- Slated for release in March 2019, EPISODE ARDYN offers players a chance to step into the role of FINAL FANTASY XV’s main antagonist. Set before the events of FINAL FANTASY XV, players will learn more about Ardyn’s backstory in a story of death and restoration.
Can't believe we'll never see Episode Noctis aka the alternate happy ending DLC where Noctis lives.
Which is a good thing. We already got an alternate happy ending with Episode Ignis.
It might end up being a blessing in disguise, I personally loved the ending and Noctis growing up and sacrificing everything for the future. Now the real crusher for me is now Luna's character will forever be undeveloped and underutilized

No, it wasn't time to end. In addition too the DLC's I eventually wanted to see the game finalized with a Insomnia Prequel revolving around Noctis/Regis and the city (getting to know it, care for it... so the ending is more impractful) as well as an Invasion DLC. Than this game finally would've felt complete, whole, and it probably would've been my favorite game of all time but instead... it's cut off before the finish line, and only a solid 8.5 on my list.
You know, I'm kinda disappointed in the fanbase. Had there actually been backlash following the announcement it's possible they may have decided to continue but everyone is being so optimistic lol... so I guess the game really is dead.
Gosh Square...Luna deserved better. At least this DLC looks good.
Despite this being the final DLC, I'm very excited to learn more about Ardyn's backstory. And playing as him will be amazing.
Though, I was under the impression that before Kingsglaive, Ardyn and Regis had never met face to face, considering their conversation.
Just to clarify: I think it’s awesome that the two have interaction before the main events of FFXV. I just became confused during the trailer when I thought about this.
Regis knew him the moment he walked in. He had no choice but to give in the empire to save Noctis

My guess is that Ardyn simply doesn't mention his name to Regis until Kingslgaive, therefore, it becomes more formal to introduce himself.
I thought they had more episodes coming? Like a Luna episode and a few others? Were they scrapped?
Even if the other people is angry, i have to give thanks to all the team of FFXV, thanks for your work, and for all the support you have gave to this game. Seriously, thank you guys, thank you Tabata.
This is, and will be the best game to me.
I'm so glad it's not just haters but people like me and you who are generally thankful for this experience and every bit of hard effort the team put in regardless of everything else. 🙂 (And I agree this is my personal favourite game and I've played aloooot)

@@jacoryarnett7347 It's an incomplete telling of a story yes but that doesn't mean it's a mess, it's a great story and OF COURSE a game with THREE titles would have more content, be more complete ect..than a game with one main title, I fail to see your point other than trying to unnecessarily hate on 15.
@@joe_darksoul12 You are blind how disappointed FF15 have to offer you with a crossover-promotions (example tera wars) that has nothing to do with a story and top of that the main story is rush and incomplete since day one and you ffxv fans waste $20 season pass of your money on 30-40 min dlc episodes gladio, prompto, and ignis on a $60 base game to get a full experience.
And also Tabata keep throwing you royale screw edition for extra $25 or $40 for the extra features , extra cutscenes, and more bosses that shouldn't been in the base game in the first place since day 1 launch that leave FF fans disappointed.
So depressed. The Luna DLC was more crucial for a complete story. But I guess this is better than nothing.
I was actually looking forward most to Luna getting some actual development through her DLC but at least we still have Ardyn's episode :/ better than nothing

@Veer Pal they should just add in a feature where you can enter a training area and play as any character (Prompto, Ignis, Gladio, Ravus, Luna, Ardyn, Aranea, Iris). If no DLC then at least just make the girls playable

That’s ironic since Ardyn is associated with darkness. 😆 Of course, I’m sad that the other DLCs are gone and that my favorite game is coming to a close, but I agree - at least we can finish it off with a bang!

Angel Tafoya No they didn’t, however Square Enix announced yesterday they lost over $30 million because of AAA titles (not XV because it actually was one of their best selling ever, more like shadow of the tomb raider). It’s too bad the higher ups made XV take the L for this

I don’t know why some of you are saying we should at least be happy or grateful, blah blah blah. We just got our hopes crushed even after getting a game that had some of its content purposefully held back to be sold as DLC or reduced to only be watched as a movie/anime. We deserve to be angry if we are. I still love the game, but the handling of the ‘extra’ content that should have been base content was unacceptable on top of the fact that I’m still salty about the simple fact that we didn’t get to see this game through the eyes of Mr. Nomura like we were expecting to 12 years ago. I’m glad we’re getting Ardyn, but seeing what it has in store only makes me more upset about what we aren’t getting with the other 3 and brings back my other grievances about XV.

I'm sad about the other 3 dlc getting canceled and Tabata leaving Square, but I'm still amazed that FFXV got this much support as it did after 2 years. What other game, jrpg, has this privilege. Thank you for your hard work Tabata-san and the former FFXV team!
Friendly reminder that although they did cancel the other three DLC episodes, they said they're working on a way to show us their stories in someway. My guess is another anime similar to Brotherhood. I mean, they're working on a Episode Ardyn Prologue animation, so that's a good sign.
no one wants an anime, manga or some other shit. No other ff gives you like half the story and makes you watch the rest off the game.

@@flamehiro I just got done playing XV Windows Edition and it felt pretty good on it's own. Don't get me wrong, I was excited for the DLC, but if they had to cancel them I'll take an animation instead of not knowing.
@@kahntrast I only played vanilla one, I'm just waiting for them to finally stop releasing new content to revisit the game from scratch, but now it's going to be confusing to get the whole story I have to remember what I supposed to watch before replaying lol. It just feels sloppy but it is what it is I guess. I just hope square learns from their mistake
I'm so so so excited!!! Episode Ardyn will be by far the most interesting one! Learning his part of the story, playing the "bad guy" is gonna be super awesome!!! March 2019 can't come soon enough

Rewatch Kingsglaive. Regis knew who Ardyn was. You can see it in his facial expressions. Utter contempt and hatred, and not just because of the fact he's from Niflheim. Watch the trailer then watch the throne room. Ardyn was introducing himself to the entire court, not just Regis. Guaranteed Regis wanted to keep the fact a member of his family is causing all this shit on the down low, especially since the citizenry was already growing in its disapproval for his reign, given the losing war he was fighting.
No he didn't... When ardyn entered the throne room he entered as a chancellor of the empire aka a diplomatic messenger and Regis said so the second he saw him . It actually explains why the king agreed to the deal quickly, he KNEW ardyn and KNEW what he's capable of.
He knew Ardyn you can clearly see it from the face he makes in the throne scene from KG he knew what Ardyn could do and how futile a battle in the throne room would be just like he knows Insomnia would be destroyed basically both worked for the same goal the ascension of the true king and the defeat of the usurper I think in the new DLC Ardyn will just berserk around Insomnia ( look how angry he is ) fight Regis , Regis may win but learn of his immortality or ardyn wins and decide to spare Regis in order to face the true king maybe after a spiritual encounter with Somnus ( who btw looks identical to Noctis)

If I can't have Episodes Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis, I may as well enjoy this one - I just hope that this means Square is dissolving the FFXV team to work on FFVII Remake or FFXVI.
I would recommend that they turn all other FFXV developments into a DLC Epsiode about the Invasion of Insomnia at least, but I think it's best to move on at this point. Besides, changing things during development has proven to be a problem in a fanbase that still wants to play broken Versus XIII and not XV.

FF7R is handled by a whole different team (Business Division 1) while FF15 was developped by Business Division 2, now Luminous Productions. They were told to focus on their new game and drop FF15 DLCs. Tabata already confirmed that the Luminous Productions new game is a new IP.
Okay so two things:
1. I am looking forward to Episode Ardyn. That is a fact.
2. I blame the lack of communication from Square Enix on this entire debacle. The Livestream was announced as a celebration of the game. But, in reality, it felt more like a funeral. There is no excuse for waiting so long for announcing the cancellation of 3/4 of the DLC.
Square: you guys have dug yourselves a very big hole. And it is a hole I do not see yourselves getting out of until you learn to communicate better.
Sorry to say but they don’t give a shit about communication. They more than likely used Tabata to “take responsibility” due to how Japanese company politics work and had him leave in order to save face. What happens now? They have someone replace Tabata and move on like nothing happened. They will never learn from their mistakes. It’s all about making money and saving face. You would think after the whole “but we thought you’d like such and such” that they would learn to not assume what the fans want but now it doesn’t mater

Man, Ardyn's English voice actor is so much better.
I agree! I like Keiji Fujiwara, but his voice DEFINITELY fit his role as Reno in FF VII stuff a lot better, as he sounds kind of young and rough around the edges. Darin de Paul has a deeper, older-sounding voice, and gives Ardyn a sense of cynicism and dignity.

This looks fantastic HOWEVER the game will never be complete in my eyes without including Kingsglaive playable in some fashion as a new chapter 1. And also we needed Aranea's episode to show us the fall of the empire instead of the offscreen bs we got. Comrades will be dead within a year. You should have devoted that time to the actual narrative of the story and we could have plugged more holes in the plot.
Ardyn was one of my favorite characters in this game, so happy we are getting more of him. Shame the other DLCs got cancelled though.
I forgot for a second that Prompto is a clone of Verstael.... Coz holy shit I got confused! XD Anyway, I'm both glad and upset about yesterday's news. I never really liked the number of DLC's that's been coming out for FF XV but if it was to fill in the plotholes I would have been fine. IF they actually added something to the story. And yeah I'm looking at your DLC Gladio... The only good thing about this is that we still get Ardyn's story. The sad thing is we don't get to see Luna's.

From what I can see, this is an alternate universe, or it could be bits and pieces jumbled up together of the Insomnia invasion from Ardyn’s perspective.
Ifrit is coming as Ardyn exclusive summon? If so I'm buying it.
Revelations from this trailer:
1) The reason that even the Royal family was forbidden to go to Angelgard, was because Ardyn was imprisoned there.
2) The reason for Ardyn's extreme hatred against Noctis, is because his brother (Somnus) looks like Noctis.
3) Regis already knew about Ardyn and his powers.
4) Ardyn can use somekind of daemonic warp.
5) Verstael looked a lot like Prompto in his youth, (I feel sorry for Prompto when he grows old).
6) The setting of the DLC seems to be 15 years prior to the games setting, because of young Regis and that was when the Glaives was founded.

People are bitching about DLC being cancelled but where is the Hard mode or even the Co op story mode l honestly wanted to play the main story with my three friends and explore the open world, even the Versus XIII clothes aren't even in the game yet. Ok I think i get this everyone. Squares choice to cancel the other DLC's is mainly because as Square recent bad financial report where they lost 33 million, they are focusing on big AAA projects instead of smaller indie,mobile, and easily monetized crap given the backlash the industry's had towards them. And since it was their previous strategy. Looks like these post launch DLC models feel under that umbrella and got the axe. Glad they at least saved the best one. Lets end this with a bang.

Even from a simple trailer i get only more confusion.
The royal family knew about Ardyn, or at least of a dangerous prisoner in ANGEL-FUCKING-GARD (not properly a common prison for normal people), and even the Empire knew about him..........but Regis didn't?
Then Regis learns about Ardyn and his fancy purple Armiger (also note that Regis hasn't kings' weapons, but Ardyn do). Why he didn't tell Noctis "hey son, listen up, maybe during your happy camping you'll meet a strange fella with your same power and also all the powerful weapons i do not have......here, take this broken car and leave! CYA FUCKERSSS!"
And don't tell me "Ardyn simply wiped out Regis' memory" cause it makes no sense. His illusory powers are inexplicable already. Now he has memory manipulation too? Cmon square.....

What?! this looks like an actual effort at new content. Not just some rehash of previous assets.
We should at least be thankful this is the DLC that pulled through. If we got Episode Luna and the PC Mod Tools as well that would have been fantastic.
Ep.Aranea was always gonna be a small sidestory and Episode Noctis would have retconned things too much so maybe it’s not the greatest loss.

Not me. I wanted the others and not Ardyn's. His story could have been told through other means, like they are supposedly going to do with the others. Specially Lunafreya could have had benefited more from a DLC than Ardyn. Alas, is not gonna happen and Im angry.
Si no cumplen con los 3 dlc restantes es muy probable que mucha gente deje de consumir los juegos de Final Fantasy, ya que el FFXV se sintió incompleto, era un juego para comprar dlc básicamente, costó asimilarlo, ¿ahora resulta que su "mejor creación" quedará con una historia hueca? As someone that’s only finished half of the main campaign, that’s quite a bombshell to drop, revealing Ardyn as being a part of the same family line as Noctis. Would’ve been better to put a bit of a spoiler warning at he beginning of this as a heads up.
These episodes are extra content, of course you need to finish the main story first. Idk why you enter check this anyway.
