Final video about my trip to beautiful northern Norway. In this video, Alexandra and I explored the historical sights of Trondheim.
Our excursion begins from the Christiansten fortress, a stronghold of Norwegian troops in the fight against Swedish invasions during the Northern War. I will tell you about the siege of the fortress by the Swedes, and why the retreat of the Swedish army is compared to Napoleon’s retreat from Moscow.
We will continue our walk through the streets of ancient Trondheim, which literally breathe history. Let's look at the houses in the center, I'll show you the view from the Old Town Bridge, the most "postcard" place in the city.
Next we will find a folk museum, or as it is also called an open-air folk museum. We will see the entire history of Norway in architecture, household items, residential buildings and domestic buildings. We will visit the post office, the telephone exchange, and the store. Even in the barn we will jump into the Norwegian hayloft.
During the break we will eat at a street cafe. As is tradition, I'll take the filet mignon.
As we approach the northernmost Gothic cathedral in the world, the national shrine of Norway, the place of coronation of kings - Nidaros Cathedral, I will tell you the story of King Olaf, on whose burial site this cathedral grew. Olaf baptized Norway, and after his death he was canonized. And you will also learn the secret of the remains of St. Olaf.
And we will finish our walk in the central square of Trondheim. I will also show you a modest royal residence.
