hood.
I have a 2017 with 230,000 the crank gear spun and wiped out the camshaft and putting a 2020 motor in it gonna see how that runs
Should do you good, sorry to hear about the engine failure. That’s really unfortunate
How much does something like that run ya?
It’s gonna be at least 15 grand or more
Long story short, sell your Ford before it hits 200k miles.
I love those Ranch Hand bumpers, but how the hell does a guy access the engine for service with that in the way?? Also, I changed those door stops with new ones and the squeak is gone. Cheap and easy to do.
It’s kinda hard to process that this truck is 7 years old😶
Time flies for sure
That battery light I bet is caused from a broken corroded wire in the wire channel running under the front of the engine
I have the same problem between 3-4 scares me every time
Yeah im deciding between 6.7 or 6.2gas
Ford obviously builds the best looking trucks on the road, 150 or Stupid duty.
Yup old trucks are and still will be better than new
Nobody notice how normal it was for that deer to be there 😂
I'm more curious in seeing your driveway lol you did the gravel yourself?
If your ambient air temp sensor in the passenger mirror “the one you said is screwed in” is not working your AC will not work.
It’s crazy how these days everyone has been
Conditioned to think 200k is a lot of miles fora diesel
And then to have to spend thousands of dollars in fixing things just to get there
Once you start going north of 350k you can start talking big boy numbers
Waiting on new ATV video!!👍🏻
It’s basically your work toy 😂
the ADHD is serious with you 😂😂😂
Sounds like someone welded something without disconnecting the battery
Not the case at all
6:45 underrated moment
That interior is considered really good condition?
U been driving that thing 30,000 miles a year?!?
Yes.
Kind of hard to tell, but is it a long bed?
Yes
@@JacobOverman Good looking work truck. Ranch hand sets it off perfectly. 👌
No way that’s a 8 foot bed, looks like the standard 6’9 bed.
@@jaymoar3561That’s definitely a 8’ bed
My truck is a 2018 and does the 3-4 shift thing and has done it from 37,000 miles now at 70k still randomly will do it
WD40 that door son!!! LOL!!!!
What size tires are those and is it leveled
Leveled with 35x12.50r20
The battery light is on likely for a bad ground connection
Do you have a leveling kit? And what size tires?
What do you have for window tint setup?
Need to clean that inside lol
Thanks for this Video I’m currently deciding on a 4th gen cummins or a 17-19 ford f250 powerstroke
So, from the looks of it my dads 2015 ford f350 has a lot less problems than these newer trucks
Ima going to get me a 6.7 around November considering l5p to I don’t need a diesel but it’s a want and I make enough to afford it plus they hold their value good leaning more to the 6.7 but open to the l5p I don’t want to have to dump money into something all the time cp4 is my only concern with the 6.7
Well either way no matter how you look at it a diesel is going to be expensive to own. I’ll say from my experience the gm trucks don’t hold up like the fords. The duramax itself is great and I think the cp4 isn’t that big of an issue. I think your better off with a ford overall
It do good pulling big trailers?
I had a 08 Silverado with 450k miles I got it at 125k miles… on god I didn’t change anything lmao 🤣 oil… filters… nothing
The reason why I change my oil so often is becouse I put a bunch of diffrent shit in my truck
Makes sense

Is there a way to contact you privately? I got a few questions for you.
I have a 2017 ford f150 and it has 276,000 miles but it is due for a trans but that is because it needed a valve body on the trans and I didn't fix it so I know need a new trans but I think that it well make it to 300,000 miles before I have to replace it.
