Congratulations on owning this beautiful instrument. Even through your microphone the sound is so much richer and more expressive than the Young Chang.
Very nice! I also upgraded in 2022 from a 1999 Charles R Walter upright to a brand new Kawai Baby Grand. At first I almost got a Kawai K800 upright that also has the Sostenuto pedal but I really preferred the natural feel of the Kawai Baby Grand. I also love Chopin and working on that same Op 09 No 02 Nocturne right now.
@@healingpianosandiego Thank you, the good news is it so being shipped from and made in 🇯🇵. If it comes to Brentwood, Ca by November, I will be happy. Maybe I will get lucky and it will come in October.
Oh and I was thinking of your model as well but two things 1 I have a big house and the space 2 I know a lot about phantoms . The difference between a standing upright and a baby grand grand is both have an L jack that pushes the hammer down however the baby grand has a mechanism and so does the grand which it’ll have the note up playing a note on a standing upright and try to play it again quickly, you will find that you can’t. If however you have a baby grand or a grand, you can play the note 25 times in a row. By the way is your Piano both digital and acoustic I know they’re making digital and acoustic ones I’m getting rid of my digital CLP Yamaha 745 by the way only stick with Yamaha Yamaha bought the rights to Steinway and Bendorf and they improved their heart exponentially they make the best pianos hands-down so we agree with that you got the right brand . From one classical pianist to another nothing makes me happier than to see a piano player get his or her Piano
Thank you for another comment. Being able to quickly play one note 25 times in a row with grand pianos sounds good. In my case, in my limited space, I have been more than satisfied with the touch of the keys and amazing sound of YUS5 to practice every day and enjoy the piano life. Also, my piano is the acoustic YUS5, not another type of YUS5 with both digital and acoustic functions.
Bravoo for the video and well-done for this great new piano ! A slight remark: If you move the piano to the right, away from the outer wall, the piano will be needing less frequently rewinding and will be more tune stable.
Thank you so much for your advice! Actually, I moved the piano against the inner wall in the same room last month, and the condition of the piano has been pretty good. Hope you could feel the difference of the sound in my next video. Please check it out later ^^ !
Can you make a video of playing piano showing the music sheet of White River ? I believe it’ll get tone of viewers because so far no one has done it on RUclips. Thank you. Looking forward to it. ❤
Thank you for the video! It makes me want to upgrade to a better piano. My current piano is 24 years old but its tone is slowly becoming unstable over the years, and I'm not sure if I should get a YUS5 or Hoffmann T128.
It may be fun and difficult at the same time to choose one between the two top-quality pianos! Have you seen the RUclips video “Hoffmann 128 vs Yamaha YUS5 131cm upright pianos - which is best?” It compares them side by side and is very interesting. Good luck with exploring your new piano, and let me know which you choose ultimately!
Yup I saw that video and it was enlightening! Love the sound of Hoffman T128 since it is richer and rounder in tone. My music school has it on sale which makes it about 5000 dollars cheaper than YUS5. I tried to go to Yamaha music shop but it seems reluctant to let me try YUS5. :(
Hello, enjoy your playing! Recently i also bought a yamaha yus5, but thought the sound is sometimes too bright and muddy. I notice your piano sound changes over time in your various videos. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for asking! What I've learned is that a brand new piano's sound is prone to be easily out of tune so you may need a tech to come tune your piano more often until it becomes stable. Also, I've kept being careful about the temperature and humidity in the room. Hope those ways work with your piano, too!
Hi, I'm interested in buying an acoustic piano. I tested a range of pianos including the Yamaha U1, U3, YUS5 and Kawai K300, 500, 800. The YUS5 sounded the best to me and the keys and action had a level of quality that were unmatched in my view. Did you narrow the selection down to a few pianos before you decided to buy the YUS5?
I didn’t narrow down the selection to many other pianos because I originally had decided to buy YUS5 for its special features. However, I tested some YAMAHA upright pianos at the store (although I don’t remember which models they were) and knew immediately I loved the sound and touch of YUS5 the best. The sound is truly gorgeous.Hope this helps you even a little bit. Good luck!
I have a U3 which is similar to the YUS5 except that U1, U3 are more heat and humidity sensitive due to the materials used in construction and outdated build techniques. YUS5 is a good replacement.
@@midnight4109 Thanks for the information - heat and humidity are factors where I live with long, hot and often humid summers. I didn't realise the YUS5 were more resistant to the fluctuations in temperature and humidity. I still haven't purchased the YUS5 but it is the front runner. I'm using my Yamaha P515 in the meantime.
Currently, I plan to have my YUS5 tuned every 8 months or so, but I would call the technician if the piano feels getting out of tune before 8 months hit. When my piano was brand-new, I got it tuned, tapering, like every 3 months for 3-4 times then 6 months.
When I said good bye to my Yamaha Spinet, I cried. Kimmy was bought in 1973 and was with me till December 2023. When I gave her to a family with 4 children. I bought a Yamaha YUS5-TA3. I am sure Yamaha YUS5's resonance and musical tone surpasses most of baby grand piano under 180cm. I am a big fan of Kawai piano but the YUS5 and CX Series's quailities are equal to German made piano. I am considering to upgrade to Yamaha C3X

I love her attention but I don’t think she has an ear for music, I’m not all that good a pianist. Maybe she is just generous.
How adorable your Maltese is for helping your practice! My Pomeranian used to be more sensitive to sounds and tended to get out of the room or sometimes begged me to stop playing in his way (which is barking😅), but now he is more patient and peaceful while I play. Dogs are so lovely!
