    My 2 pairs of compression stockings are from Germany, and I had to be measured before an order was placed. I also purchased boots which I wear at night. These items were very expensive, costing over $2,000. Fortunately, my insurer covered a large portion of the overall cost.

    Thanks, great information, still trying to find the right one. Lower legs worst in summer but during the year, not every day, haven’t figured it out, senior, maybe heart or kidney issues at age 76, been going on for ten years since retirement so maybe to sedentary. Osteoporosis in the spine and OA in the right knee and left leg is a quarter inch shorter due to a car accident and a broken femur walking with a cane for the last five years. Currently using off-the-shelf Dr Scholl with an 8-15 Mercury I tried the Sigvaris (sp) 20-30 but to tight. Still looking but thanks for the insight

    Great info... one piece of advice, make sure the seam runs up the front and not under the foot... I was fitted by a lymphadema nurse and she chose them from Haddenham Healthcare (Australia). Unfortunately the seam is under the foot and all 3 pairs had the seam fail in about 1 month of wear. They were toeless because I have been barefoot for many years. After putting in a complaint I was told the seams failed because I didn't wear socks ov ever them. I only get funding to replace them every 2 yrs, the company were most unhelpful!!! BI paid a seamstress to reinforce the seams with webbed tape, something I should not have had to do. 1 month = pathetic for something somexpensive. When time is up and I can get funding to replace them... Haddenham Healthcare will NOT be chosen again. I put in a report to the funding body too. They do make a noticable difference although having permanent menopause I hate having hot legs.

    I have been wearing compression anti embolism thigh high stockings (doctor prescribed for vericose veins) for almost 2 weeks. I finally got a Jobst large donner to help me put the stockings on as it was impossible (for me) without a donner. My stockings (Ames Walker) have a gusset that I have assumed should be on the inner thigh of each leg but I just saw a pair of anti embolism stockings that shows the gusset on the front of each thigh. I've tried to get an answer as to which is the correct way to put the gusset but have not had any luck. Will you please give me your opinion? Thank you and thank you for your excellent videos.

    I had to go through a 10-week treatment of leg wrapping to get my legs back to a normal size. Almost 13 liters of fluid came off each leg. $700 stockings and $1,500 for a home pump machine and still struggling with it. Frustrating.

      Seeing a certified lymphedema therapist may help. Even if a more intensive complete decongestive therapy is not needed, a CLT can help you and your physician find the appropriate compression garment(s). Rolling is common with ready-to-wear, circular knit compression knee highs & thigh highs. 5 cm wide silicone border is necessary. But if you have lipedema, a lot of adiposity due to obesity, a wide upper calf, a very "cone shaped" lower leg or thigh, a custom, flat-knit compression garment will likely be your best option. Seeing a PT-CLT or OT-CLT is essential for assessing your leg swelling, helping differentiate your edema issue, and work with you on a treatment plan. Your physician can write up a referral to see this type of physical or occupational therapist who specializes in the assessment & treatment of edema disorders.
      Garments that roll down and then dig into soft tissue like a thin circumferential band that becomes like a tourniquet. This can reverse the compression gradient (higher compression at the top of the knee high or thigh high). This can worsen edema condition, cause increased swelling below that rolled area, create a wound/skin injury, eventually cause lymphatic injury to area immediately under the rolled garment area over time. A poorly fitting garment (ready-to-wear and custom) can cause more problems and over time create more serious irreversible problems. See a CLT! Find a CLT that is experienced in customized garment fitting who also has a good working relationship with certified garment fitters (as durable medical equipment vendor at medical supply store). This video is excellent! Watch it through.

    Can you discuss open toe vs closed toe? Is there a medical reason for one over the other? The open toe is probably cooler, but that band around the foot looks problematic. Another tourniquet point? Thank you.

    • @vm1776
      @vm1776 Год назад +1

      My doctor told me to wear open toed after foot surgery, my whole foot including the toes are swelling but the toes can bearly handle being touched right now let alone compressed. My doctor gave me a size medium based upon my shoe size and we thought we were going to have to cut it off because it was like a tourniquet, I've learned that each brand measures/sizes a little differently but in the brand that he sent me home with, I should have been wearing an XL. With the right size, it can get a little tight but it's not a tourniquet issue. elevating and icing also helps with swelling.

    Man how are some people able to afford to replace garments when one you are on a fixed income and insurance doesn't pay one dimw for them. Plus if you are big person and you need pantyhose type and gloves and arm sleeves and torso garments that would cost a fortune. Most off the shelf don't work and a pair of custom pantyhose cost a 1000 dollars and one needs at least 2 pair so when is drying from washing . Who can afford that especially when you need custom for everything that would take alot of money every year year.

    How can stockings - whatever they are cost as much as the prices shown? Then, to say they need to be replaced every 4-6 months is an outrage.... These manufacturers and outlets are making a mint at the expense of those ordinary people that really need them.
    Your videos are great, very informative and this is not a blast at you........but seriously....how can these people get away with quoting prices that are effectively out if reach of those ordinary people that really need them. I would guess that it isn't only in the US....other Western countries will more than likely do the same......somebody needs to get a grip on this highway robbery.
