You can use 12mm or even 1/2" studs. Hopwood motorsports in the UK sells a set of 12mm studs. The 12mm studs will not fit through the cylinder head and some head gaskets though so you have to drill out the holes in the cylinder head. 11mm studs don't require any modifications to the head. I've run 40-50 lbs of boost on my car with 11mm ARP2000 studs and a cutring gasket and have never blown a headgasket. You can also get L19 11mm studs from ARP.
Sure but it would be a lot of effort for a potentially worse result. If you made a pilot to center it off the existing threads it would probably work okay
@@The96hardbody I said if the threads are already pulled out then you would need timeserts. If you do 12mm then you won’t need timeserts either, but then you need to ream out the holes in the cylinder head.
In my opinion 11mm is better. If you do 12mm you have to ream out the holes in the cylinder head and there just isn’t any need for more clamping load than 11mm
Always coming up with innovative stuff!
Amazing work, I appreciate this video!
Just watched your videos and you just convinced me I need an e30. How much HP can your rear-end and gearbox take?
Transmission is spec’d for about 1800 hp. The rear end could probably use an upgrade to 35 or 40 axles already.
Freaking awesome! could I place an order for this kit? I’d be stoked to use this on my s50 block for sure.
You can email me at alien-engineering@outlook.com
Better solution than ARP at 1/3 the price.
Is it posible to order this kit from you :)
go to alien-engineering.com and go to bottom end parts
Could 12 mom studs be installed onto the m52 block???? How much boost can the 11mm studs take without stretching or lifting the head??

@@someguy325es thnx
Would the head stud holes in the head need to be drilled out for M11 Studs?
No they fit
What boost level becomes too much for the clamping force of the stock head bolts?
there is no single answer to that question
Is this a viable option on a stripped aluminum block ? As apposed to a time cert?
No if the threads are already stripped out it will need a time cert
could I use a mag drill instead of the plate ?
Sure but it would be a lot of effort for a potentially worse result. If you made a pilot to center it off the existing threads it would probably work okay
Does that work on m52 as well? Thx
Yes
@@someguy325es too bad one allready messed up my thread with m12 insert.. thanks
What torque do you torque the 11mm studs.
How much is the kit?
How much for the torque plate
$400 to buy it, or $150 to rent it
Will it work for m54
@@The96hardbody yes but only if the original threads are intact. If you have already pulled the threads out you need to put timeserts in
@@someguy325es why time sert the block if my threads are good and I'm going 12mm

@@The96hardbody no I don’t
Very nice 👍
