- Learning to wheelie takes a lot of time and most importantly patience. If you go out and practice a lot, you will find that it becomes easy very quickly! I am no expert by any means though.

pro tip: buy frame sliders and extra bar ends & take off your mirrors or remount them BEFORE you start practicing
Frame sliders getting an impact will cause a stress fracture in the frame. Worst product ever imo
@@depfeffel6455 When a bike is 'dismounted at speed' the kinetic energy going forward dispels a portion of the initial impact against the road, placing more strain laterally against the plastic frame slider puck. Certainly not enough to fracture a motorcycle frame. If my motorcycle frame were to crack from such an impact, I would re-evaluate where I'm getting my bikes from. I restored a Honda CB500F under a salvage title from a wreck in which the bike tumbled several times. The forks were bowed in, the clutch mangled and half alive, plastics all shot to shit, etc. The frame sliders that the previous owner put on there saved that bike from the scrapyard. Now, fully restored, I drive it nearly every day with 0 issues; 13k miles and still going strong.

Takes a skilled pro to wheelie a 250 Ninja.
(I couldn't either ☹️)
The most important thing you need to know about " learning " how to do a wheelie is, expect a lot of mistakes. That's why you start practicing with your bicycle, when you're a little kid. And when and IF you master it, keep practicing until you think you're ready to try on you're street bike. That way, you know what to expect... lots of bumps and bruises broken bike etc.
Every wheelie show off is one blip of the throttle away from disaster, that's why the saying goes, " keep both feet on the pegs and both wheels on the ground. If you wanna feel real intensity, try out a WINGED SUIT and jump out of a plane. The " rush " lasts longer and you get to parachute after your adrenaline fix.
Wingsuits are fun for sure, but it's not like I can just walk out my front door and be flying one around in under five minutes. Also, I still can't wheelie a bicycle, but I can wheelie a motorcycle.

The third technique on my Honda Grom was life changing! Thank you! ❤
Buy an XR100 and find a park or a grass lot somewhere and practice slowly in first gear doing power up in first gear then doing clutch ups. Then practice in second gear doing clutch ups like he said covering the rear brake at all times. Once you get comfortable and master clutch ups in second, play with balance point, then try it on the street
What does covering your rear brakes mean?
@@snakeNP215 I think it means to rely on your brake in case you don't flip off your bike
@thegrimreaper6926 he means to hover your foot over the rear brake lever and lightly balance the brake vs throttle application to maintain a balance point which is roughly where the front forks become perpendicular to the road. I like to practice in 2nd gear as 1st gear is very snappy. Good luck 🤙
Thank you for teaching using the rear brake , it has saved my butt on many occasions ! It your best friend when you are lifting the front end too high and ready to loop out ! I haven't done a power wheelie before. Only clutch ups
I'm the opposite, power wheelie all the time but can't force myself to clutch up
Just take your time lads. I started off doing one inch wheelies and being terrified everytime. But after tons of practice and building a sense of the postion your body is at while at one wheel you get more and more comfy with how high up. Now im at the point I can basically wheelie any bike first try and am comfortable holding it at just below balance point depending on the bike. My mt09 I sit at about 11oclock now. Soon Ill be able to slow my wheelies but it all takes time.
Wow I've seen a lot of wheelie video and this one minute video is probably the most confidence inspiring. Which is so important
I learned through a lot of trial and error myself to wheelie my mountain bike. Im not afraid to fall or push boundaries to learn all I need is crash protectors and I'm set
Teach them how to not chase out wheelies like you did 😂
Exactly lol
What does chasing a wheelie mean?
@@magnumllama400 Chasing a wheelie means you're below balance point and if you're below balance point, your bike will go faster and will gain revs. Throwing the bike to 12 and beyond will slow your bike down. This is a real wheelie. Not chasing hahah. Real wheelies require proper rear brake skill and throttle control
@@1bigboi_629 then I do real wheelies on mountain bikes. But I think they're not designed for 12 o clock. Back brake hasn't power to hold me at that position

What does it mean to cover the rear brake?
Covering the rear brake implies that in an "oh shit" situation you will use it and it will bring your front tire down. But if you just cover it and never use it. You won't use it in said situation. Don't just cover the rear brake. Use it.
@@chill5949 spot on👌 everyone says cover, but nobody uses it lol. Too many people giving advice for bad wheelies

The only part about learning to wheelie that takes that much time, is finding that balance point right before it falls over backwards. Right before it falls over it will settle in. That's the part that's hard for new/beginner riders to master !!!
Also, learn on a dirtbike as a kid !!!
Going up, is easy. Coming down, now there lies the problem.
1st : learn to accept you will make mistake in the process on learning something that aren't used too.
2nd : you will bang up your bike.
3rd : willingness is the key.
4th : congrats! Avoid having a tickets and especially getting yourself into trouble. 😉

There’s more techniques and as someone who can wheelie for a while I sometimes will tap the front brake to bring it up but what really helped me learn was to practice poping it up and slamming on that rear break and after a little bit of doing that you’ll get comfortable with coming back more and then you’ll eventually find a balance point or get close and as an extra brap. And just add on I’ve gotten a couple friends wheeling that way and it’s the safest cause your reaction will be hit that brake and you won’t fall , have fun 🤙

Great vid 🦈
I used to be so good at wheeling my crf230 back in the day. I looped it one time and haven’t been able to wheelie since. Gotta get back into it tho.
This is how people get seriously hurt. The first wheelie you should learn is a clutch up with a 125cc or so dirt bike, going slow, on flat grass or a parking lot. If you can wheelie slowly, you can wheelie going fast.
I see a lot of people saying, just crash a few times and you will learn. Yeah, that does work but most people don’t want there bikes sliding on the ground 15 times a day and most people don’t have cash to get a smaller bike that they can use as a drop bike. If you can, yeah, there’s no better way to learn then to jump in head first and take a few falls at some what a slow speed to not get hurt. But I’m sure there’s a way to get it with a bike and not have to fall. Not that it still can’t happen cuz you risk that every time, even if you can do it like a pro, there’s still chance. I would get fully comfortable with your bike, master your back brake, master your throttle, know how much power is where. That way your not surprised by anything. Cuz that’s when you flip it. And once you have that, start giving it just a bit a fast power so the front goes up few inches. After you can do that no problem keep going higher and higher after perfecting each height. After you have it coming up like a foot or 2 start getting comfortable with using the back brake to bring bike back down. So when you do have it up in the air later on you will have that already down pact, back brake, bring it down when you start getting that feeling something ain’t right. You don’t want to have to get comfortable with using your back brake at that moment u need it. Better to get that while the wheel not so high and gonna come down anyway. Than bam, one day, you will have that wheel up, fully under control, using back brake when u need to, with out thing and same with the throttle. You will know just how much you need to give to put it where. Then practice practice practice, and you will go further and further. Never force anything. If it wants to come down, let it. If it wants to go to high that’s when being comfortable with using the back brake while the front is up will come in handy. Tap that thing and try and get it back where u want it, or let it fall back to the ground if that’s where it wants to go. You should get it up with time and practice. And could be done with having to fall. Again, it’s always a risk cuz your taking a wheel and putting it in the air. So be ready to deal with it cuz nothing is 100%. Then after you master the power wheelie, you can start messing with the clutch and all that. I’m no pro or anything, I was just sitting here thinking, how would I try to do this with taking out as much risk as possible. And this is how I would do it. I’m sure if I’m wrong I’ll be told so by all the pros out there. ( not saying that sarcastically, there are some people out there that know, I know nothing. I’m just seeing a problem and coming up with a solution with the bit of info I have.) I don’t have money to through away on a practice bike, so I would try it this way. All starting with getting to a point I know everything about my bike. Cuz trying on a bike u got last week sounds like a fail. Hit that throttle a bit to much thinking you’re getting a little power and you get a bunch cuz your not familiar with your bike yet, your gonna end up on your back. So learn your bike before you even think of trying to pop the wheel up.
Thank you for telling and showing me
Make sure to rev it up to the little red line before letting of the clutch
And then there's me in my neighbors yard on a coleman minibike
Yamaha 1974 DT125 did plenty of wheelies back in the day. Straight out of the hole clutch drop foot draggers were easy in circles and figure 8s. lol
