- It's a story about a single father raising his son while struggeling with the death of his wife at the same time.
It's also my thesis film with which I'm graduating from University :3 Not a complete animation but an animatic.
Song: Goodnight Demonslayer by Voltaire
Special thanks to Voltaire again for giving me permission to use this song!
As a father who read stories to his son every night, I loved this video. He is a teenager now and doesn't need me to read to him anymore. I miss those days.
The stinger at the end really did just, hit me in the chest. I also really like how much he resembled the Devil in the boy's dreams. Hell I want to see more of this. I want to know more about what happened!!!
Dang, I'm glad you noticed :D and thanks a lot for the kind words!
This randomly popped up in my recommended videos. Great work, only started listening to Voltaire in the last 2/3 years and good to see someone making a good fan video.
Thank you a whole bunch, I'm very glad you liked it :D funny enough - working on that one video took me forever as it was one of the first ever longer videos I made and for that (for the lacking experience, lol) I'm happy it turned out "decent"! X)
@@crayscray haha better than decent. I showed this to a friend at the weekend and she loved the song and the video x
Will definitely look forward to any you make in future.
Haha, thank you very very much :') that really means a lot to me
This is wonderful. I've been a Voltaire fan for a long time. I don't have kids but if I did, this would be the lullaby I'd sing to them. The animation and story honors the sing very nicely.
Someone please fully animate this! It's great as it is, but think of the potential it has after being polished up!
Underrated animation
So like the Father is trying to find his wife's killer? And the boy dreams that the Devil he fought is the Killer?
pretty much, lol - I guess it could've been shown better but I didn't get much help with that when I made the video :'D
@@crayscray ngl that sounds like a good premise
Niceeee. So awesome! Loved it. So many cool ideas!
thanks a lot :'D
The overall story and framing you've done is excellent. I'm glad I found _this_ video to listen to my favorite lullaby with.
One small detail, however. The monsters referred to at the end of the song tend to use the crucifix themselves. It wouldn't be hanging up in a good person like the singer's home.
I get that and you are totally right! I wouldn't have hung that thing up either but in the end I was just looking for something - some steriotype - for my professors at that time. Just so that I could point and say "look, it's there!"
But anyways, I'm very very glad you enjoyed the video :>
Where on Earth are you getting the idea that the lyrics are referring to Christians??? I myself for example wear a silver cross almost every day and have various decor featuring it I adore this song.
No, the lyrics at the end refer to terrible people in general.
@@James11111 I'm getting it from the stuff Voltaire has said elsewhere and songs like "God Thinks"?
@@bearnaff9387 So from completely unrelated songs?
And even then, songs like "God Thinks" aren't about Christians in general. It's about bad people that falsely use Christianity as an excuse to be assholes.
*This* song makes no reference to religion outside of featuring the Devil as a villain and it being titled "Goodnight *Demon*slayer." So if anything, this song is *pro*-Christian.
@@James11111 I think you could it relate to the abuse scandals of the churches. So not so much all Christians but the priests and the system of the church itself. Although, I like the interpretation that some people are just arseholes better as well.
finally, I found the whole thing
Oh, wow, you went to animation school? I always wanted to but they only do 3D stuff at my nearest one haha
Yeah but right at that time I went there weren't many animation courses as the priorities of the school were shifting towards film making and away from 2d animation so it's not like I gained a lot from it :')
@@crayscray I'm sure there's SOME stuff that you learned there that you still implement 🫂🤝
@@_widas_ haha, you wouldnt believe, mate :'D
