I remember when my aunt purchased the 45 rpm single of this back in the day. She wore the grooves down because she played it so much. Lead vocals belong to Daryl Hall. I believe he wrote this in tribute to his lady at the time, Sara Allen. She was also a long time collaborator on writing some of their later hits in the 80s.

Yes, you can carry a tune! Darryl Hall is the great singer you hear. I believe he took the lead in almost all this I heard John on a PBS special he can sing well. Loved the song back then, still do. Out of Touch is another fav by them I love.

Daryl and John sang about Sara before..On their 2nd album, "Abandoned Luncheonette" (which, imho, IS their best album, and the one that made them famous. But somehow it get's lost in the shuffle. Shame, because there's not a dog in the bunch.). The song? "Las Vegas Turnaround"..It's a song about a flight attendant..Although I like this one, I like LVT even better..Check it out.
