Brilliant video Brett! Till last year I had an imported Version 6 STi Limited Wagon here in the UK (very rare only 500 ever made in Japan). Sadly circumstances changed and it had to go but I do intend getting hold of a Version 5/6 Type R at some point - technical vids like this are a great resource!
The red dampers are inverted struts, v5 STI never got the inverted struts in Australia. Front brake calipers are same as r32 gtr but with different mountings, same brake pad as the gtr, rears have more force than the dual piston later STI. They are a good drive, still have mine and puts a smile on any day
my tuner told me that the heads of my car are stopping him to get big power what would be the best big port STI heads upgrade for an ej205 forester xt? is that model the one with the biggest head ports? I know is gonna be difficult to get used heads from those models though
I'd assume you figured this out by now but why wouldn't you just get some port work done to your current heads instead of trying to source better oem castings?
@@donmerrigan2362 it's not only the porting job man, V5-V6 JDM Sti has big fat cams as well also not so good at porting myself and too expensive to pay someone to do the job instead
@@Marc-gm5cm you obviously get different engines than in the states. The big port heads I'm familiar with are the v9 heads and they cost 900-1000 per casting. So 1800-2k for just bare head castings then you still need all the parts and machine work. For that cost you could pay someone to do a legit port job on your current castings, reuse any parts possible from your current set up and upgrade what you want for less. I'm sure your castings have different runner dimensions and maybe even the combustion chamber size. But the overall casting is going to be similar external dimensions. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to have a pro work your heads over to flow as good, if not better than, stock big port castings. And probably for less money. Just my .02.

The V6 STI is my realistic dream car. If only we had them in the states. Only 5 more years or so until I can look at importing one!
I miss owning one of these fantastic and exhilarating vehicles. I had #075 of 400. Owned it for 3 years and would happily own it again.!

5:27 UWe (the US) didn't get the STI models until Version 7 (GD chassis)
I've got my driver seat lower mounting nut rewelded as well.....common problem on GC8.
I have to check my passenger seat, because its not that solid
Great video!
Wish you guys are here in the states.
Kogie Kobayashi
Honestly, I’d let them take care of future problems with my bugeye without hesitation. I learned so much from their videos
Does the version 6 come with a vf28 or vf29 turbo?
28 mate
My 1999 v5 sti has a power antenna in the back on the left side of the trunk, I can see the has the antenna in the right frt pillar hmmm strange.
And alloy bonnet
my tuner told me that the heads of my car are stopping him to get big power

You'll notice the STI intercooler is thicker than the WRX as well
I didn't think the v6 was made in the grey?!?
Yes it is you moron. The ones we got here only came in grey and white
Alen Hawk they were steel grey, royal grey, white and yellow. The version 6 sedan only came in those colours
You forgot the tail lights
Those seats are expensive now
