The sound design has a lot to do with making things hit in this film. They will quiet a lot of the background noise and accentuate sounds, like pulling back the bolt on a gun, the spinning shell ejecting, reloading, a foot hitting the ground. It's giving the viewer a super power... hyperawareness... living in their world. And it makes the shot and punch feel so much bigger and more important. The director and his entire team just really get film making on an epic level.

The VFX in this film are top tier. From the practical to the CGI and there's a significant amount of both... in some shocking places. Scenes you don't even realize are nearly all CGI backgrounds are. Shots you'd swear are CGI are practical. They did an extremely good job mixing them and using them to the best of their ability. This is the kind of film where you just chuck any sort of reality to the wind and throw down with the film and have a blast with an insanely good story and ridiculously awesome action, because it straight up is an anime. Everything exaggerated and heightened. Including the colors and lighting. This film is just beautiful. I haven't seen a ton of films out of India, but no joke this is a common sort of thing. Just let go of realism and enjoy the insanity... even when there isn't some anime style character. And they always manage such beautiful shots.

One thing I think goes underappreciated is that SSR is an actor's director, yes, but an audience director first and foremost. He never loses track of the fact that the AUDIENCE needs to care about the characters, the situation, and the emotion more than any critic, journalist, or reviewer may ever get a chance to. He's mentioned in multiple interviews that he cares more about the actor's performances than he does about the precise framing, lighting, art and set direction, all of which he delegates (very wisely) to the crack team that he's assembled over the years. He has a vision, and he trusts them to carry out his vision implicitly, but he's never afraid to take constructive criticism either from his own crew.

Please add these Indian films to your list, you'll absolutely love it:
    - 3 Idiots (Just gotta experience it. First Indian movie to get huge international success in all of Asia & Latin America),
    - Dangal (biographical women sports drama),
    - Bajrangi Bhaijaan (an emotional roller coaster about a mute Pakistani girl who gets lost in India),
    - PK (a comedy that talks about superstition in religion),
    - Andhadhun (a blind pianist gets embroiled in a murder. Won't give any further spoilers, it's an incredible thriller).

This movie never lets plausibility get in the way of a good time. You could say it goes way over the top, but actually it just makes you feel like other movies dont go far enough.

Not technically a Bollywood movie. Indian film is very regional thing and language is a big deal (the constitution currently recognizes 22 languages). There are several major film making centers throughout India based on language. It might be even accurate to say there's no one cinema of India, rather several cinemas. Bollywood films are made in the Hindi language, while this movie is a Tollywood film made in the Telegu language (although for some stupid reason Netflix gave Americans the Hindi dub of this film). Indian film is such a vast topic that's barely touched on in Western film discourse.
Some of my recommendations of both classics and newer movies:
    Sholay (1975)
    Pather Panchali (1955)
Gangs of Wasseypur, Parts 1 and 2 (2012)
    3 Idiots (2009)
    Black Friday (2004)
    Bombay (1995)
    Lagaan (2001)
    Super Deluxe (2019)

Take a look at other SS rajamouli films (who's the director of RRR) like bahubali 1&2, Eega, Magadheera. Other indian movies thumbad, robot for a larger than life experience just like other Rajamouli movies.
Actually i got a pretty big list but, I don't ramp your brains with confusion 😂
