Shift is just a layer, so you're using layers already. Nothing to fear. The only downside is the initial investment in figuring out the setup. Imagine if you could put alphas anywhere on the keyboard? Except you don't need to because they were decided for you. Layers, on the other hand...
Going to do a follow up because the layers are HARD. Still not sure I made the right choice. But I went with the brown switches, which is just my unreflective go to!
@@jimmyhasproblems I ended up getting a Voyager as well actually. My layers right now seem to be pretty functional but I find tap-hold mods to be useful as well.
@@jimmyhasproblemsreally? Layers are hard? Does the capability of changing each individual key in a different layer a different color make layers easier? For example, if I have a layer for arrow keys and different brackets (parentheses, curly bracket, etc) each with different colors, would that make it easier to know what key is what? I have a feeling that it would be easy after a while to remember what is what, but would like to hear your opinion about it!
What switches did you go with? I have the whites on my Glove80 but I wonder if it's just better to spring for the pro reds on the voyager, for the sound alone.
I’m a full convert to the voyager! The learning curve is way steeper but I finally got the hang of it. Actually planning a second video with the layout I landed on!
I want to try the Voyager, but layers are scary.
I'm using the Glove80 right now, it's awesome, but I want something portable for the future as well.

I always go for brown, but I’ve never really tried any other color!
have you ended up using the moonlander more?

This keyboard is evil? Is that what you’re saying? I saw that and think that’s what you mean
