Mortal Kombat II (Game Boy) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

- A playthrough of Acclaim's 1994 versus-fighting game for the Nintendo Game Boy, Mortal Kombat II.
Played through as Kitana.
Mortal Kombat II is a pretty good one-on-one fighter for the Game Boy. Don't confuse it with the horrendous attempt at porting the first one - MK was a travesty in its Nintendo handheld form! MK2 however came a long way in its attempt to right all of the wrongs of its forebearer.
The animation is far more fluid this time, and the controls are a million times better as a result. Special moves can be pulled off reliably in this installment, and it even includes Babality moves and a few secret characters!
If, for whatever reason, you insist on playing arcade ports for the Nintendo Game Boy in this day and age, and you are trying to decide on which of the Mortal Kombats for the original Game Boy you should go with, pick this one. It's the best one, no doubt.

This actually looks fantastic for GB.
Ahh the amounts of double a batteries I've wasted on this damn game. Good old times.
Against all odds, Probe actually went back to the drawing board and fixed the mess that was MK to give us a SIGNIFICANTLY better sequel in MK2. It's actually playable! :D
A little late for Lenny...lol My grandma bought not one, but TWO copies of the trashheap that was mk1, so me and my sis could play vs each other. Smh
Oh God hahahaha. Such a sweet gesture on her part, but of all games.... :D
I remember being super impressed they had both Smoke and Jade as hidden characters, that was a big deal.
wow I remember playing this for hours
I actually remember owning a copy of this along with the SNES version of MK2. I was surprised by how much of an improvement this game was over the Game Boy version of the first Mortal Kombat.
I remember back when this came out and renting it from Dollar video. The babality music brings back memories.
Jax's idle animation looks like he's Jaxing off
He is. That's precisely why he lost to Kitana.
So many batteries and hours spent on this game. There is a piece of music I joke around my kid. I can finally show him where the music came from.
Can’t believe that piece of music is still stuck in my heqd
MK2 and Primal Rage both looked really good on Game Boy.
My cousin gave me MK2 as part of a trade for another game.
That's.. actually a rather impressive job of getting around the Gameboy's hardware limitations..
I agree. I had this game a long time ago. I didn't even know how to do the things like fatalities or battling Jade.
I'm impressed too.
3-ish backgrounds?!
Fancy!
Man this release for home ports was a phenomenon. Tossing this in the GB for a car ride, then playing it on SNES or Genesis must have been wild haha.
Those were solid ports for sure.
My friend was watching me play this game on my hacked PSP and said it sounded like fly swatters.
Imagine playing this and right in the middle of gameplay, the screen just fades away cuz your batteries died 😭😭😭
best version of all mortal kombat
I loved this port of MK II
Hey, a sequel that works. After MK2, they went back to square one.
MK3 pls.
Pretty interesting port.
Sometimes you just need your fix of "Mortal Kombat 2 soundtrack"... mmh
1:29 Jax: "What time is it?"
I'm sorry, but the way that his sprite moving makes me think that he's asking the time.
This was the time when the classic gameboy slowly disappeared from the market
how come MK3 didn't even had idle animations like this one?
Is other developer

Goro lair jade noob sailbot smoke arcade game
Game boy fan kitana excellent outstanding flawless victory
Shortest Mortal Kombat ever?
Ah the music brings me bak
I had this game when I was really young. I don't even remember the exact age. 5 or 6 maybe? I ended up losing the cartridge.
This game is awesome, but I am never using Kitana on the Mortal Kombat 2 on the Game Boy version!
I may have 2 frames per second is best of the 3 gb mk ,versions actually game play is close to the original
cool more more more
dam they only have 2 frames per move
That gameboyish filter makes me tired ,i can hardly imagine that we spended tons of battery’s along in a good lighted environment just to be able to barelly see the screen, but that blurrish greenish did help to add more depth to the game by covering those dithering artifacts making it look less rawish.
Literally all you needed was a light.. nobody actually HAD to deal with not seeing the screen. The nuby game light was an amazing little attachment.
