- Forget everything Disney taught you, mermaids are freaking scary and if they existed should be hunted into extinction.

Yes yes, I know... Greek mythology doesn't have a monopoly on mermaids/sirens, they've appeared in cultures around the world since ancient times.
Yes yes, I know... In Greek mythology they actually were originally half-bird. It shifted in the West for some reason.
Yes yes, I know... it's not fair to blame Hans Christian Anderson for the "cute-ifying" of evil mermaids. Like most fairy tales from the Germanic/Scandanavian region, the Little Mermaid had elements of dark tragedy. Really, we should be blaming Disney.
Just go with it.
Scenario about diseases from the anime ok
*satisfied mythology geek noises*
Was actually gunna say about the greek Harpy sirens lol
@Pravus Gaming please try my scenario called The Tiktok App. It's a scenario where you enslave humanity and let them get addicted to Tiktok. The author name should be MagicalArcher97386 or Vincent Conti.
In the original HC Andersen story the sea witch took her voice by cutting out her tongue. After losing her tail, walking on legs felt like walking on broken glass. And when the prince married the princess, the little mermaid was was offered a way out; she could kill the newly married couple and regain her tail, but she didn't do it, and she dissolved into sea foam at the first break of dawn. It was a very dark tale, as was literally every European fairy tail before Disney got their grubby hands on it.
Some of the works of HC Andersen have been animated and put on youtube, and I highly recommend them.
The bit with his wife was adorable :)

Pravus: "Viking mermaids: the most horrifying thing you can imagine."
Mongol mermaids: Am I a joke to you?
I'm imagining a mermaid with open mouth and surprised look on her face flipping in vast grass plains next to a poney like fish on the ground x)
@@k.v.7681 There's actually a name for those fish ponies: hippocampi.
How would a mermaid ride a horse?
@@bobsmith7066 they're not, they're riding a hippocampus which is part fish, part horse.

Mermaids in Viking mythology
Selkies: Norse Mermaids
In Faroese and Scottish mythology selkies (or silkies) are seals who can take the human form when they take off their seal skin.
This version of mermaids only has fish tails when in the water. And it's clear that the end game is choosing one path or the other, merpeople try to destroy humanity or co-exist with them.
"Mermaids are scary"
Since this is against princesses, I approve
I want to be a time lord/merman that’s evil.
"I only killed about a billion people." Pravus 2020
No worries!
We have "nøkke", which are shapeshifting water spirits. Closest thing to mermaids I guess.
Interesting information.
I remember hearing about Viking tales. One of the first ones was about mermaids known to be super attractive and having hypnotizing voices. They sung the Vikings into the sea straight to their death
Af least Im pretty sure this was a Viking tale too. Because pirates have very simular tales
@@abyssal_phoenix I'm pretty sure those were sirens instead of mermaids singing you to the sea to drown you.
@@TheHerobrineOfficial weren't sirens the name for such type of mermaids in greek/roman mythology?

I think that pravus plays this game to practice before deploying a virus on the world
FORESHADOWING
to all out there watching... if you didn't read the news tab on top, please do! the author did quite the work in there!!
I always wanted to buy a real silicon mermaid Tail. And I am looking forward to draging people down into the ocean as soon as I have one
*BEGONE FOUL SEA CREATURE!*
Laughs in depths charges
(Laughs in same)
Lol when u go to the beach make sure to drag random guys
(Laughs in depth charges)
Path-dependent property is lacking here... I mean, you shouldn't have a scenario allow you to choose the lethal ending and the benevolent ending at the same time.
I think the scenario creator was referring to the NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.
Yugoslavia... now that's so stereotypical American of you
@Jasper Klee Balkans would be just fine.
OY BLYAT! yugoslavia hasn't existed for 28 years now!
Him saying yugoslavia just triggered me immediately.
@@SnowWhite-ov9of Unfortunately, he is not the only one, many people, even near the Balkans tend to call it Yugoslavia
@@zagorkupski9836 yes, sadly
My first car was from Yugoslavia. Small, made of recycled tank steel and out of production. It had much in common with its mother country.
actually their there to yugoslavias
the socialist federal republic of yugoslavia died in 1992
the federal republic of yugoslavia died in 2003
when it was reformed and renamed the state union of serbia and montenegro
that lasted until 5 june 2006 when montenegro decared independence
also in february 2019 FYR macedonia changed its name to North Macedonia
FYR=Former Yugoslavien Republic
I'd prefer have this virus, rather than the current global pandemic. Becoming a mermaid/merman sounds epic!
*Except for the fact you probably would have to eat human flesh as a diet*
Hey pravus, can you stop going for lethality and use the scenarios to their full extent?
NEVER KILL ALL HUMANS WE DON'T DESERVE TO LIVE!
Yeah, it disappoints me when we dont get to see all paths and possibilities.
@@amp1885 yeah he just goes for very repetetive transmissions and gets to the symptoms last. And when he gets to the symptoms he just murders everybody.
Well, it does give his viewers a reason to try the scenario for themselves. I do agree that showing off a little bit more would be nice, though.

Disney: Oh mermaids are so beautiful
Most mythology: They used to be birds you fucking ruined it. Also they're supposed to fucking tear you into shreads.
If I ever made a scenario, I would make so many grammatically errors I could just to annoy Pravus :)
I almost fell for it

“Mermaids frickin’ terrifies” -Pravus Gaming 2020
The fucking odds of me thinking about The Little Mermaid last night, then this is uploaded.
Classic Ariel will always be the best Disney princess.
For the climate in the Balkans, i can say (for Bulgaria) its heavy in all seasons:
Summer-Most of the times extreme heat (up to 43 C°)
Autumn-Normal temperature from 30-10(10-0 rarely)
Winter-Usually winters are cold with temperatures if 5- -25C° (In the past few years The Winters were not cold and there wasn't a lot of snow)
Spring-Usually like Autumn.
Translation into Fahrenheit for Pravus:
43 C = 109.4 F
10 C to 30 C = 50 F to 86 F
0 C to 10 C = 32 F to 50 F
-25 C to 5 C = -13 F to 41 F
Thanks! I will note that too!
Thanks for the gameplay Pravus, you made me able to enjoy the content of Plague Inc (without going into some of the more distrubing content)
I am curious about the full symptoms, transmissions and abilities of this custom scenario since the peace option effectively just ended the game play

Disney:Mermaids are cute friendly creatures
Pravus:THEY LITERALY EAT YOU ALIVE WHATS CUTE ABOUT IT
Me:SHE KILLED MY DUDE IN DARKEST DUNGEON I DONT THINK ITS CUTE
Damn it, never knew that Mermaids could summon fucking tsunamis and thunderstorms that can destroy cities. I've just changed my mind, Mermaids are OP.
So, look at the news at the top at 7:46, he says “not cool” and immediately after, “not cool” shows up on the news board...
Hans Kristian Andersen actually kinda made Mermaids sound bad Because the little Mermaid har to kill her love to turn human which She did in his story but in Disneys version She of course didn't kill him
the seductive voice was kinda the opposite of what it was meant to do
Pravus: Mermaids should be hunted to extinction
Me: Yeah No, Mermaids are unique and should be protected.
Well, I mean, mermaids are pretty hot
agree, maids are hot

Edit: when the water turns into beer
The Little Mermaid (Danish: Den lille Havfrue) is a bronze statue by Edvard Eriksen, depicting a mermaid becoming human. The sculpture is displayed on a rock by the waterside at the Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen, Denmark. So yes they know about them in scandanavia :)
15:19The original greek sirens were part bird, part woman (and as far as I know, female only). Mermaids are a different mythological species. In most stories with mermaids, mermen also exist.
Oh my god I was literally thinking "A scenario where the plague turns people into fish would be cool" about 15 minutes ago
did pravus Say "forklore at 00:56? or is it just me i listened multiple times.
Man, I love me some good "forklore".
Did he just said Yugoslavia?
16:35 -- And this is why I love this channel :P
might be the best thumbnail no cap
I think the game decided the balkan regions to be cold as there the winter gets really cold but at the same time summer is usually extremely hot (by more tame standards of summer)
Greek Sirens are more closely related to Harpies, having feathers, wings and talons not gills and fins. The confusion comes from the modern German Lorelei that combines the song of Sirens with the body of mermaids. Otherwise a good scenario.
Pravus would make a good ELA teacher
This is zombie scenario, if anything.
´...was found lifeless on the ground... rushed to hospital... wakes up next day...´ Yup, she´s a zombie!
Mermadic Plague: *Exists*
Me who dreamed to be a mermaid since childhood: You son of a Bitch, I'm in.
Love it Pravus
I feel like this is a foreshadowing...
I have a suggestion for a Custom scenario you can play: "civilization" by DiamondMob04 (i am not the one who made it i just liked it) hope you wanna play it :)
That was a good shrek impression
"Well I wasn't seductive then to be honest"

The bit with the mermaids getting legs comes from the movie Splash.
Pravus! Finland has "Näkki". That is close enough

Me, a mythology nerd: *cracks knuckles*
Depends on the type. Certain ones are actively killers, while some are usually just mischievous, but will kill when angered. Others have the goal to marry a human, while still others fight to defend their homes from humans. Some live in saltwater, some live in freshwater, some can go between the two. Some can take fully human forms, some stick to the half-human-half-fish form that Hans Christian Andersen popularized in the West, some look more like monsters.
They tend to have a love for music.
The only think they all have in common is some affinity for water, with the ability to live in it unharmed, unlike humans.
Sirens, Nereides, Naiades, and Oceanids in Greece, Merrows and Morgens in Ireland, Ceasg (kee-ask) and Kelpies in Scotland, Selkies in Britain and Iceland, Finfolk in Scandinavia, Rusalka in Russia, Undines (also spelled ‘Ondines’) from Paracelsus von Hohenheim’s writing (so in Switzerland?) Lorelei in Germany (also spelled ‘Loreley’, although that’s a name), Sirena Chilota and Aicaya in the Caribbean, Encantado and Iara in Brazil, Ningyo in Japan, and Marakihau in New Zealand are just some examples of this worldwide mythological group of creatures.
Supernatural powers include: emotion manipulation, healing, transformation of self and (sometimes) others, weather manipulation, aquakinesis (water manipulation), magical songs, etc.
It’s a very diverse group of creatures.
Oh, BY THE WAY, Hans Christian Andersen kinda wrote The Little Mermaid to mock the stupidity of obsessive love. Dude had multiple loves, female and male, and was still single his whole life, until he died of liver cancer at the age of seventy. All of his stories are social commentary.
Hey Pravus wheres the They Are Billions Campaign though?
good to know pravus is part of the shrek cult
6:47 “Man freed after 12 years stuck in hole”
Honestly I’m kinda feeling My Bride is a Mermaid for that body morph and tail thing. There’s a running joke involving their legs getting wet and poofing into tails and trying to hide them.
you should play call of cthulhu if you haven't already, i would myself but i suck at unlocking safes, despite having the clue right infront of me
Don't think Norse mythology has anything like mermaids, but they do have water horses called kelpies which bait humans into riding them and subsequently drag the humans underwater and drown them.
Wasn't the first friendly mermaid tale about the Warsaw coat of arms?
Seductive voices: *ASMR starts*
OIA is not an island but a village in Santorini
Mermaids and sirens are two ENTIRELY different creatures
Mermaids are the possible ofspring of the mother of semiramis and are mostly harmless
Sirens are basterd interpolation of winged women that feasted on sailors DAM CHRISTIANS
One symptom no eating seafood, then can’t look at seafood, can’t listen to people talking about it.
So sirens don't have a male counterpart, but Poseidon's son was a double tailed merman.
All hail Lord Pravus
why does this have barely anything
Can you please play my scenario? It’s called Pestilance by Pestulancecreator. Please, No one has tried it before.

Not gonna lie, it's starting to just come off as mean how much you snipe at people's spelling and grammar mistakes. We get it, it's not great, it doesn't need emphasising every two seconds, you know what they're trying to say.
Greek sirens are birb girls, not fish ones. They sing along the shores, out of the water. :/

3:27 WAT R YE DOING IN MI SWAMP!
Scandinavians might have something like kelpies? Mer-Seals?
pravus hasnt posted in 2 days am getting worried now
Am I crazy or something? Why Pravus gaming name being renamed to only Pravus?
Pravus doesn't have to make seductive voice, beacuse his normal voice is seducing enough
