- Heroquest has ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!! This video series (similar to my Necromunda Terrain series) will go into DEEP DETAILS of all the facets of this game. I will be uploading them as they are made. I hope you find them either helpful and/or enjoyable.
All I am seeing in this video is that the stuff I will be getting is high quality and well made.

Even though the art looks almost identical it's not a scan. It's a redraw/paint.
I love the new set and can not wait to introduce my wife and friends to this game. I used to have the main game, Kellar's Keep, Witch Lord, and the Elf Quest Pack when I was a kid. Sadly, my brother sold them off for drug money, so when Hasbro announced the set last year I had to do the $150 tier. Not only was it great to get the updated stuff, but even the new pieces through the add-ons are fantastic, especially since now we get an actual Witch Lord figurine instead of having to use the Chaos Sorcerer in place of him. I always hated that as a kid because the Witch Lord was my favorite design in all of Hero Quest.
Anyway, I know I'm posting on your first comparison video, but I watched all three of them in game order. Thanks for doing these as I loved getting to see how the designs compare and contrast between each other. I also now know why I couldn't remember the Abominations at all since they weren't in the original and why I kept calling the Dread Sorcerer the Chaos Sorcerer.
I always thought the chaos sorcerer fit the position well since it's basically a skeleton wizard and the witch lord is basically that.
It fit well, but his design was still quite different, which is why I'm glad tehre is an actual Witch Lord now.

Wow, I was expecting brand new content. Glad I did not back this, I have 3 copies of the original game and every expansion except the Frozen Horror (Barbarian quest pack). Good to know I am not missing anything new here.
Well there was a box with 3 new campaigns... (each campaign with multiple quests). The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness (by Joe Manganiello) with 10 quests, Spirit Queen's Torment (by Teos Abadia) with 14 quests), and Prophecy of Telor (By Stephen Baker) with 11 quests. Also has a few new character options (Bard, Warlock & Druid), new minis and such. But that was in a different box. He is just comparing the Return of the Witch Lord boxes.
In order for there to be new content, they first have to redo the old content since it has been 30 years. Some people missed out. Some people weren't born yet. Others, like me, had their brother steal their game and sell it off for drug money. As such, I am glad to own the series again.

Not in physical stores yet, only for those who backed the Haslab version. It sounds like the retail one won't hit stores until next year.

I have got no emails saying it has shipped and nothing from HASBRO, but i hear USPS is handling final delivery for some people and not requiring signature.. sad, this means porch pirates will be on the move. Sadly some USPS deliverers don't even bother to go up to the porch for people and will throw packages into their yard even when raining. that is what I am dreading.
Mine shipped two days ago and I didn’t get notification until this morning. Also, it’s coming fedex with signature required delivery if that helps any.
@@ryane.3539 Some people have found it on their doorstep with no email, no signature required and delivered by USPS.
So it doesn't help with the continued failure in communication by Avalon Hill and HASBRO.
To do a true price comparison, you would need to bring the $10.50 price from 1990s to today's value. It being only 30 years or so, doubt it would jump too much. The extra $50 between hero and mythic tiers could also be divided into the "bonus" pieces including the Mentor and Sir Ragnar. I actually forgot about the advertisement because like you, I am early 40s so high chance the advertisement was tossed when my family got Return of the Witch Lord. I am impressed you were able to get an pretty much unopen original set. You had to use the plastic bases from the original set for the wooden and iron doors for the two expansions. Dud you mention the spell scrolls are in the card deck? I am glad they aren't the flimsy paper ones that was part of the quest book.
I don't know. I mean, toys that were $5 in 1990 are now $25 in 2021. Hell, rent here in Colorado averaged $700 in 2006 and now you're lucky to find an apartment less than $1800.
Had the original game but it disappeared fairly recently. I meant to pre-order last year but forgot, so now I've just ordered the main boxed set. Hoping they release the expansions separately since copies on Ebay are crazy expensive.
Even back in the day I never cut out my cards from the expansions. I thought that was dumb that they did it that way.
your skeleton that was "posed" different is actually bent plastic. I had a couple pieces like that between all the sets. plastic def is "thin" in places on some figures.
Yeah, just heat it up with a hair dryer to get it back into place.
New one is the the same as the original UK release. Remember localisation lol...those were the days.

Weird my expansion packs where in black and white parchment in the 90s no colour just plane black and white . on yelowish paper.

The original you have must have been a North American thing. The Australian/NZ original one was also identical in look to the new one. That purple is a bit funky.
The lack of Chaos warrior I have been told is because Chaos is part of War Hammer who used to own Hero Quest. Hasbro has it so anything chaos has to be rebranded. Thank you for the comparison.
my crypt of perpetual darkness cardboard tiles/tokens were not in the box do you think you could send me a photocopy of the tiles from the dragon expansion i can prove to you that i did buy the mythic tier. i called Hasbro and they told me they are waiting on pars which tell me that is might happen to some more people

Well, it's not exactly the same, but they needed to do the old stuff in the modern day so then they can do new stuff.
