  • The Ignis is a car we both agree on. It's cute, it's spacious, it's well built and quite practical to live with on a daily basis. It's also very peppy and incredibly fuel efficient. And best of all, it has a sort of character that's missing in most small cars these days....

From a fun car pov what would you pick between the K10 and the Ignis after having put 10k on the Ignis.

    • @ezhilseye8739

@@ashwinprakas606 Ignis anyday ! My POV before buying ignis was like IGNIS can be compared to an i10 or punch. Now I regret for that opinion, in terms of drivability I can easily compare it with an NA i20, 1.0 MPI polo and 1.2 jazz. You will have to drive and experience that, comparing it to an alto k10 is like comparing a duke 390 with an Fz 160. If you ask me is k10 a good car, obviously yes if you compare it with rest of its rivals ! But in that k10 engine lot , between alto k10/Celerio/Spresso/wagnor. I would honestly pick the Spresso. A whole family of Spresso gave me a heavy tough race with my 1.2 Ignis in a highway and he never wanted to leave me ahead. I understood how Suzuki leads the smaller cc engines !!

USP of ignis was its base model. I own one from 2018 ,done 48000 kms now. It was priced 5.54L on road and had 60k discount (35k discount+ 25k exchange bonus) so 4.94L brand new with a swift size and the same Baleno/Dzire/swift engine!! Base model tag apart, awesome driveability (had an upsize from 175 to 195mm rubbers then😉), steering rack adjustment, front 2 power windows, gear shift indicator, ABS, 2 airbags, adjustable headrest in front (swift lacked it), and toy my liking,it comes with all black interiors!. Got a least mileage of 16.5 and got upto 20.9 kmpl tank to tank. High reliability, mod potential, higher clearance 180mm.. its a gem of a car. Only cons were the stff ride at the rear and that the steering dint centre on its own. And he's our family, we call him Ingaachan!!

I have an Ignis Alpha petrol manual which I bought brand new in 2017. I still like the car very much. I have to mention that this was not the logical choice back then considering my car was around 70k more expensive than the full option i10. One major reason that influenced my buying decision was that this was not the only car of my family and hence, some of the sensible options were too similar to the others in my family. A few points that would sum my experience with it are as under:
    1. Looks- Love it or not, there is no denying that this looked cool. The U shaped DRLs are so distinctive and cute that I call mine UgnU.
    2. Driving feel- when you push the car, the engine loves to rev, there is a nice engine noise coupled with a small exhaust note. It may not be very fast and you may get overtaken by a Polo TSI or. Figo diesel but you feel like you are driving like a rally driver.
    3. The suspension has little travel and bottoms out in most average Indian pot holes. But on the up side when you corner, it does not roll at all. Here is where ironically, the dead steering comes to an advantage. Of course, it would have been infinitely better if it had some feedback. But when you take corners with the current steering, you get no feedback and you dont feel the tyre strain at all. So in totality, it would appear to corner flat with no complaints at all.
    4. It is so unique. It has the advantage of being a Maruti but does not make you feel like the traffic in old racing games (in those all traffic cars looked the same).

My Ignis always reminds me of the SMART (German) car.The dimensions, wheels all the way out, the stance, It's a perfect supermini for Kochi. It's peppy and as Vivek suggested it's fun to work the tiptronic like a sequential shifter during spirited runs! Only downside for my wife who is the primary user is the lack of seat height adjuster and she has issues with visibility. The ride is nice except when you crash into potholes. It's like a hyper excited puppy! Eager to please and so much fun!

Back in 2018 when I wanted a car to tackle Bangalore traffic I bought an Ignis Zeta AMT. Literally, everyone was telling me to buy the new-gen Swift but I stuck to my decision, and oh boy was it the right one.
It is a ton of fun to drive and the sound of the engine is so addictive that most of the time I get poor fuel efficiency just because of revving the nuts off the engine. Many people after a few minutes into the drive ask me which air filter is installed in the car.
The only irritating factor is that the steering just does not return to the center.
The rear end can be made a bit more better looking by adding the spoiler from the official accessories list.

Hi Vivek Ji and JD, First of all I'm soo overwhelmed and happy to see Ignis getting featured in Talking Cars. I never miss an episode of yours and to see the car you own is really priceless.
I had a Tata Nano because I live in space where the road approaching my home is very narrow, so my best choices for upgrade was either to buy a Mini cooper or adjust with an Ignis. Since I'm too rich to afford a mini, I ended up with an Ignis, obviously with a heavy heart and a lot of criticisms from friends, neighbors and family. I have an Ignis Alpha manual petrol loaded with all the additional specs and It's been almost two years with the car and I'm super satisfied. Everytime I take it out for a spin I feel that rev & peppy nature of the engine. The only two negatives as rightly pointed out in the video is the back narrowing down which slightly a drawback for taller passengers and the steering feel which is very light.

If someone asks me how I feel about an Ignis " 05:21 - I just love it" I'd answer faster than Vivekji did. Definitely my favourite Maruti Suzuki car after Ritz. (It's funny yet lovely that both are not purely Maruti, but Suzuki of European origin)
Really love the way the Ignis looks, the only issue that it cramps down when going up the roof. Suzuki should have made it with a little more cabin space just like the Ritz had. What you told is totally agreeable, the best car MSIL has to offer at present, the perfect small car for people.
I personally own a Ritz VXi, which I love for what it offers, the space, the commanding position and visibility, crisp enthusiastic engine, good average, easy maintenance and just everything..... It feels like the Ignis is a very good upgrade to Ritz at present.
And now, if I were to purchase an Ignis, I'd rather go for "the Urban SUV 😉" ( 31:08 Courtesy MSIL Marketing team, and not JayD) than a used "hatchback", simply because of the poor depreciation of price of the used ones...
Thanks again..... Have a great time ahead 😊👍🏻💙

I had bought a Zeta Petrol MT for my father in 2017 July to replace his Alto. We were considering Wagon-R as he liked the seating position and the around visibility from driver's seat. I had nobody supporting me regarding ignis due to its rear design, but I decided to buy this. The reasons - easy to drive around in the city - light steering & clutch and easy gear shits, nice front seats, the seating position and visibility and more safety features and build quality compared to Wagon-R. I pitched AMT, but he wanted manual. A rear spoiler was added after a week of delivery and it made the rear much better looking.

Always felt like a car, a true "Punchy" feel especially on mid-range. There's a kick back between 4-3 down shift. Thought of gaining more cornering potential, if lowered. A car that ain't disappointed in terms of size, ergonomics & economy which keeps the much favoured boxy shape for hatch. Afterall the K12 things 🤩, been driving this for 3 years now.

Best car for city usage for its ultimate practicality., very good commanding seating position, maintenance free car even after driving more than 60000km.. I have taken it to showroom only for its routine service. not even a single issue from suspension after using harshly on rough unpaved roads. Very good ground clearance..Good turning radius and very easy to park.. good boot space , good leg room for all the 5 passengers and it has roomier interior.. smooth engine, things I don't like is amt shifting is not smooth and hard rally based suspension set up.

Even Im a big fan of this cars styling. I like the front end and side profile as well. Even the interiors are kind of funky. The AC control buttons are kind of inspired from Mini Cooper. I prefer the latest version (SUV version 😂😂) with the redesigned grill and roof rails. All these changes brought a different stance to the vehicle. It's a perfect upgrade from Wagonr or similar hatchbacks.

Hi guys , I have ignis diesel, in my experience,I got a car with manufacturing defects in engine, got the engine replacement after big struggle at 30k, now car has run about 1.1.3 L km . After the replacement of engine I have constantly got a mileage of 25-30km/L and city too mileage of around 20km/L.
So I feel it’s a good car even for a guy who drives rough 😂.

Been more than 2 weeks now and unlike all the other cars I have owned so far…where I would look to get out of the city to enjoy the drive… this one lets you enjoy it even in peak chaotic traffic with its nippiness and dartability….like you guys said…the perfect city car or should I say urban SUV considering I bought the 2020 model😀

Owning the Ignis for about 6 months, 5000kms done, will be writing on team bhp for sure. I have some things to point out. Bs6 model has no self centering issues and eps feels good in communication. But I feel the clutch is a bit heavy when compared to similar cars like swift, don't know why. As u guys said I was also confused about the built just because it weighs under 900 kg but surprisingly the body panels feels solid. Ride is soft and when entering a corner with full load, you will surely be praying to god and turning.

Happy owner of Ignis base model. I bought this as my second car in 2018 and very much satisfied with this car. Even the base-model has good features that are sometimes available only in top variants.
As a regular user, want to call out some negatives also - poor steering (won't return to its original position after taking a turn), some level of body roll, thigh support is compromised for better leg room, unusual projections especially around the back wheels makes it easy to get lot of scratches around the bumpers etc.

Guys I feel like one and a half lakhs is actually a huge amount. Yes it is a used car, but if you choose to buy a new car for that price addition you will end up paying more amount as interest on that additional loan. So the actual amount you will be paying for that will be more than one that difference. Plus you will have to pay extra for all the additional accessories like door mats and seat covers. And taxes as per new rates.
But it is to be kept in mind that if you do not have ready cash, the situation may be different since loans for old cars carry an interest of 14% as opposed to 8 or 9 percent on new cars.
We bought a WagonR but opted for a loan of 2 lakhs because we didn’t want to exhaust our entire savings, but that was the worst mistake ever. We ended up paying a huge percentage of it as interest and lost a lot of money.
