This is a good documentary on bangkok. Most youtubers only bother with portraying the stereotypical nightlife and prostitution scene. Bangkok is truly a manmade urban disaster of a city, and that fact needs more attention. Besides the unqualified authorities and power system, in my view one of the problems of this society is also that people aspire to rise above their surrounding society. i.e. living in gated communities, driving cars instead of walking and interacting with neighbours, going to shopping malls instead of markets. It creates a tiered, segregated society, where public spaces and transit are only for the poor, and the middle class feel they're too good to use those. There is zero desire for this society to raise the standard of living for everyone. Instead, they blame the poor for being stupid, and the rich aspire to a certain lifestyle of branded cars and luxury goods. The poor governance reflects this lack of demand for better public facilities by the middle and upper class, which form the majority of tax incomes.
really cool video! Until it cut off, but until then, at least, haha
47:03 *non-full ep :_)
The end is cut off!
Oh no!
Watching this video is like reading a good book that’s had its last chapter ripped out
