We have to remember Kaiba litterally kidnapped Yugi's grandpa and destroys his grandpa's blue eyes which BTW later in the series we know has a sentimental value, and that time our grandpa's soul is been kidnap, we all know in the anime the main protagonist has plot armor and "everything is gonna be alright in the end" advantage..... But what if it happens in real life, will you take a chance like that? You don't have plot armor, are you willing to do everything to save your grandpa?
@@gaurikiya To me, the more important question would be if Solomon would even *WANT* to be saved if it meant that Kaiba would end up seriously hurt or dead in the process? I highly doubt that Solomon would want his rescue to have come at the cost of Kaiba's life, even after what Kaiba had previously done to him.
I'm honestly cracking up at the idea of Kaiba and Yugi just shouting "PUUSYYYYYYY" at each other from across the duel field and I can't fuckin stop laughing
Yeah that card was super overpowered when it debuted. That card pretty much guaranteed your win if used right. Didn't help that Blue Eyes was the strongest monster at the time.
This is what made Season 4 impactful. Atem promised after this that he'd never go against Yugi's wishes again after that duel. Then episode 158 happened. Then Atem rightfully blamed himself. That's why he did. He remembered he messed up bad and broke his promise.
It's funny to hear about the "shockwave," US dubism to cover gor Kaiba more or less threatening to kill himself if Yugi attacked, which Atem with his yet unknown ancient egyptian pharoah morality was like, didn't give a damn. Winning was all that matters to Atem at any cost prior to that duel in Duelist Kingdom, and for Kaiba, he lost EVERYTHING, was willing to do anything to get his brother back, the only guy who tolerates him on the planet.
@@alicepbg2042 "More or less" is the appropriate terminology for unspecific Kaiba was the he steps over the edge of the castle, its not like he went into detail over the deed, lol.
I don't think Atem cared solely about winning, full stop. He knew he had to face Pegasus to save Yugi's grandpa, and beating Kaiba was the requirement to get that chance. He waqs willing to sacrifice Kaiba's life for grandpa's. Don't get me wrong, it's still messed up and gramps would've hated being saved that way, but Atem was doing it with at least a somewhat good reason. Also, let's not pretend that the actual Atem in the past wouldn't have murdered people to protect HIS people.
@Crona Makenshi Atem absolutely only cared about winning, lol. There may have been good reasons for why he wanted to win, but he couldn't care less about Kaiba's life. One element of early Dark Yugi was how unrelenting he was. He would punish folks for cheating with horrifying punishments. His morality was completely divorced from the heroes and even parallel to most of the villains he'd leave a crippled mess of human being. I would not want to run into pre-duelist Kingdom Atem.
I love the animation when Ancient Lamp forces the attack of Guardian of the Fortress to Cursed Dragon. Konami really needs to make new cards like this because it will be very funny to suddenly move the target for effect or attack to opponent's own monster.
Whenever i watch these vids, i just miss my old days when me and my friends used to play duel links. Just doing best of 3 duels, creating bs decks and playing them the next day. I miss those days
This is why I like old Yugioh more, you just cannot get back and forths like this anymore! Modern Yugioh has it's moments, but this is very clearly the vision they had for the game back when it was first released. Not "spend 15 minutes on turn 1 making a board that prevents your opponent from playing and forcing them to surrender".
My favorite part was when SeeReax used the very real Living Arrow card to fuse his Mammoth Graveyard with Rhymes' Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and morbed all over the rules.
Dp you guys remember when 3 random thugs cosplayed as the powerpuff girls and then proceeded to mess everything up? Seereax and Rhymestyle are doing the exactly the same Doto still in his cell, he put the costume backwards and couldnt make it out of prison
I like how everybody forgets kaiba put Yugi's grandpa in the hospital and ripped up an extremely sentimental card that was given to him in a life and death situation. I take some time to remind him that, and then tell him to get back up on that edge. The pharaoh would have to be holding me back.
Everytime they ask how they could have played with these decks, I ask myself if they forgot that in DK, there was no tributing. You could just play any monster (aside from ritual monsters, but even those didn't need to be in your hand to be summoned). So of course they had huge vanilla cards that totally brick you in a format where you have to tribute. I mean, you could at least try to simulate that by using this one field spell that allows you to pay life points to summon higher level monsters without tribute. Would still be different, but it would make these decks playable.
@@rhymestyle Obviously true. Kaiba would win 9 times out of 10 because Yugi lacks the cards to get rid of three Blue-Eyes + Monster Reborn. He won once with Exodia, once because he literally cheated and Blue-Eyes lost his attack points due to a virus and once because he fused his Mammoth with Ultimate Dragon which apparently weakens it.
In Yu-Gi-Oh! What If…. The Pharaoh attacked, and instead of learning about the power of friendship, had to learn how to downplay second degree murder to manslaughter.
You should check out a video called Kaiba gets Shadow Realm'd by Solid jj. It really gives a whole new perspective on the scene discussed in the intro.
Love these videos. I enjoy old school style way better even if there’s a small modern aspect thrown into play. But for people whose decks only consist of ultra rates and every card plays off of another, it’s not that your good, the game is literally playing for you at that point. Great videos guys!!!
The fact that Homie got blue eyes ultimate dragon on the field and then yugi got saved with multiply was so accurate to the anime lol detonate to destroy the ultimate dragon was pretty cool to see as well
7:47 Yup, I made my Childhood Deck and I quickly found out that Spellbinding Circle, as well as a few other Cards weren't in the Game for some reason. So I decided to put Shadow Spell in there instead.

Bro the main argument here was how does kariba expect to win against Pegasus if he can't win against yugi, like what he's gonna say "surrender Pegasus, or I'm gonna jump off this platform" Pegasus would be like sure go ahead, I'll still get your soul 😂
0:03 I never forgot the Duelist Kingdom duel. It is my favorite duel along with the Battle City duel, but the Duelist Kingdom duel holds a special place because of the Duel Disk battle and using the Expert rules that Kaiba came up with for this battle. It is is peak storytelling Yugioh. The gameplay (Super Expert rules) during Battle City play similarly to the Konami card game that changed its rules even further from the manga after the 1st several months the KCG been out since February 1999 and its trying to be as realistic as possible to make the game viable in real life. The Super Expert rules still retain the storytelling aspect of the game, but it lost its charm for the reasons I mentioned. Each duel Yami Yugi and Kaiba had improved the intensity each time. From their 1st battle in chapter 10 to Death-T to Duelist Kingdom to Battle City. It got better. Their 1st duel didn't have any highlights aside from Yami Yugi summoning Daemon no Shokan (Eng localization: Summoned Skull), one of the top 5 monsters in the game, which forced Kaiba to cheat and take Sugoroku's Blue-Eyes out of his pocket and summon Blue-Eyes. Their 2nd duels highlight was overcoming 3 Blue-Eyes and summoning Exodia. Their 3rd duel highlights Kaiba coming up with a plan to crush Yugi's deck then summoning Blue-Eyes Ulitmate Dragon. Yami Yugi makes a GOATed comeback to beat Ultimate by fusing the undead Mammoth with the light Ultimate causing the fusion to weaken/kill Ultimate then he seals the game with Kuriboh and multiply, the most deadliest combo in the game. This crushed Kaiba so bad that he attempted suicide in order to win. Their last duel highlights the battle of God, but not just that, how they were countering each other, then after God's clash, they go back to their iconic monsters to finish the game. Takahashi knew how to make a rivalry and that's why Yami Yugi and Kaiba are my favorite rivals in manga (extended to anime during the manga adapted scenes) and in the entire Yugioh series. And most importantly, they are not friends as Takahashi stated in The Gospel of Truth. Most rivals turn into friends afterwards. Not these guys.
The deck won things in the anime because Duelist Kingdom didn't force the duelists to make tribute summons. 😆 Yugi depended so hard on high level monsters in that arc because he could just straight up summon them.
I think Yugioh Abridged covered it best, because the game with no physical properties will definitely not affect Kaiba, but the fear that Kaiba might survive is what stops Yugi.
“It’s time to duel, POO-SEE!”
- Yami Yugi
Kaiba saying give me another turn or I jump was basically the first homie drop.

Yeah that card was super overpowered when it debuted. That card pretty much guaranteed your win if used right. Didn't help that Blue Eyes was the strongest monster at the time.
Facts it was such a cheap auto win basically card 😂😂😂
Kinda funny that if Konami re-released it now it would help your opponent more then it would hurt them
Yea for the whole duel too they nerfed the shit out of it. I still have the original holo copy it's just like Deck dev but opposite.
Didn’t it also banish the cards in the anime too?

That was the most Kaiba game I've ever seen. Summoning Ultimate Blue Eyes, losing it, and then bringing it back was amazing!
Love a good Yugi vs Kaiba duel. Gotta be the most iconic thing not only in Yu-Gi-Oh but in anime in general

The green letters in Rhyme's shirt just makes all the visuals fly through him. It's kind of comical on its own.
When I just saw the lamp activated, his dragon crashed into Curse of Dragon, I'm like "whoa! I didn't know it can do that"
SAME LITERALLY MIXED ME

One good thing about modern yugioh is you can go out and get a milkshake before your opponents turn ends
id be telling Kaiba ta do a backflip when he falls 😂
Yeah XD I wouldn’t care either
I can just imagine the English voices of yugi and kaiba just calling each other 🐈’s
