You can tell me whatever you want, but this guy should have become a camera man. The angles are awesome, the truck looks awesome, the lighting is awesome. It's just freaking awesome.
Yes it is really a joy seeing him get loads, move them and unload..... With doing that he dose get some amazing shots with out the wind blowing my eardrums out with my headset I use.... Wonderful job with the shots and the editing....
Orwell looks gd pulling that spread step deck
I always thought of it as your not trying to secure the load to the trailer but you are securing the trailer to the load.
In essence making the trailer & load as one.
Really like the way a stepdeck looks behind Orwell
I love your night drives and really appreciate all you do trucking love this truck
Load was a strange looking beast, but it beats getting a hundred sailers together and doing a FOD walk down on steel beach aka flight deck. Impressive piece of gear.
Steve, regarding Canadian National owning Illinois Central (And Canadian Pacific merging with Kansas City Southern) I believe that it was NAFTA which allowed this situation to be allowed. Prior to NAFTA there were very strict laws regarding the length of time that foreign equipment could be in the other country (I believe it was 30 days). In those days CN had four US subsidiaries: Central Vermont, Grand Trunk, Grand Trunk Western, and Duluth, Winnipeg, and Pacific. CP had Soo Line. After NAFTA these lines were absorbed into their parent companies. Meanwhile, US railroads did things slightly differently. For example Wabash (later Norfolk & Western after they took over Wabash) had operations in Ontario. For Canadian us they had locomotives built in Canada to avoid taxes and import duties. As a result these units were kept in Canada.
C&O did the same. And today, all EMD locomotives are made in Ontario.
americans own hugh amounts of critical infrastructure in Canada too,
Practically no counterweight on that wrecker. GREAT MUSIC !
The outriggers are your counterweight
Stay safe Steve
Hey stave how are you doing today my friend I like watching your RUclips videos and they are very educated and I like the content in the world and I like the way you explain things to your viewers
Interesting to learn how you shift your Orwell. I think all truck drivers should have some experience in manual transmissions. But the profession has changed and now some drivers are just steering wheel holders. I've watched many that can't even back a trailer up right.
18:00 no bypass yet. Going back 25 30 years ago trucks would stop for a meal. Now it’s 2 stoplights and keep driving.
Love the cameras on the trailer, so you can see what it takes to drive around corners and obstacles, ie roundabouts 😂
Hi Steve thats a great looking wrecker crane keep on trucking safe
Steve in my days of trucking i had a Eaton twin split gear box and a crash box the Eaton twin was fantastic gear box they still have in the States i believe ...ole you're trailer in America are completely different from UK we have low lowder and drone bone trailer they stretch out by pulling a pin you probably no Steve love watching your you tube video many thanks 👍 God bless America
She definitely looks good with a step deck on her back!
You went right past the company I'm leased on with Tucker. Right off 61 there in dubuque.
I pull a manac everyday. I’m 30,980 LBS empty with my 53’ manac steel combo and a 389 day cab. Can’t beat that
35:25 That is the biggest canary I have ever seen!
Good morning Steve
Great video Steve really enjoy all the different camera angles and your commentary and the music. Thanks for sharing stay safe Steve.
I noticed the noise just before you mentioned it and wondered if ti was the different trailer.
Awesome like night trucking and Orwell
Banging them out dude keep it up
Gee the country is looking nice on the way across to Denver😎
Wow, that unloading operations gives a whole new meaning to “lift and separate”! 🤭
Any FSC Railroading soon? I would like to see that SD-9 unit. Thanks and great Vlogs as usual.
Steve after reading your comments these people would be lost in my nabors ol' Peterbuilt it's got a 6x4 with both sticks overdrive....that would leave them scratching there heads...
When you carry the load, you own the load.
I love the sign " diesel exhaust fluid" LOL
I have not driven bigger cars than vans, but my motto is to be prepared for the worst case scenario, and to drive defensive. Had save me from a lot of possible accidents true the years.
Railfan has cameras in that yard to your left at traffic lights multi line interchange there on here somewhere.
Trailer is 55' long. 48' bottom deck and 7' top. Pulled for awhile. Best trailer I pulled.
Sorry. 45' bottom & 10' top.
Saludos desde lujan bs ar
As usual, a very cool video, Steve. Love the camera shot looking forward over the cab, when you take off an shifting gears I can see the tork of the Cat engine.
11:52 Orwell sure need a face wash after so many flies swatting.
Steve, your discussion about shifting a manual transmission reminded me of something. Back in the early 1980's VW (I believe) had a light on the dash that would turn on when it was safe to shift gears.
That idiot light was setup to persuade drivers to shift earlier to be more economical in fuel consumption. (I had one in my first car, 1988 Chevy Cavalier 4 banger 5MT)
@stuartaaron613 That had nothing to do with "floating" the gears.
Yeah Steve I agree, if you don’t get it you don’t get it! I was lucky enough to work around/with my dad on load securement, and shifting a truck as a young kid. Then as I started driving we (sister and I both) learned how to drive around trucks! Something that should be taught because it puts professional drivers in much more danger with a lot of the motoring public having no clue how to operate when semis are around you.
When I learned to drive truck I started out floating them fortunately when I took the road part of my CDL the certifier didn’t care what technique I use shifting so long as I could get the gears
Pretty scary that thing was swinging like that! Seen a lot of rotators operate and never have they seen a load around like that. Whew. That operator definitely needs some additional training from someone!
Nice trailer
My old barber that I had growing up drove an old diesel VW Rabbit with a manual. A clutch would last him about 300000 miles because he floated gears. Before he retired, he went through the car, new clutch and flywheel, glow plugs, plug controller, water pump, etc, so his kid could use it in college. The son burned out the new clutch within 30 miles. That Rabbit had over 900k on the clock.
How? Did he slip the clutch the whole 30mi?
I've got equivalent a caddy pickup 🛻 VW golf

Good evning brother
Dam hope the driver's not seriously injured. One of our Hotshot Driver's is recovering after they was in a bad accident not there fault. A driver fell asleep on the incoming lane and plowed into her bad. She's ok still has to do therapy since she had to get neck surgery and back surgery. She was worried about bill's and Jesse and co-owner told her don't worry about anything cause our insurance is paying for everything including the surgery's and she was like that's good but what about my rent and vehicle payment. Jesse paid them off for her including her electric bill and cable and Internet. She was happy Jesse did that. He said u don't have to worry about paying me back alright and she said yes Mr James. Jesse just shook his head. He hate's being called Mr James. Cause it's like your a school teacher. She was really worried cause we just purchased that 2020 Ford 350 SuperDuty Extended Cab for her. She's been with us for a very very long time. She's married and her husband also a Hotshot Driver was at the shop helping Mechanic's. He knew something was wrong when Jesse pulled in the shop on his Heritage Softail. And wrecker's was arriving with the truck and trailer. She was heading back from OKC. I already heard about it on the scanner and her yelling on the CB Radio. Tue impact knocked her cellphone off the mount she had on the dashboard. We have one of those Rotary Crane Truck's and trust me I have seen Jesse lift heavy stuff and machinery off trailer's and even load them up. Trust me I know how to do that also. I can even get on the load and help them with the cable's from getting tangled up with other cable's. Jesse uses the wireless remote control that's easy to do.
Why shouldn't a Canadian company own stuff in the US, you guys don't think anything of owning companies in Canada or any other country in the world. How many million acres of prime US farmland does the Chinese government own? You need to check that out!!
Howdy, something keeps unsubbing me. Like 5 times now. Yes I drove a Freightliner fld. 60 Detroit 13 over. Flatbedder for life.
Hey Steve the way that silver of that step deck looks behind Orwell maybe a good choice of colour to paint yours🤔
I was born in 85 and I never double clutch I used the RPM to shift gears
I also drive a 3406b with a 13 speed. When shifting down a gear going up hill what RPM do you like to shift at? Can't wait to see your step deck in action.
🍭OH SO SWEET🍭 LUV the night driving!🙏🏼💖👍🏻🇺🇸🌞
Don't forget that mexico runs DPUs in the U.S. too
Steve it’s not that cn owns infrastructure here in USA it’s the railway companies borrow locomotives from each other cp does the same thing with CSX
CN does indeed own infrastructure here, but they also use "power by the hour"
I appreciate you explaining how this equipment works that you are hauling. That piece is very interesting.
Steve talking about sweet young things double clutching… in truck driving school they had an old JB Hunt cabover with a 7 speed. they used it when trainees switched to actual road driving. the old 7 speeds had no spacing between the gears because it didn’t have a low & high side. all 7 gears are in a row. you can cover all 7 gears slots with a closed fist. the trainers at the truck driving school told the trainees that 7 speed would put hair on your chest. said 9 speed drivers were pu**ees.. this was b4 automatics became a thing 34 years ago
Steve, why can foreign ( US ) companies own critical infrastructure in Canada? Both cable and telephone companies in Canada are owned by US companies. The truth is Canada and the US are so closely tied together with infrastructure and economically that they are effectively one country. Legally they are not one but in many ways they are.
No we don't. Canada specifically has laws that demand any foreign business within Canada have to create a Canada division that acts semi separate from the main headquarters. It's their way of ensuring Ottawa has more say then DC, London or Beijing.
@@danielseelye6005 yet majority ownership of shaw cable is comcast and rogers cantel is at&t
@@jaquigreenlees Shaw and Rogers CanTel may be part of Comcast and AT&T respectively, but those branches don't answer to them as much as they do Ottawa. Canada still has quite a bit of their protectionist laws in place compared to the US and make sure to keep that control.
Look up the rules for foreign business setting up in Canada as branches.
One day the US is going to invade canada and they will be thankful
If that's true, glad the higher cost of living in Canada stays north of the border.
Those headlights look a bit weak
Have you thought of changing them to LED style
Double clutch? What's that? I remember someone who was a instructor told me that the way it is taught is driver's training.
I leaned "floating" is the way to go if its done right.
I agree steve trashy automatics
Because they bought out Kansas City railroad lines
Was taught many years before you were born that the clutch was a stop and go pedal
That is because you are not a rookie but, if I were to become a professional driver I would have to double clutch because I have never driven a manual transmission. 🙂
The best truck driver in USA ✌ love from morocoo Steve ✌ have a lovely life sir. Good luck 💟
Wood it b handy to carry wood wedges
( Could be nailed to deck)
Merhaba çok güzel bir video olmuş
Just because you don't double clutch don't assume that no one does,I have been double clutching for over 45 years that's the way I was taught and still do it today and floating gears doesn't make anyone a truck driver.
I’m going to disagree with you on one thing people still double clutch a family member of mine fired his own son over him floating gears in his dads truck
Isnt floating gears hard on the transmission and the gearbox? I mean i get why he does it but seems kinda rough
Double clutching is ridiculous
Looks like those guys need more practice with their tator!
So, I'm curious, is the transmission an Eaton Transmission? If so, there is a good chance I had a part in making it, as I used to work for Eaton transmissions.
Steve how’s the freight liner coming
Steve I drove a 10 speed at one time where you pre-selected the half gears. just let off the throttle & it would automatically shift the half gears. on yours do you have to let off the throttle before moving the red shifter button. or just pre-select?? I actually liked a 10 speed once I got used to it.. on a 10 speed you split the low side & high side gears.
Those were called super 10's. I drove one the first year I drove.
It's a preselect for his 13 speed
@@blueovaltrucker OTRX (Olathe Ks) had 10 speeds until they went out of business in the late 90’s. best company I ever drove for
why? because americans own hugh amounts of critical infrastructure in Canada too,
CP Rail owns KCS they merged
The Committee on Foreign Investment in the US is responsible.
i never heard driving called floating till the 90's, before that we just called it gear jammin' cause that what we did, but double clutching never made sense to me, i guess the government wants you to use that thar clutch. automatics, or slush boxes as we called them, horrible things, but the industry is going that a way with rigs, they also taking the J-bar/ trolley valves outta rigs too. which is sad seeing use to use that in bad weather to keep my trailer from passin me while on iced up roads. but i just an retired old school trucker.
Hey Steve I survived hurricane Milton
Must be first day using a rotator?
the operator is there because of seneority not knowledge that is union for you
😊
Orwell has no wet line
Steve nice trailer your pulling
do you have to do anything different if the trailer has abs breaks and your truck does not
Whats the neat music??
I agree those automatic transmissions are absolutely trash
Steve, Does Orwell have a wet line
No.
the candian company see's us americnas as money bags despite whats been going on with our nation
he kinda looks like shrek
So much rambling
As much as a risk Canada is owning some the the US Railroad.... I would be more worried about a hostile country like China with it's fingers in all the tech and land that it owns.... Yes even a friendly country like Canada has a small risk, but like I said they are friendly. It has been over 200 years of working with them from last time we fought them. Now China on the other hand is playing games risking war with Japan, Philippines and Taiwan.....
🤝🤝👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

@danielseelye6005 Am asking the haters why the negative emotions. So far, there has been no response. Is it maybe his sister and / or her husband that cause too much family strife with the Texas parents.
@@TerryAnderson-k7e That's fine, all good between us. My response was to OP.
@danielseelye6005 I understand you and I admire Steve and his channel. Why is the other person calling him derogatory names?
I absolutely loved the automatic truck that I got to drive for a few weeks way back when. I can only imagine that they're 10x better by now. Absolutely nothing wrong with wanting an auto instead of the other. Belittling anyone who drives one is just small minded.
Very nice load on deck !!!🥸
Nice trailer
