Another fact, Bobby Hatfield was sick at the time of this live performance. He had a cold and didn’t feel good. So just imagine how nervous he must have been to do a good job. This song belongs to Bobby Hatfield no matter who else attempts to sing it.

100% pure talent. Their music is known as blue eyed soul, they were such a popular duo. This live performance of Unchained Melody is the definitive version.
The Everly Brothers are actual brothers who had fabulous harmonies and I recommend listening to their music that was popular in the 50's & 60's.

Elvis and Sam Cooke sang this song and masterfully but Bobby Hatfield has been the champion of this song over the past 59 years. This song is timeless and will forever be so. Bobby Hatfield is a counter tenor and his partner Bill Medley is a baritone. Bobby has passed away and Bill, in his eighties still performs. He knew Elvis personally and he tells stories about Elvis on RUclips. ❤

Written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained" - music by Alex North, lyrics by Hy Zaret. The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. The film’s producer wanted to include the word 'unchained' in his lyrics but Zaret refused to include "unchained" and it became known as 'Unchained Melody' even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained." Instead, Zaret focused on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time." There are approx. 670 artists who have done this song, in multiple languages. The Righteous Bros. always have been amazing -- unusual voices that work very well -- always loved them.

@@BimuReacts Thanks so much. I always enjoy delving into background info - spend lots of time researching -- what makes it challenging is discerning what's true & what isn't. The most difficult is anything concerning Elvis -- there is a lot of misinformation out there -- people who make comments on reactors' sites w-wrong information, articles w-wrong information, & some books written that aren't always correct; & believe it or not, even some information/stories from "his people" -- those who who were around him most of his life) that isn't always correct.

Hy Zaret refused to put anything about prison into the lyrics. By doing that, he made the song applicable to anyone separated from a loved one.
Bobby's rendition is outstanding. Regarding the changes Bobby made to the melody, Alex North loved them. They actually met some years later. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in order to hear their conversation.

The Righteous Brothers are amazing together or doing their solos. This version by Bobby Hatfield is live and the gold standard. They rerecorded it 25 yrs later after the movie Ghost featured the song & it was a hit all over again. Hear both of them on the Ed Sullivan Variety Hour live singing "You'll Never Walk Alone". Sooo many songs in their music library. They were regulars on a TV show called Shindig from 1964-1966 so you can find videos from that show where they sang together or did solos. Hey Bimu, since you are delving into the past a bit here is a suggestion of another singer, Jim Croce. He is an American singer from the late sixties to the early seventies. He represents a different genre that was popular at that time sort of Folk Rock. His music was finally making it to the charts in 1973 when we lost him in a plane crash. I think you would really like his song, "Photographs and Memories" and then " I've Got a Song". He wrote about life around him and has both a serious side and a humorous side. There are many songs of his to explore after those two. Keep up the fun!!!!

This was a song written for the 1955 movie Unchained. It's about a man in prison who's about to get out and he's wondering if his wife will still be there for him.
Interestingly enough, the Righteous Brothers version came out in 1965 during the middle of the Vietnam War. It then became a very personal song to the guys in the military because they then wondered if their wives or girlfriends would be there for them when they came back. It's a beautiful song and Bobby Hatfield's version is the GOAT.

    Unchained Melody:
    Bobby Hatfield live performance.
    The Andy Williams Show-
    Episode #4.5
Episode aired: Monday, Oct 25, 1965:
Robert Lee Hatfield (August 10, 1940 - November 5, 2003) Bobby Hatfield, who had a higher countertenor voice to Bill Medley’s, William Thomas Medley (born September 19, 1940) baritone, sang lead on this track. It was his idea to record it, since Medley and Hatfield were each allowed to choose a song to sing as a solo vocalist on their albums. As Medley tells it, Hatfield knew the song well, and was a big fan of the Roy Hamilton and Al Hibbler versions of the song.
*In Nov. 2003 Hatfield died of a heart attack at age 63.
The Righteous Brothers version was a huge hit, but it was recorded with far more modest expectations. Phil Spector considered it album filler and released it as a B-side. The single had "Unchained Melody," with no producer credit on the label, as the flip to Gerry Goffin and Carole King's "Hung on You," but many DJs preferred "Unchained Melody" and played that one instead. This infuriated Spector, who subsequently left no doubt (actually calling DJs telling them to play “Hung On You” not “Unchained Melody “)as to which side of a Philles single was the A-side.
    * The famous climax of this song where Bobby Hatfield sings the high "I need your love" line wasn't how the song was written. In an interview with Bill Medley, he explained that Hatfield did two takes of the song, then left. He would often reconsider his performance and come back later to change it, and that's what he did on this track, returning to ask Medley if he could make an edit. This was no easy task, since with a maximum of four tracks to work with, you had to record over part of the original take, but Medley accommodated and Hatfield delivered that soaring vocal line. Said Medley: "I punched that in and before he left he said, 'No, I can do it better. ’And I said, 'No, you can't.' [Laughs] And I think it's a big part of that song."
    * This was released on Philles Records, Phil Spector's label. Spector, known for his "Wall Of Sound" technique, did not produce this - Bill Medley did. In a 2007 statement to the Forgotten Hits newsletter, Medley said: "You have to remember that I was producing our stuff before Phil Spector... I mean I produced 'Little Latin Lupe Lu,' 'My Babe' and all that stuff. Then when we went with Phil, Phil asked me if I would produce the albums because it was too time consuming for him to produce the entire albums. So he was going to do the singles and I would do the album. And so that's how that happened and that's how I produced 'Unchained Melody,' which Phil Spector apparently now takes credit for. He can have the credit. And I'm not a producer. I know how to produce. But it's obviously not a Spector production. 'Unchained Melody' was never intended to be the single... it was produced to be on the album. It was put on the B side of a Phil Spector single 'Hung On You' and the minute it was released 'Unchained Melody' just went through the roof."
Hatfield’s rendition of “Unchained Melody” although not the original, is the ‘gold standard’.

Este melodia cu cele mai multe cover'uri / cam 1000/ însă a rămas in memoria publicului in interpretarea lui Bobby Hatfield,de asemenea iti recomand filmul in care a fost soundtrack : "The Ghost"

This song was written for a prison movie Unchained in 1955. Bobby covered it in 1965. This song has been covered over 1500 times by multiple people and in multiple languages. WAS NOT AN ELVIS ORIGINAL. According to his singing partner Bill Medley, they had agreed to do one solo piece each per album. Both wanted to sing "Unchained Melody" for their fourth album, but Hatfield won the coin toss.

A little advice for you, bro: I've watched a few of your videos now and on every single one of them, the video and the sound on the music videos you show drift out of sync from the jump. As someone who does video production for a living, I recommend you consider changing the frame rate with which you record yourself (since you can't change the frame rate at which the music videos were encoded). Most of the videos on RUclips (and certainly all of them that were broadcast on American television like this one) were recorded at 29.97 frames per second (FPS), or 30 FPS. If I had to guess, I'd guess you're shooting yourself at 24 FPS (23.976 FPS). So while YOU are staying in sync with YOUR video, since the music video is being added as a picture-in-icture to the video shot of YOU, the frame rates of these two sources are simply not matching up, so of course they drift out of sync. It makes your videos very hard to watch. Now you know why. Good luck fixing it. At least now you know how.

Hey thank you for the advice ! That’s so true ! I used my screen record in iPad and I notice that. I will try to adjust that and hopefully it will work ! ❤️

@@BimuReacts I believe all the screen record option on iOS devices records at 30 fps. The music videos on You tube are probably encoded at 29.97 fps. So that could be the discrepancy. Check your camera to find out what frame rate it records at. Then you’ll need to convert the screen recording to whatever frame rate your camera is recording you at convert the video to the matching frame rate and then play that video when you’re recording your reaction. Good luck.

    They are not really brothers.
Bobby Hatfield is the one with the beautiful counter tenor voice singing this song.
They both wanted to sing this first solo on one of their albums so they flipped a coin. Fortunately, Bobby won. His beautiful tenor voice is perfectly suited to this song.

I love the Righteous Brothers.Bill Medley was a good friend of Elvis. This song was originnally recorded in the 1950 s.The Righteous Brothers are great but I much prefer Elvis' more heart rendering version.Elvis sings it so differently from anyone else.Elvis is king.

I'm glad you heard Bobby Hatfield sing this. Elvis Presley's version was just plain awful. Painful to listen to.
