The train look marvelous with a tint of blue, green and cream with large windows emerges from a backdrop of steam and smoke of steam engine. The sweet whistle of the toy train, mesmerizing beauty of the hills, mist, fog, zig-zag curvy track, the hills, bridges, tunnels,waterfalls, forests .… Just mesmerizing and fabulous scenic beauty.... Nature showered its charm . The Nilgiri Mountain Railways has recorded its name as the “Slowest train in India”. The train crosses 250 bridges and passes through 16 tunnels. From Udagamandalam "Ooty" to Coonoor it is a diesel engine which is changed by steam engine for Coonoor to Mettupalayam...So that changes might you have seen. It uses 4,000 litres of water every few kilometers . The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is one of three Indian railways which were recognized by UNESCO . The other two are the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and the Kalka ( your home town)-Shimla Railway. The song at 9:10 of the clip the song👌💞 is so perfectly complementing . Try uphill journey… it is spectacular.. Steam engine from Mettupalayam to Coonoor claims the steepest gradient in Asia 1 : 12 with the help of rack and pinion system..
We had enjoyed this train ride from Coonoor to Ooty during our 2017 trip, it took around 1 hour. I feel the train should move a little slower so that we can enjoy more and capture the beauty of forest and hills.

From Chennai CMBT bus stand ( connected by Metro from Chennai Central) you can get a bus to Pondy every 5--10 minutes.

The #broad_Gauge train in #Mettupalayam is one of oldest mail/express called #Blue_Mountain now #Nilagiri_Express stated in 1899. Toy train are those which are operated in Parks, zoos, & play zones for children
