      hey there, the elephant design I got off of Google I believe don't have the link anymore, and the letters were a free front and then I just modified and resize in image program

    what bit are u using what speed can u show how u set uo fhe edge guide u used in the beginning, is this acrylic used in place of plunge router and why ? i just bought this makita router and plunge base and confised about when to use the plunge base vs trim base ?

    • @ClevesBackyardWoodworking
      @ClevesBackyardWoodworking  3 года назад

      Used the chamfer 45 degree bit at full speed. The edge guide not totally necessary but just attached it and lined it up with the edge of the wood and tightened up. As for the plunge base in my opinion just used more for Woodworking applications like grooves or slots, custom acrylic base is more comfortable for me and easier to me. hope that helps.

    Hi, when cutting out letters or designs do I always need to cut from let to right what if I accidentally go the wrong direction will it still cut or will I chew up or ruin my workpiece? I know the bit is made to cut in one direction but what if I go the opposite way? Thanks

    • @ClevesBackyardWoodworking
      @ClevesBackyardWoodworking  3 года назад

      These are very good questions, I'm not a pro or anything but a lot is going to depend on wood grain and the direction of the router spinning. Face grain usually is easiest to carve and edge or vertical grain is harder and easier to make the router wobble. for me it's more of a feel and what's comfortable, turning the board around helps. This basswood is easy to carve in any direction but others may not.

    Why sanding sealer? I’m going to make a sign for my dads birthday.

    • @ClevesBackyardWoodworking
      @ClevesBackyardWoodworking  4 года назад +2

      hi, the sanding sealer is to help limit the spray paint bleeding on the edges in this instance. also may want to use it if staining, definitely on soft wood.

    Wouldn't it have been easier to just glue the paper design on, let it dry, then follow the pattern with your router, then to finish you just sand off the scrap paper that's left? No need to be using transfer paper.

    • @ClevesBackyardWoodworking
      @ClevesBackyardWoodworking  3 года назад

      There's many ways of transferring patterns, I've done it with paper, or ink transfer and transfer paper. put perfectly fine doing it that way.
