Hi Susan hope you've been ok in lockdown. I'm a Yorkshire lass living in Hertfordshire. Shame none of us have been able to see our families for such a long time ☹ I've been watching Laurence and Tara since the beginning of Covid and it's been very entertaining 😍 Hope they can come over to see you soon x
@@jeanettepowell2106 We did get to see Laurence and Tarah the year before Covid-19 and the whole family got together for the first time in eleven years. That very special few days will be in my memories for ever.
Try to return to you mum and dad again next year. For one day, you will return to a home that has an unfillable void left by one of them. Absolutely, loved this video Lawrence.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! Thank you so much for sharing it! Your mom seems to be a lovely person & I am sure she misses you. My daughter lives & works in Florida, 900 miles away, & it is terrible when I have to leave her. Skype is a friend of mine.
You wouldn`t believe the amount of stick Grimsby gets over here, if you are from over there. This stick is dealt mainly on the grounds that the town is in the relatively poor `ill educated, fat and crime ridden` North East of England - according to Mainstream Media such as the recently come Fascist Daily Mail. But you are right, it is a lovely town and a rather attractive one ( at least during The Spring, Summer and Autumn ).
I’ve been watching your videos for about three years. I thought it would be moving to watch you exploring your hometown and reuniting with your family and I wasn’t wrong. Not gonna lie, I shed a tear or two. I’m very happy for you and your whole family! It’s nice when good things happen for good people.
I cried when you said you havent seen your parents in 11 years. I would do anything to see mine again. My mom died in 2017 and my dad died in 2002. Miss them so much.
That look on your face at the beginning of the video as you were taking in the sounds of the birds chirping...you closed your eyes for a moment...came across to me as ‘God I’ve missed this’...was priceless to watch.
Haha, it really isn’t. My cousins grew up there. It has nice bits ofc but it is a struggling northern ex-industrial/fishing town that has been neglected by the authorities, bordered by a massive fishing port and an oil refinery (immingham) and on the other side by a delightful now fairly shabby seaside resort called Cleethorpes (Fantasy Island ftw!). It has potential but it is quite impoverished, high unemployment, more in the vein of I guess Detroit in the US (but way smaller). It has a good museum and a pub on a canalboat (is that still there?). Lovely to see it through his eyes though, the nostalgia shines through.
I know this is three years old? But watching it made me cry. I stopped in the middle to call my mom, too. I hope you get to go back soon. Greetings from Kansas!
When me folks move to Florida and hadn't seen them in a year I would hear this song "Klikenney Ireland' on the radio about a guy who went to the US from Ireland and never returned even though his parents were pleading for him to visit . The lyrics were based on actual letters. I booked a flight the next day.
I have just moved back home after being gone since 1986. I feel your happiness and a little melancholy. It is good to see your Dad, knowing he will pass in a few years. My Mom passed 6 months after I moved back home. I know that you will become a US Citizen and then your Dad will pass. Thank you for all you do.
I literally teared up at the scene of your dad hugging you. I have lost my father to Alzheimers and I miss him. I LOVE your mom and dad! (And congratulations on the good weather!)
This was sweet & touching. Your dad is adorable & your mom so sweet. I visited my parents every week until they passed. Loved & respected them so much. Cherish your time with them. Life’s not the same without them.

Jemma James I was born and bred in Hull, still have family there. I now live in the US Minnesota, haven’t been back in 20 years, this brought back some memories of decline of the fishing industry of both Grimsby & Hull, they were the centre of the North Sea fishing industry, it was sad to watch it all fade away into the past, all the docks empty and filled-in and concreted over. This video was nice to watch, but too short.
Geoff McNair The war, didn’t help did it ? Now the COVID-19 is destroying what jobs we had here. People like to slate the city without ever visiting or knowing it’s history. We have done well as a city to pull our selves up after the war, as you know we still have a lot of car parks in the town centre which are basically war bomb sites, turned into car parks. Of course there are many places more picturesque or wealthy, but there’s many that are worse. Like any city there’s good areas and bad, but on the whole the people are decent hardworking and friendly. If you can comeback at some point, you’ll see how lovely your original city is becoming, just hope we can get over this hump and keep going forward x
When you said "there's a bike coming" reminded me if the show Keeping Up Appearances where Hyacinth would always tell Richard things like " mind the ____ " whether it was a car, cyclist, person walking etc but they were no where near them. Funny.

My sole England experience: a layover at Heathrow on the way to Germany years ago. Didn’t have the opportunity to step out of that big bird because the cleaning crew came in. One of them tipped their hat in my direction. And that’s all it took. Totally enamored since then. Looking forward to many more videos!

I became extremely un-british (which is understandable because I'm American! lol) at 2:20 !! Ok let me keep watching now because I can't get through a video without commenting! lol 1. Do your parents realize that you're a successful RUclipsr? 2.Can Tara tell us the story about how, why she wound up in England? Why/How did she come to choose the part of England she did? 3.I so very much LOOOVED this video!!
Good morning Lawrence Have just been watching Lost in the pond and your return to Grimsby to visit your parents and the town itself. Lovely I think to walk down memory lane. I myself am from Louth ..born and bred but,now live down on the South Coast in Bournemouth Dorset. I still have family and friends up in and around Louth, and the Wolds . Love the idea of postcards and just the other day received a pc depicting Louth . Your parents are lovely by the way.
One of my favorite childhood memories is waking up in the summer when I did not have school and hearing the birds chirping outside, picking out their individual songs.. Also, I love casement windows.
I loved the tour of your hometown. I've visited Britain but I was on a whirlwind 10-day visit and everything is a blur now. I'd like to rent an apartment and spend a leisurely six months exploring. I'm glad that you got to see your parents. I would be miserable if I couldn't see my children/grandchildren regularly.
I believe I saw a fisherman statue or the like. Was very high detailed. Reminds me of something we have at Land's End in Maine. Thanks for the video. Always interesting to go to the childhood home.
Oh my Goodness, your father! Susan, you lucky girl! I did get misty eyed watching this one.... lovely place, lovely birdsong, Tarah with her flowers in her hair.... truely enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.... Hi, Susan!
Hi Anna, we are really lucky to live in this part of town. We also got to see all of our three sons together for the first time in fourteen years ,but somehow it only felt like yesterday.
Grimsby looks like a wonderful place to live. As a mother that has survived raising 3 sons, I feel that dignity and the British way can be ignored when you haven't seen your son for 11 years. Your parents' greeting was so heartfelt and loving. You, sir, are a very blessed man!
Agree, you need to go back to visit your parents. You lived in such a beautiful area! So green! I live in Utah where it's dry and miss the greenery you can see elsewhere ( except for our mountains of course). Anyway, I'm 76 but imagine your folks are a bit younger but you really if you can see them more often. Can you Skype them? You never know from day to day. My mother passed away suddenly when she was almost 79 and now although she lived in another state, wished I'd visited more frequently.
Thanks for sharing this video with us! Grimsby is so lovely!! And I enjoyed the music, it was perfect for this video. Enjoyed this video very much! Great to see your town, and your family!
Thank you for taking us along to the home of your youth. You seem taller than I thought and your lovely lady seems shorter. I too have moved from coast to coast but either went home to Minnesota to see family or they came to visit. Now I'm back home amidst most of my family, just one outlier niece in N Carolina and one in Florida. Yet because of the pandemic we are apart.
I'm sure it was wonderful to get back home after such a long time! I hope you get to travel back befor another 11 years pass; that's just too long to wait.
Interesting seeing places I see daily or every two or three days, Wybers Wood, Great Coates, Freshney Parkway and Grimsby Town Centre from another Grimbarian
Great video, very funny. I spent my teen years and much of my 20's on Aylesby Park (my parents still live there) and now live at Great Coates. I walk the routes in the video regularly.

I remember the Dock Tower when was a kid.....on day trips to Cleethorpes the first on the bus to spot the tower won a tanner (6 pence).....
Fantastic video! Loved seeing your parents reaction upon seeing you. Beautiful town also.
Thanks, Kevin!
It is quite beautiful where your parents live.
Lots of special memories growing up in that house.
Glad you went home for a visit and took us along and Tara looks beautiful with flowers in her hair
I would watch this video just for the touching music.
Your "first" home is beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us!
That was lovely. Your hometown and family are dear. Thanks. You compose beautiful music, too.
I became extremely un-british (which is understandable because I'm American! lol) at 2:20 !! Ok let me keep watching now because I can't get through a video without commenting! lol
1. Do your parents realize that you're a successful RUclipsr?
2.Can Tara tell us the story about how, why she wound up in England? Why/How did she come to choose the part of England she did?
3.I so very much LOOOVED this video!!
Lots of Queen Ann's Lace plant there. Looks like home. That's the tall plant with the clusters of little white flowers.
I enjoyed meeting your mom and dad. They are lovely. I know they were thrilled to have you home again.
I'm not crying. YOU ARE!
Oh,Marks and Spencer!Would have loved to seen that!
Good morning Lawrence
Have just been watching Lost in the pond and your return to Grimsby to visit your parents and the town itself.
ElcsieRetakov yes. I live in Grimsby and it is a fisherman to represent all the men who died at sea. There is often flowers there too
You have a truly tolerant family 😂 Loved the family picture reboot🤣 God Bless you and yours especially you lovely bride 💝
Oh my Goodness, your father! Susan, you lucky girl! I did get misty eyed watching this one.... lovely place, lovely birdsong, Tarah with her flowers in her hair.... truely enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.... Hi, Susan!
Thank, Anna!
Hi Anna, we are really lucky to live in this part of town. We also got to see all of our three sons together for the first time in fourteen years ,but somehow it only felt like yesterday.
@@susanbrown5080 That is so lovely, Susan. You must be thrilled. We will make sure Laurance and Tarah do not stay away as long again. Hugs!
Grimsby looks like a wonderful place to live. As a mother that has survived raising 3 sons, I feel that dignity and the British way can be ignored when you haven't seen your son for 11 years. Your parents' greeting was so heartfelt and loving. You, sir, are a very blessed man!
Seeing where you grew up, why would you ever have left? It was/is so beautiful! Also you have a very youthful looking mother!
judy valencia it is not a lovely place at all it’s a mess and known for its trampy look
So glad I found your channel. All of your videos always bring a smile to my face. Loved this one, very nostalgic. ❤
Your dad is adorable. Smiley eyes like my dad. My dad was Scott's Irish.
Thank you.
Grimsby looks like a wonderful place to grow up.
It was.
I hope your family back home are healthy and well. The reenacting of the family portrait is adorable 😂
Fantastical video You grew up in a beautiful town and your mum and dad are great BRAVO Laurence and Tarah
That was very nice! Love your folks.
Wonderful video Lawrence. 😊,
I'm sure it was wonderful to get back home after such a long time! I hope you get to travel back befor another 11 years pass; that's just too long to wait.
Thanks for this nice video and the excellent music. Don't know why it brought tears to my eyes... (Iranian fan wishing you both happiness)
Lawrence you need to go home to see your family more often than once every eleven years. Love “Lost in the Pond.” FL Girl
Oh wow , this is so cool . I left GY for Oz 20 yrs ago .. I lived about 1 mile from your parents place !
Made me cry. Well done.
How wonderful for you. Still love your humor.
Interesting seeing places I see daily or every two or three days, Wybers Wood, Great Coates, Freshney Parkway and Grimsby Town Centre from another Grimbarian
Your family is precious! I want to watch all of the episodes!
Great video, very funny. I spent my teen years and much of my 20's on Aylesby Park (my parents still live there) and now live at Great Coates. I walk the routes in the video regularly.
What a quaint little town. Just like Grimsby, Ontario, except they grow grapes and make lots of wine in Grimsby, Ontario.
@Ad Maybe in the UK, but there is Mrs. H's Fish and Chips in Wahta Station, Ontario that is also very good. mrshsfishandchips.ca/
