This is the quintessential eldest child experience when you’re away from home. NO ONE let’s you know about any family news until it’s too late for you to do anything about it
I had my GF bitch that I wasn't keeping her up to date with my family events, saying "you didn't even tell me your grandad was in hospital". I hung up on her and phones my mum asking "my grandad is in hospital?!"
That was an interesting series of conversations
And them blame you for not being there
I think they don’t want to worry you while you’re trying to get your life together in college or whatever.
My dad and stepmom got a divorce and my dad ended up in jail (long story). Didn't find out until 4 months later when I was trying to make travel plans to come home from college.
To be fair, it's whoever moves out first, im one of the middle child's, and I had to find out about my great grandma passing from Facebook =/ same for most news
"We didn't want to bother you with it. We'd rather let all of the deaths pile up into one big traumatic message for when you got back."
I'm the oldest child and my parents were the same way. I didn't know that my great grandpa died until they brought it up in a random convo in the car
Like Robinhood Men IN Tights
I knew someone who used to take care of his grandma every single week, very very close, but he had to move overseas. They waited to tell him a few months 🙃
I got ripped by my aunt for not visiting my grandma in hospital.
My response? "Granny was in hospital?"
Sounds about right
“Cats ate her face” has been an intrusive thought of mine for the twenty years since I first saw this. Not in a traumatic way, it just comes to mind fairly often
There’s a book by Caitlin Doughty (aka Ask A Mortician here on RUclips) called “Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? Big Questions from Tiny Mortals about Death” that catalogues some of the questions kids have asked her after learning about her profession, and it’s fascinating. On the off chance that you’re looking to scratch that particularly fascinating itch, I’d recommend it tbh.
@@julesking1303I LOVE her content! I'll definitely be buying that book as I've never heard of that one, I appreciate that people are a little more open about death now, and sometimes it can be hard explaining it to a child so young
And why wouldn't it!?
then it’s just random, right? not intrusive.
@@tonoornottonoa thought for 20 years isn't "just random" its an intrusive thought 😅
Dewey knows more about it than I do is the best line.
Love how this went from Francis trying to get out of trouble to fully blown existential crisis in about 30 seconds.
I feel this so much. I was deployed with the US military/Canadian Military. None. Of my family... told me my niece died. Or that my dog died.. i was close to both of them i was so devastated when i got back
thats fucked up bro
Thats fucked! i feel you though homie
hard to grieve when you havent even had the chance to process the information!
My family didn’t let me know that my dog died when I was at college.
How and why did they never you??
My parents straight up didn’t tell me that my dog died for three weeks and fully admitted they were considering not telling me until I came home for break and then a year later my mom TEXTS me in the MIDDLE OF CLASS that my uncle died. My roommate was very concerned when I was ugly laughing about it when he got home.
Ugly laughing?
I’m also a laugher when im extremely frustrated or angry💀 I know exactly what you’re saying abt the family poor communication
@@ccsx222 I was either gonna self destruct or laugh and my body chose laugh that night lmao
Elder child experience, my parents didn’t tell me my childhood dog died for almost 2 weeks until I came home to visit and noticed she didn’t run to see me like she always did
I always loved the bit about dewey knowing more
Reminds me of the time I went to my cousin's house when I was 18 and otw back in the McDonald's drive thru, My mother told me she put down my dog without even saying anything about it previously.. He was my first dog and I didn't get to say goodbye.. That's the day I stopped fully respecting my mother.
Same story just my mom sold my first cat or she took it very far away.
My dad took my cat to a shelter while I was at work one day. Asked where my boy was and he just replied with a shit eating grin that he was at a shelter. Asked him which one and he wouldn’t say. I called every shelter and none somehow had a back and white tuxedo looking cat dropped off in the last week. I miss you Oscar Myers, I hope you are doing well
oh my god what the hell is wrong with the parents of everyone in this thread?
That’s absolutely cruel
@@Liamj774 Tell me about it. After I posted this, I brought it up with my mom and she didn't apologize or seem like it should've bothered me at all.. 🙃
Everyone always assumes were gonna be there but since everyone is assuming it, nobodies telling us about it and therefore we never find out and dont go 😭
My dad got back surgery and an appendix out in the span of a month. Not even a phone call. He just didn’t think it was noteworthy enough to call!😂
A list of things I found out happened during my first year I was at college in one night during my first week off:
My dad totaled his truck and nearly died, my cousins had to put down their dog that I adored bc it took me seven years for him to come around to me and I never got to say goodbye, my grandfather was ill and needed surgery, my grandmother has dementia, and good news my dad finally got a job after being laid off
My mom did this to my brother when my grandmother passed her reasoning for it was she didn’t want to knock him off track cause he was doing something positive with his life it lead to a whole argument all night because she wasn’t understanding that she still took his ability to grieve properly he didn’t know for almost 3 months 😔😔
I used to
Think that was Neil Patrick Harris
SAME !
The het and less creepy version.
Oh, he does.
frfr same voice cadence
I accidentally told my brother that our grandma(i didn't really know her like he did) died while he was at bootcamp. I had no idea he didnt know, he broke down crying and i felt so bad.
I remember coming home from school and wondering why my aquarium was missing a turtle.
I did nothing but lay in bed for numerous days.
Literally happened to me and my grandma.
"oh btw your grandma is out of the hospital"
"she was in the hospital? Why didn't you tell me?
"didn't want to bother you"
My mom had gotten Brest cancer. Don’t worry she’s been in remission for several years now. But she did have 2 options: doing chemo the hard and short version or the longer version. She chose the second one as it was chemo in pill form so it was lower doses but longer. She also needed to get some x-rays twice a year. Ok fair enough. First few years after clearing it outta be the more intense ones. Well, one of these scans showed something concerning and more tests were being ordered/done. Parents told 2 out of 3 when we both popped our heads in for something unrelated. We were told we’d get updates as we see our parents as there was 3 different schedules for us. Long story short, mom gotten Valley Fever not cancer coming back results. She is clear of both today. There’s some strokes of pure luck here but we ain’t arguing about it
Honestly at this point I'm surprised if my extended family DOES tell me/my immediate family anything. I can't even begin to tell you how many bbqs, funerals, birthdays, and other big events we've missed simply because nobody bothered to tell us they were happening.
Am I the only one who thinks Chris Masterson doesn't really look like Neil Patrick Harris? Lol
I grew up watching this and this is one of the best scenes.
He'd be an excellent stunt double though, no?
My mom going down the list of everyone who's suddenly sick, has or might have cancer, and it's just like being hit by a train from every angle
THIS IS SO ACCURATE
I was away from home for school and missed 2 funerals and a big family drama because no one told me anything 💀
Oh. My aunt Helen died this year. She was a good woman.
Did cats eat her face as well?
Its Ranger Captain Ericcson! 😂
This happened too me. When I was at BMT my an aunt died and my grandma fell and was very serious recovery. I had a few phone calls and nobody told me anything. I found out months later.
Dewey trying not to laugh when he says it is amazing
😹😹😹😹😹
Roadhouse
Dude Dewey is my favorite character
This is my mom's family to my mom EVERY TIME she's on the phone with someone.
Mom: you know i was thinking about (blank) the other day.
Aunt: Oh they died.
Mom: What?! When?
Aunt: Couple months ago.
Mom: why didn't anyone tell me?
Aunt: We thought you knew / I'm telling you now.
Cue Mom crying for the next few hours. Complaining that no one tells her anything/ she's always the last to know.
I feel like this is every conversation I had with my family when I was active duty
i had too many calls like this while in korea 😂😂😂
HOURS OF DOOM SCROLLING, AND I LAND ON A MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE REEL???? My childhood 🥹
I've seen this show in it's entirety at least 4 times it always slaps
Y'all know what also sucks balls? Getting back home from a trip the first thing you do when back in town is go for diner at your favorite restaurant and as you're waiting for food get told someone died. I know that its important to know but pizza is going to be put on our table in less than five minutes and now it'll taste like salty cardboard.
Malcolm in the middle is a crazy show from channel cloud extra.
Our manager did the same thing, we worked thru the drill fire Marshall showed up for a muster point inspection found out we were instructed to keep working and gave the manager a $50,000 fine and the company a $250,000 fine.
Malcom in the Middle is classic that will forever hold up😂
This was the best episode of MitM
Lol how i found out about anything in my family
love this goddamn show
This show was THE BEST.
Cats will only atar eating your face if you've been deas dor a while and noone fed them. Its a soft tissue and the cats dont want to die of starvation. A guy in our village died, peoppe found out a few days later, cats managed to eat his nose.
The way I was CRUSHING on Francis as a teen Oh dear lord
Best show
This level of no communication happens so often in my family
Literally my dad. He got home from his first year of college to find out his dad had gotten a terminal cancer diagnosis and only had a few months to live.
The non-imprisoned Masterson brother.
When I was in the Navy this exact situation happened to me.
Me when I came back home from college
"Nothing‽ She's dead!" I mean, yeah, she can't get any worse, so no use worrying
Happened to me when my grandma died. My grandfather didn’t let me say goodbye because he didn’t want me to worry
Crazy I used to hate this show cause it wasn't a cartoon. This is hilarious
It doesn't matter if you haven't seen them in years, you still love them and want to know if they aren't okay. Keep family informed.
My first crush 😂
I would be pissed if anyone close to me did anything like this to me! It is like the ultimate disrespect.
*My mom thinking i don't need to know about my family members having illnesses*
Wait till he gets the call that his brother got sent to jail for rape
What the fuck is wrong with you
Huh?
@@atticusbiggayDanny Masterson is the brother of the Christopher Masterson, the guy on the phone in this clip. It’s was kinda weird to joke about it in this context though, in my opinion.
@@julesking1303o
@@julesking1303the joke is that nobody is going to tell him until months after the fact
One day when my mom was picking us up from school she told us our cat had died, then when we got home our dad said be gave away our ferret, and a few hours later my mom thought it would be a good time to tell us that our grandma passed away a few weeks prior when we were at camp. Got hit with a whole lot of trauma all at once.
That's what my parents and family done to me when I was in the Army. And this was about 20 years ago, so technology existed. Emails too.
I want to stay on Malcolm in the middle shorts
It's likely she died naturally and because nobody fed her cats, the cats had to eat her.
🤣
I could probably take 15 waves
I came to the UK in October last year and my aunt was pregnant back then. I got to know that she's pregnant and is expecting twins in may💀
That's funny
Waltuh
Walta
I once was asked to bring dinner for a family friend. Didn't ask why cuz I knew she was going through a lot right now. So I get this big meal prepared and just about ready to bring it to her house. Then I got a call that she was home from the hospital and didn't need a meal. She was at the hospital? Apparently her kids were at another friend's house and she had just barely picked up her kids. I asked if the kids ate dinner and said, I'll drop off the meal anyways cuz she doesn't feel like cooking and I can't eat all this food.
Which show is this
Malcolm in the middle
Heisenberg?
💀💀
Lois is truly one of the worst TV moms in human history
Thats me. Im the youngest tho.
The worst mother ever
I’m so glad he was sent off to military school or whatever so he was far far away from the kids on the show while they hung out with Cranston instead of some creepy psychotic cultist
What happened to this actor, can anyone answer this please?
Yep your kids. Never care about familly
the kid is literally the only one who cares in this clip whatre you on about lol
You have to be trolling there is no way u are this stupid
Niel patrick harris?
No
@@chrissyhill7890 I know it's not him lmao
Glad Brian kept all the kids safe from that nutbag on set
What nutbag
What the fuck was this show
