- i had planned to sing John Prine's, "That's the Way the World Goes 'Round"" with an extra original verse (see below) BUT i heard Carsie Blanton sing her original song of love and appreciation for John Prine's gifts.. (using a John Prine tune) and was absolutely mesmerized by the love, beauty and brilliance of the songwriting..and scrapped my idea and sang this cover instead .. it is a pale rendition beside Ms Blanton's original here:

ALSO.... do yourself a favour and listen to other originals and covers of classics by Ms Blanton.. incredibly honest and beautiful ... i asked in comment if she would mind if i sang a cover of this tune, but didn't hear back..i'll certainly remove my cover if she wishes

This is so good Michael. I remember when I first became familiar with John Prine‘s music. I was so late to the party. For years I was into jazz. Then progressive/classic rock. Then I spent years focusing indie rock. But around 2011 I found myself becoming more enamored with americana/folk music. And of course all of the artists of the day were inspired by John. It made me go back and familiarize myself with his catalog.
thanks John, as i wrote, i had planned on writing/singing a tribute for the guy, but Carsie's song is SO SO perfect in it's honouring and embracing his writing and his songs and the patina of his life....i was totally humbled by the depth and layers of her writing.. and even her performance is beyond the pale too... but, i just had to sing it..
JP passed me by for some reason, this is a beautifully written tribute though, I see she got 19 thousand views in 2 days ! Excellent cover Michael.
i think she had a couple of hundred when i heard it first ... seems to have struck a chord with many... and i'm not surprised as the lyrics are so brilliant and reminiscent of JP's writing and tunes.. thanks Graham ..all best wishes to you and your family
