Just did this to my H3 Hummer, It absolutely works!!! Replaced my exhaust manifold and installed new sensor..kept throwing P0135 (heater circuit code) tried this n test drive 40 miles after..no more MIL light!! Be sure and clear your code b4 you reconnect the sensor!!!
Great video! Thanks. 30 minutes of work and the P0141 seems to be gone for good in in my Mk3. Installed the resistor close to the lambda sensor connector behind the rear left tail light.
Excellent work SpyderLEE. On an MR2 Mk3 it's even easier if you remove the lhs indicator/brake cluster lens and remove the connector from the back of the radiator expansion bottle. Much less fun than trying to strip and solder wires from underneath the car, but ensures a neater job.
This was the first video I saw by you when it came out 5 years ago when I was trying to figure out how to decat my mr2 which I didn’t do but I’ve watched all your mr2 spyder videos ever since. I can’t believe it’s been over 5 years now!! Anyway I finally decided to turbo my mr2 and might need some help so I’ll be rewatching your videos!! Ps 0 thumbs down
Side note, it was actually picked up on the MOT and had to be removed for the test. I have since relocated it to under the hand-brake cover, before the connection. Hopefully it works just as well, we'll see!
Hi Vari just wondering if it work in your Toyota Yaris?? I am also trying to bypas/o2 sensor or simulated in order to remove my catalytic converter ,,, and please o led me know ??
First of all I would like to thank you for taking the effort and the time to show us the video but the only question that I have for you When you attach that resistor to the two heater circuit wires did you cut the wires or just did you attach it only like when you said you strip the wires that means you kept them connected or you just cut them and pull a wire from there straight to the resistor that part I didn't understand if you explain that to me our really appreciated thanks again
Hello SpiderLee I for one liked your video very much even though your from the UK/ RIGHT. I wish I lived close to people like you I would learn quite a lot and maybe even with some luck my 02 spider would look half as nice as yours does. Good day
Great video .. Looks like this is going to save my good bucks on my honda city ivtec. Im getting p0135 and upstream sensor seems to be malfunctioned. Can you please confirm if this will not impact fuel economy or cause to damage fuel injector or other stuff from engine??
I had P0135 and P0141 errors - I bought new sensors, admittedly cheap ones for £5 each direct from China and they have brought up the error codes 50 miles later. I also fitted the same sensor on my Suzuki Alto daily and they have also failed. Is there a chance something else could be a problem - the cat? I bought the cars with these fault codes already present. Both cats are intact and look visibly good. Would the EML coming on result in limp home mode in anyway resulting in default values for fueling etc? Also, as said my catalytic converter looks in good nick, there's no smoke at all - so should I gut the cat now before it does anything bad? It's on 101000 miles. I had to remove the bottom cat from the car to remove the O2 sensor - everything failed to remove it until putting a 1m long breaker bar on a snap-on socket in a vice! Would never have been able to remove it on the car.
I'm about to do this tomorrow. I need some help, so do I need 1 or 2 resistors ? Does each resistor tap into each wire, or do both wires tap into the resistor
Hello sir if i bring down the watts on the resistor to about 15 Watts youbtnink it may work i will be installing under seat drivers seat where harness is connected
I placed a 15 ohm resistor, giving total resistance 4.28 ohms, this delayed the return of my check engine light. o.k. now if I replace the 15 ohms with a 35 ohms this adds total resistance 5.12 ohms in parallel. Is this a danger for the car's computer?
Blessings, how long do you have to drive the vehicle after you install the resistor and did I need to cut the engine light off before I do this? 2003 accord 2.4 lx
Is this assuming a bad O2 sensor? Not my problem. I’m getting the P0141 code because my computer is not putting out the voltage to heat the sensor heating element. Good solution though.
Would the heater circuit, if malfunctioning, affect the starting of the vehicle? Im having an intermittent start, usually has to do with temperature of cabin. Not the temp of the engine. Sometimes i just drop the top for a few minutes while its in the shade and it starts. Wierdest thing ive ever seen. But Im being told that it might be the crank shaft sensor.Still doesnt make sense though. 🤔
The heater circuit is just to make the oxygen sensor hot fast because I think it has to reach about 371°c so that it reads accurately this is a good idea for the rear oxygen sensor but you would want the front oxygen sensor to read as accurately as possible because that is what controls the air fuel mixture and if that is not working right then your car is probably going to idle a little rough until it warms up all the way
Hi, will this Work on a 2002 Chrysler 300M? I'm tired of changing the Downstream O2 Sensors. Will I need the Same 25W 15Ohm Resistor? Thanks for any help.
Hi Lee, im struggling a lil bit .. i bought a 4 to 1 headers and install it on my mr2, i did had to extend the wiring for the o2 sensors but the ecu isnt liking that... idk what to do . Last thing i did i unplug one of the o2 sensors and disconnect the battery for 10 min, i also saw on spyder chat the they can be splice toguether to use only one o2 sensor but no idea o how to do it... it seems to run fine but i want a permanent solution... let me know if you can help me, btw its the 1zz engine
Dear Sir, Do you think this would work in my 2001 C5 Corvette? Have Hooker headers and not able to keep engine light off. Not passing SMOG test here in Nevada. Thanks, Ziggy.
Heater sensor has roughly about 13omhs of resistance. The correct way is to cut the black wires and add 15omh resistor . The resistor should be more than 12Watts . Keep that in mind that 25W 15omh resistor will be around 110 degrees C The heater circuit current draw is roughly 1Amp (0.9 ) . ECU will throw an error if it see difference in the current usage . Using 15omh resistor by tapping like in the diagram will give you (13*15)/(13+15) ~ 7omhs which is not correct. Black wires need to be cut from the O2 sensors Some ECUs are more tolerant and will throw an error if the amp drawn by the heater circuit is bellow 0.2 amps. So this will give you roughly 60omhs which will give you resistor temperature around 70C.
You mentioned in this video , about removing the pre-cats ,i have done this with a stainless manifold, my question is can you override these these two sensors all together . Thanks
I'm getting P0171 system bank too lean, and when i check the rear o2 sensor on the obd it's not getting any voltage. If i un plug the sensor and plug it back in it gets around .7-.8. and they light will stay off for a while until it comes back on and it's not getting voltage again. Not sure what the exact problem is if anyone has any ideas that would help! It's a brand new sensor I'm using from mr2Ben.
Hello; could you please tell me on which sensor shall i install this resistro ? I watched you vid one more time, but was not able to find out.............thanks again
To clarify... Does this solution mean there remains an underlying fault - you just don't see it (because this solution tricks the engine warning light)? If yes, then what are the consequences of not solving the problem? Thanks
Will this work on 1997 f150? I have the p0135 code and I replaced o2 sensor, pcm, and manifold and it still keeps coming up? Please let me know thank you very much.
Hi...I have a Honda CR-V o2 sensor ..wirings and connectors destroyed by my dog (unfortunately he already passed away due old age)...tried best to reconnect and connect countless times.. took 2days .... p0135 code finally off... but after 6months the code came back .. took my old notes for review.. but this time it took me 5days to solve the issue...only to know the culprit is grounding(-)..make sure ohm reading at best is 0ohm when u check all ground wires /terminals in the connector.. it worked for me..it may work for you too...
Is it suppose to from one black cable to the resistor and then from the resistor to the other black cable or on black wire to the other then to the resistor and then back to the second black wire ?
Hello and Thanks for this! One quick question if you don't mind. Do you have to install resistor on each O2 sensors? Or just one on certain O2 sensor? Thanks again and you are awesome!
just had a lush garage clear the light and mot it with it off... but im sick of it.. I must commend on your body kit and spoiler, looks really cool man!
Love all your Mr2 Spyder Videos..Thanks for posting them...Keep them coming :)
Brilliant. Going to try this hack this weekend! Many thanks for a great easy to understand video.
Were these spliced onto the wires of the sensor? Or was the heater circuit just run through the resistor and not the Sensor?

Hi do you have written in a similar way as on this card other errors concerning MR

Hello, I have one question. I have to do all the sensors?
Does the ford f150 have this too does it make ur heater not get worm
Hi,Did you put 1 white signal into 1 side of resistor and the other white signal into the other side of resister.?
I have no Catalytic Converters. Will this work for 2013 Ford Explorer 3.7?
Is this assuming a bad O2 sensor? Not my problem. I’m getting the P0141 code because my computer is not putting out the voltage to heat the sensor heating element. Good solution though.
What’s the wire gauge did you used?
My O2 sensors have five different wire colors, which ones are for the heater circuit
Thanks for the tip, just fitted very same resistor to mine, no more check light but the resistor gets extremely hot. Is this normal?
Yes that’s Normal. Just mount it out the way somewhere
Hi there, I'm trying to test my sensor - left side 14 ohms and left side 11.2 ohms - which one is duff? do you know please

Freddy O no mate I wouldn't have thought so. the heater circuit is mainly for emissions control.
Thanks. Thats what i figured being an o2sensor. Just making sure. I just cant leave any stone unturned.

Hey is there a similar resistor we can easily find here in the us? Not familiar with this so dont know what to exactly search for
Will it work on p0133?
Lot of help . Thank you very much
Great video Lee. Doing this mod today as one of my precar O2 sensors is now redundant. Wonder if i can leave the other 2 wires dead ended.
Can one resistor get connected to two sensors?
Thanks mate from Down Under
love your vids
questions,,,,is t really that important to take out the precats ?
Yes
Will this also work for front o2 sensors thanks
Yeah, no reason why not 👍
What kinda resistor is that is it for LED lights?
I have same problem
Heater sensor has roughly about 13omhs of resistance.
The correct way is to cut the black wires and add 15omh resistor . The resistor should be more than 12Watts . Keep that in mind that 25W 15omh resistor will be around 110 degrees C

Would this work for a neon srt4 and how much would I need to bypass my car
hello colleagues can you please tell me which cables should I connect the resistor to :)
Wouldn't this prevent your ECM from metering the correct air/fuel mix?
Nope. 4 wires per sensor, 2 circuits of 2 wires. The sensor circuit does air/fuel. This fault is on the heater circuit.
I cant find the resistor using search resistor rs-016736 on google.where do you gwt them and exactly what they call thank lee.
You mentioned in this video , about removing the pre-cats ,i have done this with a stainless manifold, my question is can you override these these two sensors all together . Thanks
David Richards not with the stock ECU. It needs them for fueling. But you can with a new ECU like the link storm for example
Your Up Early , Thanks for getting back . All the Best
