Interesting Factoid: the crest was a bull. In real life Tyrone Power was born on May 5th 1914, Orson Welles was born on May 6th 1915. A pair of Taurus, one year apart.

Imagine. 1500. Albrecht Duerer paints the greates6 self-portrait in Western history. Leonardo and the Michelangelo are putting the final touches on a few frescoes here or there.Martin Luther is just warming up. Who knew they were blowing the roof off?

When I see these old period pieces I think of my ancestors and probably yours, too, who boarded sailing ships to come to the New World. Mine came from Holland in 1654. Grandpa Josiah brought seven sons with him. I imagine at this point in time I'm related to a lot of folks here in the US. Dad's family came from the mines of Wales to the mines of the Dakotas and Montana much later. Dad's granddad drove visitors around a newly opened Yellowstone Park in horse drawn buses.
My neighbor was just granted citizenship. She's just as American as I am.

Sorry, but yoou're wrong on your last point. You suffer from too much idealism and to little realism. The richness and inherited culture is not present in the newcomers. Moreover, they do not care to know about it. Worse, few of Generation Z care to, either. BTW; my ancestors came to North America in the 17th century, too. My oldest ancestor is Thomas Carter, the first ordained reverend in the American colonies. On my father, side, I am French Canadian, Quebecois, with Voyaguers and one who was a scout with Kit Carson in the West. I have one ancestor who is only one marriage away from George Washington. What said is like saying that ethnic Europeans are no different from a man from Africa or Palestine because they are European, too because they moved there.

Superb costume drama. The only drawback is that it was filmed in black-and-white to punish Power (and audiences) because he had married without permission from the executives at 20th Century Fox!

I always loved this movie. Shame that it wasn’t filmed in color. I always loved the Score. It meanders slowly, unraveling slowly & constantly into deeper & more mysterious depths. Wonderful score. I think it’s by Alfred Neumann

For all that was put into costuming and interiors it drives me nuts that I can't see the colors! 😢 😠 The score is so artfully done. Why modern day movie makers don't learn from these older productions is a mystery. So many movie scores today are just annoying.

Thats exactly what I see in Laurence Olivier.
    Exaggerated movements and speech
    Over acting!
All well and good in a stage setting
    However, not good in films
Ive watched many films that include Olivier and each character he portrays as if on a stage
It looks false and not natural
Maybe not his ego, he just doesnt know any other way.
I wonder how many directors heve noticed this but dont say anything, because after all, hes Olivier!!

      @shirleypena4133 28 дней назад +10

@saraswatkin9226 You have been listening to the lies that the BBC tells, lol. The Borgias were neither black nor Moors. The House of Borgia was a Spanish noble family, which rose to prominence during the Italian Renaissance. They were from Xàtiva, Kingdom of Valencia, the surname being a toponymic from the town of Borja, then in the Crown of Aragon, in Spain.
There are plenty of authentic portraits still in existence which were done during the time each member of that family was alive and every one of them clearly portrays that family member as WHITE. The family included plenty of blonds, strawberry blonds and even redheads. Henry VIII's first wife (Catherine of Aragon) was related to the Borgias
and she bore a strong family resemblance to them. Go look her up if you want to see what the Borgias looked like.
