Gm Brad! Thanks for being consistent and sharing new content every week. I love how you breakdown how the equipment works and how it will impact your strategy and property. You are one of the best on RUclips that I follow and look forward to your content.
O man, my wife and I watched this and loved the commentary! Great stuff, currently loookin at this piece of equipment to run behind my L4060, thinkin about starting a business so i can write it off on taxes bc it is not cheap!
Deb your commentary makes this video...like watching a sports event....look at him go Jim...he is really pushing that unit to its limits. Intimidatator.
Someone else mentioned it already, but part of prepping a brand new machine to go to work is loosening the slip clutch and making it slip, then tightening it back down. This procedure should be done a couple of times a summer. Since it is belt drive though, that belt will slip some also. Agree, Baumalight makes some great stuff; I sold some in the past and now I’ve been using their articulating stump grinder all spring and summer, grinding down hardwood stumps up to 5 feet in diameter at 3-4 inches out of the ground. Much quicker and less expensive than digging them out. Great video; I like seeing what other folks in a different part of the country are experiencing with their tractors.
@@PineyGroveHomesteadYes sir, I always try to keep in mind that a lot of eyeballs are watching and some of them probably are nu-bees. RUclips videos are how they learn over talking to someone at a dealership.
I know it's a nice tool, however there are other mulcher brush hog attachments. What about the LandShark attachment, out of Tallahassee I think. It will chop down smaller trees, and grind up that undergrowth. The LandShark attaches to the front where the bucket would be. If you have a mini skidsteer or skidsteer there are more attachments working with wood, logs, brush etc.
Lane Shark is a brush hog run by the hydraulic flow of your tractor. It can't do what this can do at basically the same price point. A high flow skid steer with a forestry mulcher on the front is about a $150K machine!
That’s very impressive. I recommend getting a good supply of those cutters on hand. Maybe a few more belts. As everything goes up in price so it’s money well spent
Brad, I am thinking if you had a few feet of metal extension on the top back of the implement you could push over the brush before the tractor got to the trees.
Unfortunately a three-point mount is the worst possible application for a mulcher. One thing that helps tremendously is a hydraulic top link. It allows you to tilt the unit out and actually use the upper push bar to push material away from the tractor and the operator. Then you can tilt the unit back towards the tractor to get the push bar out of the way when you need to get up close to something.
Looks like you may need to add a push bar and possibly adjust the slip clutch. Does your 3901 have stall guard? May help with the stalling issues. What an awesome machine one of these would be great on my property but doubt the wife would let me get that to play with haha. I have even seen guys use these as a mower and would be curious how it does for you. Thanks again for the fun video!
Instead of pushing deep into the brush in a long column, I would go back 5 feet then forward and shift to the side a little then go back again, etc. Makes it easier to see what you are doing.
It looks like this mulcher is specifically designed to cut up with the mulcher moving up to the flail from the back. Is this correct? If so it is designed only to clear vegetation as it’s demonstrated, reversing into it. It would be a very cost effective forestry mulcher. Usually they are mounted to expensive skid steers or really big tractors.
That's what I'm seeing....same as on a stump grinder. I've got a few hours on the machine now and need to rotate them due to hitting so much dirt, but it's worth it!
That looks like Chinese Privet if it is, it will come back from the roots you will need to spray it with a high quality herbicide like Garlon to get ride of it. It most likely will take 2 or 3 sprayings.
I'm not sure what it's called but we are ate up with it here in Florida. And yes, it comes back unless you pluck it by the roots. It will be easier now to do that with all the trunks and leafy material out of the way!
Spraying is the only thing that works for me here near Savannah. Contact your NRCS office they will pay for the chemical since it is considered to be an invasive species like kudzu
I`d rather try some other implement. Way to much work looking over your back. I don`t like scratching my Kubota L3901 at all. A skid steer with a similar implement would be my choice.

You now have a Nice breaker bar from that PTO shaft!! Baumalight is the gift that keeps on giving!!
I need a bigger tractor!
Good point. I did not get this till I read it the second time. That PTO shaft will give better leverage.
That was great seeing you guys joint venture
Another great attachment too!

Brad, I am thinking if you had a few feet of metal extension on the top back of the implement you could push over the brush before the tractor got to the trees.
The bigger ones have that but that prevents you from getting close to a tree you want to keep and clearing around it. This thing is nasty!!

True but there there is little space to work between the pine trees we are trying not to skin the bark on.

It is designed to be used in reverse. There is no way for material to feed in from the front of the mulcher. Thanks for watching.

It's a pretty cool attachment for sure - but costing in the neighborhood of $11,000
Having someone come forestry mulch your property is $250 per hour or more.
Nice piece of equipment, wish you had waited until after the bird's nesting season.
There's no birds nesting in that brush.....they learned to fly about 2 months ago. We watched them!

$10K doesn't buy much custom land clearing! This will last forever!
