Thanks so much Janie☺️. The molds I used are 3.93 in diameter and 1.57 inches deep. The Crayola Crayons measure 3 5/8 inches long. If you can, use a larger mold. I had to cut off the crayons and cut the pencils very short so they would fit. Time consuming. I believe I saw a mold on Amazon that’s over 4 inches in diameter. The little round circles are push pins and I just cut off the ends. But of course there are so many cute things you can add to this instead. Have fun and thanks for watching❤️
Thank you Pink Ivy! I appreciate your comment and subscribing too!!❤. The little dots are actually colorful quilters strait pins. I cut the heads off and used those in the coaster.
Thanks for watching Stacey❤️! I thought about trying the alcohol but was afraid too…lol! They do make larger coaster molds that would accommodate the crayons!
@@HuckBuddies Hi there❤️! I got mine off of Amazon. Here’s the link.www.amazon.com/6-Cavity-Silicone-Coaster-Non-Stick-Dessert/dp/B07PLYTC38/ref=sr_1_4?crid=LTN8TY91LJSQ&keywords=round+silicone+molds+for+coasters&qid=1639954134&sprefix=round+silicone+molds+for+coas%2Caps%2C70&sr=8-4
Hi Kati! I used what I had at home. They are tacks and I cut the ends off with a wire cutter. But, for the sake of time I would order the beads without the holes. Amazon carries them. Also I would use a 4.5 in diameter coaster. The ones I had were smaller and I had to cut the crayons down. Pain…lol. Thanks for watching!
Those are push pins. In the stores, I couldn’t find the beads without holes so I cut off the metal pin. I got them from Walmart and the paper clips from the Dollar Tree. Hope this helps! If you have more questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Margarita, are you torching the resin or using the heat gun? If you do and get too close to the crayons they will melt. But if it’s just melting without torching, then it’s possible the heat caused by Curing can cause the the crayons to melt. Large amount of curing epoxy can even melt plastic from what I understand. I have never used Unicorn Resin. It’s curing time may be shorter than the StoneCoat or the KS Resin.
Hello Andie! These particular molds hold 4.5 ounces of resin each though I don’t think it will take quite that much because the objects take up space. But remember to save room for the name and top coat of resin. Also, to make things easier I would recommend you find a mold larger in than the ones I used -It was just under 4 inches in diameter and I had to cut down the crayons in such a way it wasn’t obvious. The Angel Wing Brand has a round 4.5 inch coaster mold on Amazon but you may be able to find one elsewhere. I did look for mini-crayons to fit my existing mold with no luck! Hopefully I’ve been able to help! 😊
Hello… I am having problems with my resin and crayon. I use resin art for my resin and when I make my coasters the crayon seems to get melted… what am I doing wrong? I warm my resin so take out the air bubbles. Any advice. Regarding melting crayons ??
Hi there. Yes I had the same issue. Unfortunately I was not in ideal working conditions for resin and it wanted to hold onto the bubbles. Before pouring in the mold I poured it in a disposable heat resistant container, hit it with the torch to remove some bubbles and poured it in the mold, letting it COOL enough so as not to melt the crayons. At that point I torched moving quickly. In the video I had the objects in a resin “bath” before placing in the coaster, the objects themselves can add air. That also helped eliminate bubbles. Also you can take a stick pin to pop bubbles around the objects. Some mist the resin with alcohol successfully as well but I have never tried that. Also, I’ve not used Resin Art so I don’t know how it reacts compared to Stone Coat, but it’s likely similar. I hope to do another set in the future and maybe I can come up with other solutions. Hopefully I’ve been able to help! Thank you for taking the time to watch AND for subscribing❤️. Good luck! 🍀 PS. The 4.5 inch Angel Wing Coasters on Amazon should allow the Crayons to fit easily without having to cut them off.
i know this is a 2 year old comment, but for the record, resin undergoes what's called an exothermic chemical reaction when it cures/hardens, basically meaning it gets hot even without a heat source warming it up. crayons melt very easily so it's likely the curing process of the resin is the culprit. though obviously in this video the crayons don't melt, so it's possible to find a resin or a curing method that doesn't result in overheating. it's also possible that using a heat gun to remove air bubbles may result in some melting
@dazeslays Thank you for your explanation and of course you are correct! 😀 I know resin can get hot enough to smoke and I’m sure melt the crayons. Perhaps that was the issue with Jamie, though I didn’t think of it at the time. I definitely over-torched my first set resulting in some melting of the crayons. The second time I did not have that issue. Stone Coat Art Coat is the resin I used to create these.
Perfect teacher gift. Can I ask, when you said you added a second layer of resin, was that after the first one cured, or you poured directly after inserting the objects?
Hi Cristina! After adding the objects I let them set-up for about 6 hours(minimum is 4 hours.) Be sure and check frequently during that time period to make sure the pencils and crayons have not raised to the top before adding the second coat. After allowing that to cure for about 12 hours, I added the name and then added the third and final layer of resin. Hope this helps. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have anymore questions. Thanks for watching❤️ PS: Try to find the 4.5 inch coaster molds-the one I had was smaller and I had to cut down the crayons. There’s one called Angel Wings on Amazon.
@@sworley1956 Hi Sharon! No…I was referring to the brand of silicone molds. The ones I used originally caused me to shorten the crayons in order to make it work. The molds I found on Amazon are 4.5 inches in diameter and super shiny. They hold a crayon with ease! Thanks for watching!
Hi Jenn! I didn't really leave them in the bath, I just filled the eraser heads with resin, coated the objects and added them to the coaster that had a small amount of resin in it. After adding the objects I let them set-up for about 6 hours(minimum is 4 hours.) Be sure and check frequently during that time period to make sure the pencils and crayons have not raised to the top before adding the second coat. When you add the second coat of resin it needs to be torched, so if you do that too soon you risk warming and softening the first coat of resin and the objects might move. Should they raise up, push back down with a stick pin. Hi Monica. They measure 8.66 x 3.93 x 1.57. Starbury is the brand off of Amazon. If you are going to try and recreate these then I would recommend a larger diameter than the 3.93. A 4.5 to 5 inch if you can find them. I had to cut off the crayons and cut the pencils very short so they would fit. Time consuming. And Thanks for subscribing ❤️
Hello! Actually the balls were small stick pins and I removed the “pins” with wire cutters. At the time I didn’t realize I could get the beads without the holes on Amazon. I couldn’t find them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. And thanks for watching❤️

Those are way to cute. Wish you showed finished coasters just a tad longer. Bless your heart for all that patience.
Thank you Susan. It was tedious and I had to work fast…lol.
I can't wait to make these. And next time you have air bubbles use 91% alcohol and just spritz on them. Works like a charm!

Love them!! ❤ I have to share this idea with my granddaughter, see if grandma here can make something like this for her teachers.
Thanks Doris….If I can do it YOU can do it!
Fabulous Shelli! She is going to be so proud to gift those❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Mona! ❤️ Still struggling with the resin/bubbles but I’ll get it!! The balls were stick pins.
