I tried Greta Gerwig’s writing routine 📖🩷- it’s a cozy, chaotic masterpiece.

“Losing your identity in the place that’s most familiar to you” 😭😭 That hit me in my heart!

The reading things out loud technique actually sounds really smart. Might try it.

Let me know if you do! You have to edit for grammar/punctuation, but I think it's a really fun way to reread and edit your work

I've considered trying writing routines myself, but I know I struggle with strict routines and structures because I also have (undiagnosed) ADHD. I need room for flexibility and a to-do list hahaha Greta's routine sounds doable for me though. Thanks for sharing!

That's what I really loved about this routine in particular! It wasn't so much a solid structure as much as it is a process for tapping into our inherent creativity. I definitely learned a lot !

Absolutely adored this! Love watching your channel grow and all the fun things you’re trying out! It makes me wanna do the same!
I really liked your idea of picking tropes I hate to subvert them. I’ll definitely be trying that.

Lately it's been super cold days where I get so brain chilled I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about but it's okay.
Greta Gerwig, who's been one of my heroes since 2017 (the year she brought Lady Bird to TIFF), has made initial drafts that are 300+ pages and this is uncouth for a comedy. But the really good part of this process is her limit as a writer saying "any more of this and I'll rip my hair out". And that's where she creates the work as a whole. If that makes sense.
And Gerwig makes you think about what tropes annoy you, but for me, MANY MANY tropes annoy me and it's a matter of the context heightening the irritants of some of them. Good storytelling will push past all this, whether you're getting it from Greta Gerwig or Olivia Wilde or Emerald Fennell. They've found the gold, then we find the gold. We are writers.

Ah, another neurodivergent writer! I’m autistic and a poet. I tend to stick to a routine as my brain justifies my day as a routined writer

Do you think female friendship is possible without jealousy? Btw I really love your peaceful videos and got some helpful advice from them.

Thank you so much and I absolutely do! That said, just because it's possible doesn't mean it's easy. I can be a jealous person, but reflecting and going to therapy has helped me realize that that's something for me to work on, not a flaw in my friendships. It isn't that female friendships are inherently full of jealousy, it's that we're often so used to comparing ourselves, so working on my own self esteem has helped a ton!
