ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor

Thankyou so much brother. Just to add something..if you are connect with the service name instead of SID use jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521/.... use / instead of :. colon is used to represent SID and / is used to repesent service name. no matter ur connect type is basic or TNS.
