Only 8 days left for Taemin's freedom, SM have the best solo artist on their hand and they let him slip from their fingers. Now is a new chapter on his career and we as fans are going to support him.
Taemin is a fiercely loyal person and he has always been in the upfront of SM for many years. He would never leave the company because of any external influence. Something has to have happened for him to make this decision cause he’s never the type to make this kind of decision since he loves his SHINee hyungs and all other SM artists. Whatever happens in the future, I just pray that he continues to have success in all his work whilst being able to be a part of SHINee and be friends with all the second and third gen SM artists for a very very long time ❤
I wonder if Taemin would join DPR? With DPR Ian being the #1 person he wants to collaborate with, and DPR Ian & their visual/directing fits REALLY well with Taemin's ideas. The problems would be that they might not be able to give him a big contract like other places, and they're not the biggest group out there.

But yeah, production wise it won’t be as big as SM but we can’t really expect many companies to match that level cause SM has been a pioneer in the industry and is one of the biggest kpop companies. But DPR productions still have their own charm despite not being as big as SM so I would love if Taemin joins them
I mean.... He gave more than half of his life to this company, they didn't protect him as a kid against predator and only left the other SHINee members protect him, and as an adult they didn't defend him against the horrendous backlash during his solo debut or during the Move era... I would only describe the Criminal era as sabotage with all the delayings and making it finally overlap with his work with SuperM, also cutting short the Criminal promotion because he was injured (while still performing for SuperM. SM disallowed him to promote his solo work because of his injury, but they still let him perform for SuperM. It was weird)... And recently, there was the whole harassment campaign during his military service, packed schedule weirdly done at his return, and more recently the whole Guilty fiasco. It was his most sensitive song, and yet they wouldn't let him perform it at year end shows while allowing other artists from other company to do it ? That's quite weird too (obviously, not KoL' or Yeonjun's fault, they did great, even if I was a little bit sad Kiss of Life didn't sing it since they are such a lovely group of singers). And the last thing we had was Taemin trashtalking SM for them not respecting the employees behind the scenes and not paying them enough. He already said it multiple time on live, but never this bluntly, and it ended up in the press, which did cause issues to SM (fuck them honestly). I'm glad Taemin is getting out, and I trust him.
It’s interesting what we know as adults that we didn’t fully understand when we’re younger. Watching the Guilty video and understanding the references he told us about was all I needed to know. I wish him success, happiness, healing and a safe working environment moving forward.

Not forgetting his hard time during the enlistment.. how he suffered from depression. He kept all the problems inside, until he couldn't take it anymore..he was very resilient 😔
I think the Guilty comeback was his last straw. He wanted to perform his songs at award shows and had to watch other artist and rookies do it. Guilty was the most vulnerable he’s been with us and he worked very hard so I know that hurt. He just had to smile and act like it’s fine. The famed SM couldn’t get one of their veteran and most successful artist to perform at any award show is ODD
Yeah, the songs on that album and the music video for Guilty, while telling a fictional story, are also telling his story. He literally put himself into that comeback and basically got nothing from it. You have to admit, that's gotta hurt.
I think SM is behind that. I think he wasn't allowed to perform his song. It was like a "punishment" because he was already thinking about leaving the company.

I am soooo happy for Taemin I hardly have the words. As a fan for yearssss now I have always felt Taemin should be bigger, and I started stanning back in middle school! Does anyone else remember before Taemin enlisted he was being really really honest about his dreams for his solo career, how he wanted to be more well-known, and be recognized for all the work he puts into his craft? I took that to mean solo tours and promotion outside of Asia for once! He would sell out insanely fast. Someone mentioned in the comments how SM doesn't want their artists bigger than the company and I believe it. I cannot wait to see how Taemin blossoms in his solo career outside of SM. He is my favorite Korean artist, I just want his artistry and talents to be known, he deserves it, like he's been at this for years. One video will have you wondering why he's not a superstar!
He's got a world tour now, but as of yet I haven't seen anything outside of Asia for it except the Kcon he did. Which is a shame, I'd love for him to come to Australia 🇦🇺 ❤❤
They're not even good at making money with them. Taemin could sell out large venues anywhere in the world, so could Shinee and EXO and other artists. SM doesn't promote them outside of Asia, missing out on millions.

Problem is not only do they suck at it but they intentionally never try to improve cause they're afraid one of their group would end up overpowering the company. They tied the groups like TVXQ, Super Junior, SHINee and Exo a lot despite their potentials cause they knew those groups could be the end of the company.
I guess SM forgot that when u have an artist such as Taemin, the artist doesn't work for you. You work for the artist. Taemin is one of a kind and he will be successful anywhere he goes. He doesn't need lables. The lables need him.
SM has always ensure that no idols are bigger than the company. As soon as they becomes too big SM will hold them back. On purpose. We have to celebrate that he is free now.
We need to remember that with 16 years in the industry, he knows it a lot better than we do. He knows the insiders, the options, and he knows the direction he wants to take - creatively and personally. Whatever the reason, I'm sure it's significant and it has been a thought-out decision to leave. Let's support him and be open-minded about what he wants to do next.
They literally let another idol perform HIS song instead of Taemin himself only after 2 months of the songs release. That was definitely his last straw with sm.
we can say that he'll still be partially in SM because of SHINee and group contract imo for solo he clearly wants more independence, freedom and finally being able to give his fans a world tour, because SM isn't interested in giving him (and SHINee) that, even though he's on of their best selling artists, his concerts are super successful and fans all around the world ask for a tour (recently he has said that it might be finally possible). i strongly believe that this decision was fully his, he said he has been thinking about it for about a year. he deserves much more recognition, he's a real star

I may be wrong but I think a lot of TaeMin’s activities after military discharge has been mostly him and not the company.. Taemin should have already had a world tour. He’s obviously SM’s #1 selling solo artist. Actually Taemin is at least the top 5 selling artist of the entire Kpop industry. As one of the veterans of Kpop and the fact he’s still so young with plenty of years left to perform is a game changer. I hope SM doesn’t mess him over with like copywriting issues or something similar.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Taemin and Taeyeon are definitely SM’s top selling soloists. They both should’ve had world tours by now, but SM’s Rucker’s just keeps that from happening. if KCON LA was any indication, Taemin would sell out just fine in the west.
Taemin Is not the #1 best seller of SM, never did. He probably is the better Solo artist, but not the best seller. Taemin was always SM's darling, he debuted as a Solo artist at the age of 21, Bruno Mars produced his debut album with Press your Number, they always gave him what he wanted. SuperM was created at his request because he wanted to debut with a new group so that new generations could get to know him. However, in sales SHINee obtained more results, this is observed when the members have Solo activities and fans ask them to perform themselves as SHINee. SM has to prioritize SHINee.
SM doesn't take care of his artists, we've seen a lot of this lately. If Taemin decided to leave he must have had very good reasons. He's not a teen, he's an intelligent man so I respect his decision and wish him the best. And all Taemin fans must give him our full support. We're not SM fans, we're Taemin fans.
Taemin is very protective of the individual colors of his solo work. He had to push to define it the way he wanted when it was his time for solo work. He wouldn't make a decision like this, one that could keep him from more work with SHINEE, if he hadn't tried everything prior to reconcile the challenges. These are professionals, the choices they make are for their craft and also their future success. I wish him well, always a fan.
In my opinion, taemin wants to leave sm entertainment for these reasons 1. He wants to try something new 2. The company wasn't treating him well. 2. Maybe he wants freedom to do what he wants.

And they make their own songs , they seem to do whatever they want, etc. But now that they left, we are learning a few things.....for example Sungjae wanted to have a youtube channel and he wasn´t allowed to. Maybe Taemin wants to experiment more with music , or he wants to tour more, or he wants to communicate with fans differently......of maybe he just want to say he is in a relationshiop and SM doesn´t allow. For anyone to believe that Taemin, who entered the industry at 12 years old and stuck with the same label up until now, would jump ship because of something like poaching, is just ridiculous. He's a grown man with 18 years of experience within the industry, he's not someone who'd just follow someone without thinking things through. Plus, it sounds like BPM is a better company than sm, I'm fully willing to believe that sm is running a smear campaign again.
The fact that Taemin is the first idol I can think of when I hear the phrase "born to perform" and SM kept him from doing just that breaks my heart. It must have been very disappointing for him.

I don't think Yeonjun is not at any fault for performing guilty.. I think he lacked the tact, sensitivity and ethics as an artist. There's nothing wrong with making covers but doing the latest work of an artist in an award show is disrespectful to Taemin whether or not Taemin is able to do it in award shows. He should have put himself in Taemin's shoes and thought about how would he feel if someone else perform his latest song and choreo in such event instead of him. And for both his company and SM to allow that is just too much. They really don't understand and care about how artists feel about their work.

Then Taemin's name was systematically erased from all HYBE's YJ cover video upload to 3 major platforms! Then Shawols' name was mass-poisoned by YJ stan 5 times our fandom size, for what? For daring to point out HYBE's willful ERASURE OF TAEMIN'S NAME. Pause and let that sink in. The sheer insanity and injustice. Revictimizing the underdog party again and again. All in broad daylight. Sulli was relentlessly bullied by Knetz for breathing as she enjoyed the freedoms even other SM artists didn’t have. She was still allowed to be under F(X) despite not promoting with them due to her mental health for years and given freedoms to explore other ventures. Sulli also had a horrible relationship with her family and from her childhood. SM is one of those famed for some BS with their artists but they had 0 to do with the suicide of those members. I just cannot stand to watch people blame someone’s suicide attempt on someone else. That’s way too heavy. Especially when the facts line up to say otherwise.

He left because he obviously wasn't happy there. SM don't know how to treat and respect their Artists properly, they see them as a product money makers and not as a human they are, that's why they are one of the worst companies and it will be their downfall
Can you predict the future? As long as the company has aespa and nct units, they'll continue to succeed despite how they treat their artists. Don't decide the reason taemin wants to leave the company. Until taemin himself doesn't say we can only speculate.
That's not how business goes. They're not the worst, they just see their artists as products not humans. They produce a product and promote it according to what they see fit. There's no place for sentiments in business, especially inside of SM as of now, what we saw with exo, lsm and others proves it well that all they think about is to keep the business thriving. If they made an EXO they can still make another EXO (though i highly doubt it) but don't look at this from the perspective of a fan but see it as a business mind, you'll understand better how SM really works. And such company doesn't fall that easily, unfortunately to some fans.

Taemin has been really held down. He needs a good agency to back up his massive talent. Taemin is bigger than any label. Taemin fans will always stand behind him. We need Taemin world tour asap. He is the best in K-pop. Period.

I completely agree with you! Taemin is an intelligent man who is fully capable of making well-reasoned and solid business decisions. SM is a complete dumpster fire now, and the fact that they have been so irresponsible with their top artists just goes to show how smart is is to get away from them. I certainly can see Baekhyun and Taemin (and the others) talking about the pros and cons of leaving SM, but that doesn't mean anything. This is entirely on SM's shoulders, and I, for one, am happy to see my ult member of my ult group get out from under the thumb of these idiots.

Hopefully this new company lets him come to the USA on world tour one day soon! The problem is SM will be left with only new groups who aren't hitting it big like the seniors. They will just keep pumping out new group after new group.
He's mentioned many many times on lives and stuff about pay and the treatment of staff too. Not just him, but all the people he works with. He's been vocal about paying his staff more, about how (upcoming quotes are paraphrasing, not actual word for word quotes lol) "the company keeps releasing more and more stuff but I don't know where this money is coming from. SM profits are non-existent so how are they doing this?", people joining the company and regretting it cause "the hours are long, the work is hard and the pay if horrible", the lack of proper management and promotion for his and Shinee's stuff leading to troubles, lacks of good venues/concerts/tours, etc He's been so so vocal about all these issues over the years, especially in the past few months. It was no surprise he left, but it came as a shock the way it was announced (incredibly rude of SM to do that, especially given Taemin didn't cancel his contract he very respectfully waited til it ended naturally). I hope he finds what he needs elsewhere and I agree he should be jumping ship now before SM really falls. I think he's really smart and has a determination that will carry his career forward, I'm sure. I also wanna mention Onew, who also didn't re-sign. I heard he actually paid for a large portion of his last comeback from his own pocket, which is horrible. His promotion was abysmal despite how epic and mindblowing his album was. Onew's too much of a sweetheart to air out any dirty laundry publicly (not that taem isn't lmao 😂) so for him to leave means alot I think. I trust them both to be smart about their careers and I wish them both smooth and drama-free careers lol 💛
Taemins talent greatly surpasses SM. Saying this as a kpop fan since 2010. I hope he can flourish elsewhere with his water like dance abilities and vocal skills.

Taemin is about to make a comeback soon, and his world tour has been announced. It proves that SM is indeed restricting or suppressing Taemin. They don't trust his abilities and don't give him opportunities. Recently, Taemin also mentioned wanting to pursue independent music rather than the songs arranged by the company.

Maybe TEAMIN wanted a fresh start and decided to not re new his contract cuss that happens a lot with artists that have been in the company for a long time I mean all four of the BIGBANG members have not renewed there contracts And G dragon also left YG entertainment and have gone with different companies apart from TOP so maybe TEAMIN wanted a new start in his career he may join a company he may not or he even might make his own company but it is hard to be a ceo and artist at the same time so let’s just wait and see what TEAMIN dose
Taemin also hasn’t had a real dating scandal other than with Kai, yet days before it came out he was leaving, bam dating scandal!!! SM is trash, hasn’t treated him good and didn’t protect him even as a kid against gross old ass men. SHINee members was the ones who protected him all the time. I’m glad Taemin left. What's wrong with SM entertainment? It's considered as the pioneer of K-pop industry. As a vocalist myself, I really used to admire SM entertainment because they used to scout & produce the best vocalists in the industry. Where most of the companies only prioritised dance skills & visuals, SM always had a holistic approach towards development of the idols. They had all the top dancers, visuals & vocalists but failed to protect them.

Taemin is a fiercely loyal person and he has always been in the upfront of SM for many years. He would never leave the company because of any external influence. Something has to have happened for him to make this decision cause he’s never the type to make this kind of decision since he loves his SHINee hyungs and all other SM artists. Whatever happens in the future, I just pray that he continues to have success in all his work whilst being able to be a part of SHINee and be friends with all the second and third gen SM artists for a very very long time ❤

I will ALWAYS support Taemin. whatever he chooses to do, I'm here for it.
I mean.... He gave more than half of his life to this company, they didn't protect him as a kid against predator and only left the other SHINee members protect him, and as an adult they didn't defend him against the horrendous backlash during his solo debut or during the Move era... I would only describe the Criminal era as sabotage with all the delayings and making it finally overlap with his work with SuperM, also cutting short the Criminal promotion because he was injured (while still performing for SuperM. SM disallowed him to promote his solo work because of his injury, but they still let him perform for SuperM. It was weird)... And recently, there was the whole harassment campaign during his military service, packed schedule weirdly done at his return, and more recently the whole Guilty fiasco. It was his most sensitive song, and yet they wouldn't let him perform it at year end shows while allowing other artists from other company to do it ? That's quite weird too (obviously, not KoL' or Yeonjun's fault, they did great, even if I was a little bit sad Kiss of Life didn't sing it since they are such a lovely group of singers). And the last thing we had was Taemin trashtalking SM for them not respecting the employees behind the scenes and not paying them enough. He already said it multiple time on live, but never this bluntly, and it ended up in the press, which did cause issues to SM (fuck them honestly).
I'm glad Taemin is getting out, and I trust him.
It’s interesting what we know as adults that we didn’t fully understand when we’re younger. Watching the Guilty video and understanding the references he told us about was all I needed to know. I wish him success, happiness, healing and a safe working environment moving forward.

I think the Guilty comeback was his last straw. He wanted to perform his songs at award shows and had to watch other artist and rookies do it. Guilty was the most vulnerable he’s been with us and he worked very hard so I know that hurt. He just had to smile and act like it’s fine. The famed SM couldn’t get one of their veteran and most successful artist to perform at any award show is ODD

Yeah, the songs on that album and the music video for Guilty, while telling a fictional story, are also telling his story. He literally put himself into that comeback and basically got nothing from it. You have to admit, that's gotta hurt.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Taemin and Taeyeon are definitely SM’s top selling soloists. They both should’ve had world tours by now, but SM’s Rucker’s just keeps that from happening. if KCON LA was any indication, Taemin would sell out just fine in the west.
Taemin Is not the #1 best seller of SM, never did. He probably is the better Solo artist, but not the best seller. Taemin was always SM's darling, he debuted as a Solo artist at the age of 21, Bruno Mars produced his debut album with Press your Number, they always gave him what he wanted. SuperM was created at his request because he wanted to debut with a new group so that new generations could get to know him. However, in sales SHINee obtained more results, this is observed when the members have Solo activities and fans ask them to perform themselves as SHINee. SM has to prioritize SHINee.

Taemin is very protective of the individual colors of his solo work. He had to push to define it the way he wanted when it was his time for solo work. He wouldn't make a decision like this, one that could keep him from more work with SHINEE, if he hadn't tried everything prior to reconcile the challenges. These are professionals, the choices they make are for their craft and also their future success. I wish him well, always a fan.
In my opinion, taemin wants to leave sm entertainment for these reasons
1. He wants to try something new
2. The company wasn't treating him well.
2. Maybe he wants freedom to do what he wants.

For anyone to believe that Taemin, who entered the industry at 12 years old and stuck with the same label up until now, would jump ship because of something like poaching, is just ridiculous. I don't think Yeonjun is not at any fault for performing guilty.. I think he lacked the tact, sensitivity and ethics as an artist. There's nothing wrong with making covers but doing the latest work of an artist in an award show is disrespectful to Taemin whether or not Taemin is able to do it in award shows. He should have put himself in Taemin's shoes and thought about how would he feel if someone else perform his latest song and choreo in such event instead of him. Taemin was being leeched and also being punished for rebel-rousing about rampant corporate child exploitation. It was a desperate, hungry, ruthless, wholesale gang assault on Taemin. Anyone with baseline integrity could tell though, if YJ had an ounce of respect for Taemin he could've warned Taemin in early December 2023 with a "hey I'm gonna cover your fresh outta oven title song GUILTY hehe with my pre-recorded voice and my own live stage hehe hope you don't mind". Yeonjun had at least 4 weeks to politely prepare Taemin for the shock of being front-stabbed, but did he? No. Instead, Taemin get stabbed the hardest way. Then Taemin's name was systematically erased from all HYBE's YJ cover video upload to 3 major platforms! Then Shawols' name was mass-poisoned by YJ stan 5 times our fandom size, for what? For daring to point out HYBE's willful ERASURE OF TAEMIN'S NAME. Pause and let that sink in. The sheer insanity and injustice. Revictimizing the underdog party again and again. All in broad daylight.

Sulli was relentlessly bullied by Knetz for breathing as she enjoyed the freedoms even other SM artists didn’t have. She was still allowed to be under F(X) despite not promoting with them due to her mental health for years and given freedoms to explore other ventures. Sulli also had a horrible relationship with her family and from her childhood.
SM is one of those famed for some BS with their artists but they had 0 to do with the suicide of those members.

Can you predict the future? As long as the company has aespa and nct units, they'll continue to succeed despite how they treat their artists. Don't decide the reason taemin wants to leave the company. Until taemin himself doesn't say we can only speculate.
That's not how business goes. They're not the worst, they just see their artists as products not humans. They produce a product and promote it according to what they see fit. There's no place for sentiments in business, especially inside of SM as of now, what we saw with exo, lsm and others proves it well that all they think about is to keep the business thriving. If they made an EXO they can still make another EXO (though i highly doubt it) but don't look at this from the perspective of a fan but see it as a business mind, you'll understand better how SM really works. And such company doesn't fall that easily, unfortunately to some fans.

SM is a complete dumpster fire now, and the fact that they have been so irresponsible with their top artists just goes to show how smart is is to get away from them. I certainly can see Baekhyun and Taemin (and the others) talking about the pros and cons of leaving SM, but that doesn't mean anything. This is entirely on SM's shoulders, and I, for one, am happy to see my ult member of my ult group get out from under the thumb of these idiots.
Thank the universe Taemin is free from SM finally! After all he went through during his enlistment SM did nothing for his artist! His solo promotion is a joke as the best artist of Korea! He deserves the best management! And he will get! I'll go with him to whatever he goes hyping him! ❤️

I think SM hates when an idol becomes to famous because it gives the idol more power to demand stuff from the company.
I think they get bitter over senior idols having more fame than newly debuted groups who don't have allot of power and do what their told.
The problem is SM will be left with only new groups who aren't hitting it big like the seniors.
They will just keep pumping out new group after new group.

He's mentioned many many times on lives and stuff about pay and the treatment of staff too. Not just him, but all the people he works with. He's been vocal about paying his staff more, about how (upcoming quotes are paraphrasing, not actual word for word quotes lol) "the company keeps releasing more and more stuff but I don't know where this money is coming from. SM profits are non-existent so how are they doing this?", people joining the company and regretting it cause "the hours are long, the work is hard and the pay if horrible", the lack of proper management and promotion for his and Shinee's stuff leading to troubles, lacks of good venues/concerts/tours, etc
He's been so so vocal about all these issues over the years, especially in the past few months. It was no surprise he left, but it came as a shock the way it was announced (incredibly rude of SM to do that, especially given Taemin didn't cancel his contract he very respectfully waited til it ended naturally). I hope he finds what he needs elsewhere and I agree he should be jumping ship now before SM really falls. I think he's really smart and has a determination that will carry his career forward, I'm sure.
I also wanna mention Onew, who also didn't re-sign. I heard he actually paid for a large portion of his last comeback from his own pocket, which is horrible. His promotion was abysmal despite how epic and mindblowing his album was. Onew's too much of a sweetheart to air out any dirty laundry publicly (not that taem isn't lmao 😂) so for him to leave means alot I think.
I trust them both to be smart about their careers and I wish them both smooth and drama-free careers lol 💛

I can't believe that they're blaming Baekhyun! Any artist can get out of there if they're not being treated well. Actually, I'm really happy that all of these idols left, now they look happier and are working in incredible music by themselves.

Taemin is about to make a comeback soon, and his world tour has been announced. It proves that SM is indeed restricting or suppressing Taemin. They don't trust his abilities and don't give him opportunities. Recently, Taemin also mentioned wanting to pursue independent music rather than the songs arranged by the company.
Taemina is such a big name in SM & by now & losing him to another company is not good for them.. SM needs to know how to treat their artists professionally. We don't know what the coming days are going to be like , but let's wish him all the best in the coming years.

Maybe TEAMIN wanted a fresh start and decided to not re new his contract cuss that happens a lot with artists that have been in the company for a long time I mean all four of the BIGBANG members have not renewed there contracts And G dragon also left YG entertainment and have gone with different companies apart from TOP so maybe TEAMIN wanted a new start in his career he may join a company he may not or he even might make his own company but it is hard to be a ceo and artist at the same time so let’s just wait and see what TEAMIN dose

Taemin also hasn’t had a real dating scandal other than with Kai, yet days before it came out he was leaving, bam dating scandal!!! SM is trash, hasn’t treated him good and didn’t protect him even as a kid against gross old ass men. SHINee members was the ones who protected him all the time. I’m glad Taemin left. He’s a smart man and won’t go to another company that will screw him over, plus he’s talking about his English, world food and all that on 🫧. What's wrong with SM entertainment? It's considered as the pioneer of K-pop industry. As a vocalist myself, I really used to admire SM entertainment because they used to scout & produce the best vocalists in the industry. Where most of the companies only prioritised dance skills & visuals, SM always had a holistic approach towards development of the idols. They had all the top dancers, visuals & vocalists but failed to protect them.
@mayurin1261 - because The New management have different priorities and plans for the company.. unlike when LSM was the CEO.. noticed how the new management is more into new groups than the old ones - luckily, Shinee & Taemin have solid fan base (us - SHAWOLS) who loves and support them all the way.💙

Now imagine all the creative, hard-working and responsible artists building a new company. I only know about Taemin or Soyeon from (G)I-dle (who want more freedom and are capable to perform), but I'm sure there're more of them. Obviously that's a lot of work and I wouldn't want them to shift their job from performing to management (unless they want it themselves). But it'd be very cool to have a new safe space for idols, with new rules, with connections and guidance from the veterans.
