• grab bars
• a lift bed for space and accessibility
• full platform deck, with a slide out wheelchair ramp
Visit tinyidahomes.com for more information on Marc's build.
It's about time they showed tiny houses geared for people with disabilities. Not everybody can climb up steep stairs and ladders. Show more of these.
Agreed. My mobility is swiftly declining and while I’m having fun designing tiny houses with my iPad (on drop axel goosenecks), I’m mindful to include a min 36” hallway, accessible bathroom, and an elevator to my personal loft (on the gooseneck). For safety reasons, I’ve also been including tiny stairs to my loft, and the second loft space (for my 19yo daughter) is stair access only.
GOD I wish I could afford something like this! Been in a wheelchair for 22 years and never had my own place. Maybe 1 day. I love this wheelchair friendly tiny home!! Great job!!!
Thank you! I believe that this tiny house is now for sale.
@@ruggedmountainrv1631 how much is something like that?
@@christurney4333 I believe he has it listed for $65K - $70K
I'm so glad to know a company will customize a home for the disabled because this is more common than people realize and I love this home. So much detail
Blessings to you. Your inner shine and energy is contagious
As disabled person ,this is the best tiny house i have ever seen. I love this, and thank you
Honestly my first thought was ... Marc is hot. Nice space too.
Same
Same here 💗
This home is amazing. As a disabled person who has a electric wheelchair it is wonderful to actually see a tiny house that could actually accommodate my needs. The fact that there are decks and ramps outside are key to anyone who has a wheelchair. I currently live in an older house that isn’t handicap friendly. The doors are only 32 inches wide compared to the 36 standard requirement now. Haven’t been able to find anyone who can do a ramp without destroying the house and costing an arm and a leg that I don’t have.
Really good to see a tiny house I could actually live in as I’m disabled.
I love this. It’s so important to consider younger people with disabilities too. We cant all have lofts. Even people who don’t use wheelchairs can still have mobility issues that builders just don’t consider.
This is awesome! I’m a 48 year old single, soon-to-be empty nester with MS. I’ve been wanting to get into a tiny house due to affordability and ease in care, but absolutely cannot climb ladders. I’ve been concerned about this issue as I’m sure as my condition progresses I’ll need to implement some of these ideas. Thank you so much for sharing this!
I know this is from two years ago, but you should think about looking into shed to house conversions! They are way cheaper than a regular house, and a lot of times cheaper than a typical tiny house as well. They can do some really cool stuff with shed to house conversions. 😊
Same issues here
Wow! This may have convinced me to go from converting a schoolie back to a trailer! I think I would put in big sliding doors to go with that amazing "porch". I have a 14 year old son that is medically fragile and in a wheelchair. My goal is to create some type of RV that we can travel in with him full time. It's encouraging to see companies designing products like this. Since I am a single mom, I will be customizing one myself, but I love the ideas. Thank your for sharing!!
Thank you for your comment. We love what we do and we love to be able to incorporate in our tiny houses all sorts of things and ideas to help people with disabilities. Let us know if you have any questions. We would love to work with you in the future if you will ever decide to go tiny
Tiny Idahomes, I’m starting a blog to discuss traveling with disabilities, most specifically RVing. I will be reaching out soon for content information!
The house is nice but I prefer Marc! Wowzer
We agree Marc is a great guy!
Was curious to see what designers would do for a wheelchair accessible tiny house. Impressive. Really like the ceiling storage hatch. Looks cozy. Enjoy!
The best is the ramp stow. Very clever. This a good example of things you figure out as you live. You make improvements based on what you need.
My first thought after the deck was fully up was "That is the most epic zombie Apocalypse Bug out rig! You could just close up the side to keep the hoards out!" Truly a fantastic build, and that accessbility is far too underrepresented in this community! Plus the zombie hoard features to boot.
I just saw this. I am amazed! I never knew! I am a sci patient too. Never thought i could have a tiny house! I am definitely going to do this!
Great layout, great functionality..I Love it!
Thank you!
Love the idea of tiny homes or houseboats, but as someone with a degenerative muscle disease I've been worried about whether or not they could be made to suit my needs, looks like it might be possible. Good video
How can I look at the home when I can't take my eyes off of Marc?! 🤗 So handsome... his smile is just beautiful. What a hottie... w/a personality to match! I'd love to go out w/him or at least on a date lol... seems like he'd be so much fun. Anyways, about the house lol, what a really cool one. I've never seen a tiny home where the bed is on hydraulics.. how genius! Even for someone who isn't in a wheelchair.. wow, such a space saver! I also love his "garage". It seems like a nice size so you could definitely put a good amount of storage in there. I didn't quite understand the emergency steps in the garage though. I thought Marc said it was an emergency stairwell down from the loft? But the "loft" is just his bed & seems too far away from those steps. Idk... maybe I missed something. Anyhow, what a really cool home! ❤
Love this my dream is a tiny home but my parents won’t help me build one cause they worry someday I may need my wheelchair all the time instead of just sometimes so to send them this is awesome 👏🏼
One of the smartest designs I've seen make tiny home more accessible! Great job!
I love this. I have lived in small spaces most of my life, and even created a tiny home from a corrugated metal work shop on a piece of property I bought. It was ugly on the outside so not to attract a lot of people when I was not home since I lived in country. It just looked like an old metal storage building. Inside it was beautiful with a small kitchen area, full size appliances, built in lower shelving with counter top on top of them. a full sink, hot water, etc. wonderful drainage from the sink so good I lost my wedding rings forever down the drain never to be found. Had a living room/ bedroom with hideabed. Shelving, Hot water closet, dry walled and wallpaper on a wall for accent. It was a 20 by 17 building on a slab. Loved it. Used a small camper we had for use as a bathroom and had tub and shower plus space for more people. But, now, many years later, I have sold that property and am disabled in wheelchair on fixed income. I would love to make a tiny home to live in I could use my wheelchair, and there are so many ideas here. I am afraid to ask the cost of a place like yours and would need to add a hospital type bed by adapting the hospital bed I have. That I can't figure out so far. I loved your video and think you are amazing!
that chair/ramp fast-contraption was pretty good thinking... looks nice - hope it's served you well.
Marc Man...that is so cool!
Best handicap accessible tiny yet. Great bed idea.
I think that is awesome, that you can have a tiny house and also be self sufficient! I really would have liked to have seen the operation of how your bed goes up and down; you know, the mechanical aspect of it!
Hi Dana, the bed is an electric bed, there is a switch on the wall and all you have to do is push the button and it goes up or down.
Gotcha! I love that concept! I would like to get a tiny house but I don't want to have to go up stairs or a ladder! I also want to keep it on the smaller side of a tiny house! Do you know how much weight the bed mechanics added to the house?
Absolutely beautiful & brilliant build.
Great ideas throughout. May be in a wheelchair one day myself. Love the drop down bed, more THs should use that idea instead of lofts with climbing ladders all the time. It certainly doesn't take away from the beauty of the home, plus it's more efficient!!! Wishing this handsome young man all the best and many happy years in his TH. Good luck and God bless!!
We will pass along your best wishes to Marc. He is a great example of seeing solutions and not limitations.
Im still planning to steal a few ideas for my own place since i to have to be in wheelchair some days.
This is “Awesome” easy access to everything . Fantastic build and one very happy homeowner❤️💚🙋🏼♀️ Marc is very productive in setting up for his move to his next adventure ✅ Safe Travels 💕
Dude, that safe is awesome 👍 👍 love it!! Great tiny house too!!
Fantastic video friend
Very well designed. Enjoy!!!
I absolutely love this! I am adding some of these things to my home 😁
Second viewing, great design; enjoyed the tour the deck is awesome!
Wow, this is amazing. The ramp scares me a little as it's very steep and there are no railings or anything to keep from slipping off the edge. I will definitely have to show this to my other OT friends this video. Thank you for sharing, and thank you to those who engineered and designed this space.
Looks great! The house too.
😂🤣😂
They did an awesome job, my only concern is during the winter with snow and ice will he have difficulty getting up that ramp. Other than that they did a fantastic job.
That is beautiful! Just amazing and very efficient. Good for you!!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!!!
Wish I could have seen more of the kitchen but, like the open space.
Wonderful
Enjoy your home
Really nice tiny home & really nice looking man!😉
Must admit my first thoughts are that there's an awful lot of things reliant on hydraulics, etc. That concerns me because of how much can go wrong or stop working altogether. You just know that will happen when you are nowhere near someone who can fix the problem. I know this is a custom build, but I would like to see simpler designs suitable for people with mobility issues.
I thought the same thing...as you say hydraulics can fail, ha did mention it was all running off 12 volt batteries, if they run flat, you're stuck. Maybe a back-up could be something like the hand winches for sails used on boats...just an idea...
ya but if u worry about stuff like that all the time , u wont have nothing, their is always someone around that can fix it, and they make new parts everyday, so get living and don't sweat the small stuff, just say'en !!!!!!!!!
Yeah, this guy is gonna hate this house the first time he gets the flu. Its made for him to be at his best. Whats he gonna do when he can't jump 2-3 feet up in that shower and theres 5 feet of snow on the ground? He lives in idaho, not Arizona. I'm glad hes happy, but this is a horrible build.
Anyone worried about power outages could use a back-up battery or generator, but there are also plenty of manual options:
- A permanent bed that could be used as a reading nook or guest seating during the day
- Murphy bed that pulls down with a telescoping pole with hook on the end
- The Camper tiny house by Build Tiny in New Zealand showing counterweight bed fully descended over couch and also in bunk bed mode with couch unfolded to accommodate up to two additional adults. (pull down with pole)
- Tons of counterweight ceiling beds in Kirsten Dirksen's video "Adaptive space-saving bed snaps into ceiling when not needed"
- Beautiful San Juan tiny house tour on Tiny House Expedition channel.
Elevator bed at 5:56 supported with fold-out blocks and garage opener parts but with manual (non-electric) winch.
- Tiny Home Tours: 5 Innovative Tiny Home Bedroom Layouts - Elevator Beds & Murphy Beds.
Includes a horizontal (vs. vertical) murphy bed with a DIY fold-down mechanism vs. a kit.
Spot on. I can't stand to get to the upper storage, and he didn't actually show some things because they were too hard for him to get to. We had to just take his word that what he was talking about is actually there. Too much noise with the hydraulics.
The only way to truly make a home accessible is to bring the customer in and literally build the home around him. I designed and adapted my bathroom for my specific needs, which for me was to build a platform at 22 inches high, with the rim of the toilet sunk in to be flush (pun intended) with the hight of the platform, and then to also raise the shower so the floor of the shower was flush with the platform. All I have to do is scoot.
There is no such thing as "Wheelchair accessible" or "handicapped accessible". The two terms have different meanings.
"Wheelchair accessible" means being able to get around a space while in a wheelchair. Wheelchairs are different heights and different widths.
"Handicapped accessible" means meeting the needs of the individual based on their spacific disability (and abilities).
"Accessible" public restrooms don't work for everyone who has a disability. The same can be said for hotel rooms and bathrooms. People only think in broad general terms that ultimately don't work.
Able bodied people are often the ones who are designing things they think will actually work...until they don't.
Well, that was really cool.
Love it! The accessibility and well thought out space.
Citzenesse until the hydraulics go.
Good house and a good dog.
He's devilishy handsome ❤️❤️❤️
THAT is one slick, cool travel trailer! Great job designing it. Maybe you should be in the business!!!
Fabulous!
Finally a "tiny house" I actually like ! Because it makes sense ! Very nice !!! And yes, I also think you're hot!
This is awesome 👍👍
Totally awesome!
Great ideas and good for him. I'm so glad.
super helpful for those with accessibility needs
What an awesome design!
This is awesome!!
Great video for me as well I'm in a wheelchair
I see you found Marc's video already. :) Thank you for viewing our content, let us know when you are ready to build.
Me too

I'm in a motorized wheelchair, I've always wanted to get a tiny house. In 1992 I used to stay for months in a trailer home in viequez puerto rico, boy I loved it so much, but it wasn't mine. What do you guy's have so a person like me.
It's nice! I hope they're working on a design for people who have less lower body movement than Marc. BTW: Really like the Wheelchair, anyone know who makes it?
I know this is an old post, but the wheelchair is by a company called TiLite. I believe they are still U.S. based.
This gives me hope
This is pretty awesome. I worry about the mechanicals, but cool build!
Being paralyzed I think this is great & over due... and since a lot of disabled people are living on fixed incomes this is a much more feasible option.
The bathroom would be better as a "wetroom".
I would need a roll-in shower, the storage in the ceiling is useless unless you can stand. Besides that, it is great.
Like your home I’d like to live in something like that
Surely he is blessed. To God be the Glory!
Oh ... FFS. God has nothing to do with it you brainwashed Christian.
@@lizsteeds6697
Wow! John 15:5 Thank you. Brainwashed in His Biblical Word. But because of His MERCY, you will see in time and if not, it is your choice in this life to believe what you choose to believe. Beliefs have consequences. I will believe as I wish. Yea, AS I KNOW. This man is blessed. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
@@omaam1005 To Marc be the glory. He didn't need your sky fairy.
He'll be in trouble if the power goes out. Nice to see that there are options for wheelchair users.
Not Really. He has enough mobility to go to a plan "B". I've been using a chair for close to 60 years. The rear wheels on that chair pop off at a push on a button at the center hub. Go to the non "disabled" exit, remove rear wheels on chair, scoot to exit, transfer chair body and wheels out., self exit, and resemble. Yea, even if it means your laying in the dirt! You have to want it.
Very nice I need this built for me in Texas please 😊❤😊
Thank you! Actually this tiny is currently for sale, as Marc built a home and no longer has the need for his tiny. You can reach us at 208-468-0576 or via email at info@tinyidahomes.com for more information
Did I spy an Elkhound in that awesome house?
excellent house!!
@Tiny Idahomes, nice home! Can you build a tiny house with 2 downstairs bedrooms?
The bed is my fav feature
I'm loving your chair. Hopefully you see this. I also am in a wheelchair would you mind giving me model spes on your chair please?
I'd like one of these but it would need to be bigger as I cannot bend my knees. He also doesn't seem to have much relaxing space. I'm assuming it's a work-in-progress.
I could chill out there! 😎🤙
This model definitely has enough room for you and a couple of friends to chill.
Wow I love this.🤘✌👍❤😊
Nice pad bro im in a wheelchair as well...
So cool!
Can these be bought? My dad has been in the nursing home and this looks perfect for him.
Yahoo! An accessible tiny house. I'm not sure how that shower would be functional. I'm not trying to be nosy, I'm a wheelchair user that admires, and dreads tiny homes and nomadic homes; and secretly praying to live a different lifestyle.
I LOVE THE TINY HOUSE, BUT THE BATH ROOM, IT IS JUST TO SMALL, I LOVE THE RAMP FOR THE WHEEL CHAIR... SHOWERS ARE KOOL, BUT I THINK A TINY BATH WOULD HAVE REALLY DID THE JOB...
what about the kitchen & living area? i would've liked to see it.
Toby, you can see the kitchen and living area. living is where the slide out is and same is the kitchen. if you watch the entire video, you will see it around minute 4.
I'm in a wheelchair and I think having to share this little space with another person would drive me crazy, especially with my chair. Is that an RV?
Awesome!!!
Okay, he's been in this place for a few years now, so I'd like to know the things he needed to change. We're things as useful as he'd thought they be, and what didn't he have done, that he later figured out he'd need. What was all the "tweaking" that needed to happen? Even folks without disabilities end up having to do some modifications, so he must have had to do some as well. UPDATE PLEASE!!
hello, how are you? I'm in a wheelchair and I'm in the US and I'm having trouble finding cars adapted for me. can you tell me how i can retrofit a used car in Massachusetts
Why isn't the shower a roll in?
Looks like he can stand when holding onto something. So if he’s able to stand (even if he can’t walk) then the none roll in shower is a space saver.
he would have to spend a lot of time drying all the little parts to the chair. A slide in seat would be great though.
@@a.l.gilley7839 I have a shower wheelchair.
hey im in a wheelchair but will be disabled my whole life even if i can walk a little, I built a tiny home but my Dad tore it down , I am still trying to build another but don't have any help or friends until I can escape my current place or build a new one. i just need any advice on how you get land and a few instructions on how to get it done right. thank you sorry typing fast.
Hello! This unit is amazing and it was very functional for Marc. Marc has recently built a home and is currently selling this tiny house. If you are interested I would love to talk with you more about this. You can reach us at 208-468-0576
I've been looking for a good wheelchair accessible tiny home or accessible RV. Lots of great ideas. Where are you located & how much did that set up cost of you don't mind me asking?
Hello Christopher, we are located in Caldwell, Idaho and you are welcome anytime to come visit us and walk through our factory. Mark's tiny house ended up being $75,000
Is it really true, that shippin containers can remain intact after tornados . . .??
No.
I am also 100% disabled as you are. There is no facility for me to be disabled in India. You are very lucky that you have been born in this country. You are not as unfortunate as me.
Does Marc do his own vlogs?
I'm a paraplegic and I'm curious as to how you plan on getting in to that shower
I was thinking the same exact thing..
Mark how big is your’s l would like to have one for myself.
Hi Mark, this tiny house is 28' long
I would change for me the shower because I would have to transfer to a shower chair. And I wouldn't need deck either
Exelent
wow.. neat
Where can I get this home
Hello Daaiya, This unit was built by Tiny Idahomes. We are located in Emmett, ID. If this is a lay out that might meet your needs, feel free to contact us directly and lets chat. You can email us directly at tinyidahomes@gmail.com
👍♥️
How do you use that shower? It's off the ground and you're in a wheelchair. I can't figure it out.
Barb Barbie looks like he can stand and move his legs
Not everyone in a wheelchair is a paraplegic. I myself use a power wheelchair due to hyper mobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, I can stand and walk a few steps, but have to sit down while showering. And use a power chair for my daily movements that require more than a few painful steps.
Even if he is a paraplegic, a lot of us can still transfer. maybe he has a shower bench?
more than likely he has a shower chair and transfers from his chair at the appropriate height. It is obvious he is not moved in,
Guns, dog door, washer, shower, toilet water storage, all in one room.
Wow.. he so cute and hot... very perfect for him..
So you can walk. I see now. Would not be feasible for someone who couldn't walk.
