I was on business in Eldoret almost 20 years ago. Went out for a jog one morning. Carrying around 115kg I was huffing and puffing my though around 5-5:15min/km when I heard the sound of horses behind me. I turned around to see a sea of human runners bearing down on me. They reached me within seconds, flew past me and literally left me in their dust.

It’s really only after adaptation back to sea level will you feel the benefit. Some take longer to adapt back and others not so long 👍 but at least 7/10days is not uncommon (in cycling anyway).
