    I love Satyricon, new and old. Along with Marduk they're my favorite Black Metal band. Satyr strikes me as the type of person who gets bored easy and needs to do new things, reinvent, and push himself . I don't mind when bands change their sound as long as their new sound stays within the wheelhouse of what I enjoy.

    I used to play drums in a band in the nineties and we rehearsed in the basement while Frost was rehearsing upstairs (same time in the week as us). I would constantly forget my tuner key, so I would have to go up and knock on the door to ask Frost to borrow from him. First time I went up there I was kinda scared (these were murder and church burning times, haha) being a little shit 7 years younger than those guys, but he was just nice and sweet about it every time.

    Even tho I've listened to Satryicon since Shadowthrone came out, Rebel Extravaganza is my favourite Satyricon album. It wasn't like that when it came out but it has reached that position during the years. It's so vile, ugly, relentless, clinical - even annoying. Volcano also has magnificent moments but everything after that is not my cup of tee.

    • @derunsympath
      @derunsympath Месяц назад +4

      Yeah that one is special. They sort of rebooted their music with industrial/space themes instead of medieval which works great.

    • @CluelessEgg145
      @CluelessEgg145 Месяц назад +5

      Agreed, i think personally this was their peak aggresive album. Clinical, cold, mechanical and razor sharp. This album made them sound dangerous. A rare quality in pure music terms, that by the actual construction of sounds conveys the element of savagery and imminent danger. Don't care what anyone says otherwise! "Filthgrinder" was one of maybe the first 15 songs i had heard in my introduction to the genre and the onslaught of dissonance as soon as the blastbeats kick in was just something my brain couldn't compute in the moment but just kept coming back to it. As a side note, the fact this album predates Mayhem's "Grand Declaration..." speaks volumes, they had a way of making the album sound super modern and crisp yet still retaining the rawness, something that "Grand..." couldn't accomplish even after the remastered version that admittedly sounds more engaging. 10/10 Satyricon!💪

    It hasn't existed for 30 years!!!
    If you are looking for authentic extreme metal, with attitude and played with heart you have to look in Finland, it's the only place where black metal is produced...
    Luckily you will never find "rock stars" like Satyr, professor Ihsahn, clown Abbath and funny nerd Fenriz or Hollywood Shagrath, nobody in extreme metal needs these characters

      Yeah, except none of those current bands from Finland or whatever wouldnt be here without these "rock stars" you mentioned. Every one of those bands deserve to be themselves, they've paved the way for this music and were trailblazers.

      Good news for you then: I have interviewed many Finnish bm bands, like Archgoat, Beherit, Horna, Sargeist and Satanic Warmaster to name a few.

      @@nihilist1280 but this is not the point of my speech, this is another point and as I said in my comment this happened 30 years ago...
      In life coherence, honesty and balls are seen in the long distance, it is not because you invented something then you deserve eternal respect regardless, no! Respect must be earned!!!
      The Finns are real and authentic people and from these people only true musical extremism comes out, from the Norwegians what comes out nowadays? The black metal museum? 😂
