Your statement is incorrect. You absolutely can buy speed - aero helmets, aero wheels, form fitting trisuits - all of these will help against drag and help you be faster, this is proven in wind tunnel testing. Is Nick's position great, of course not, he's a brick sitting on a tribike, but small gains help with PB's.
@@leerob7738 well a 2x national duathlon champion, I have ridden 112 miles on a bike course with 4x the elevation Nick did at 58kg doing around 170-180 watts in 4:58, around 50 minutes quicker than Nick and then run sub 3 hour marathon off of it, with a bike worth around $2200, because I made myself optimized in the aero position. It's about the athlete not the equipment... Nick is an athlete no denying that but in triathlon he's not there yet, he's not at a level where he can qualify for Kona right now, I have no doubt he won't improve vastly and get very close to 10. I am definitely envious of the Texas weather. I’m 46 and have been running in Midwest winters for 25 years. After all these years, I just get tired of having to layer just to get a decent run in. How cool is it to be able to run and swim outside in mid December. Good luck Nick. As usual you are working your a** off.
Huge split drop offs still. Most of the the 11 second drop was in the first 200. For the 400m/500Y your 100 splits should be no more than 5 seconds from the fastest 100 to the slowest. Go out slower, trying to hold all 5 100s @ 1:30 gives you a 7:30 - 40 seconds faster. 1:24 might have felt easy but I guarantee you produced lactate and you paid for it in those 1:40 splits.
Who doesn't love a new bike day! Great episode and look forward to seeing you progress with your tumble turns in the pool that Natasha has been teaching you, as that 500 yard swim time will plummet when you can execute them. P.S: For the next episode can we please have: "Miles changed to kilometers" and "Yards to meters" - thanks!

training load getting tough, keep going nick
I think if you can afford it and want to buy an expensive bike then go for it. You can definitely train and race on a way cheaper bike but if it’s disposable income ...buy a super bike if you want. As long as you’re not under the illusion that fancy equipment is all you need to make you good. It helps, but nothing will make you faster than hard work does. And I think we can all see how hard Nick works, he is under no illusions. Just cos you can’t afford a crazy bike don’t hate on someone who can 🤷♀️
Wow this physique in endurance sports is super impressive!
I said it about the turns but whilst your at it can you teach some bilateral breathing? He's getting such a gallopy stroke
Nothing wrong with a gallop stroke if the breathing is efficient
Can you put the pacing in Kilometres on the screen aswell? Love the content Nick
Nick "English muffin" Bare
Do we do that here?
How did you get the bars angled up like that? I have the 2020 model, and you cant change that. Just an upgrade for the 2021?
When I’m tired my swim always goes to crap first. Very normal when fatigued. Once fresh those times will drop massively
Casually dropping $10,000 on a bike... soft flex lolololol
Bikes not 10k maybe 7k
@@shaychavez5113 Not saying it's what he paid for it, but it's 12.5 listed on Bicycle World's site... www.visitbicycleworld.com/product/cervelo-p5-dura-ace-di2-381043-1.htm
Should of have been the speedmax :O
DISC BRAKES will be a nightmare during transport. Hope you have the pads dialed in before your race.
