Glad you guys were out there. Your dad gave a picture of the car with him to my 7 year old son on Friday night, Its going on his bedroom wall. Beautiful car, definitely our favorite out of the race and glad to see yall keep it out the wall!
Nice driving TK kept her off the wall. I would check that right rear spring and see if it’s weak, busticated or both. That right side squatted right down on launch.
Back in the day, gassers didn't have narrowed rearends, quarter panels were cut out for the slicks. High stance combined with pro stock style narrowed rear, is probably the issue. Wider rear helps stability when it gets out of shape, and at high speed, when the jacked up front end forces air under the car. Pretty car, but pick what you want it to be. Gasser or Pro Stock, don't try to combine the two. Kudos for using the 63 Fairlane, one of my favorites.
Wow ; out of control ! Something isn't right for sure. I do love the sound of Miss Fitt , I could listen to that blown BBC all day. I hope you get it straightened out ( I'm sure you will) . Great save by your dad, good driver . Thanks for the video.
Miss Fitt is a rowdy girl for sure , I'm glad pops got a handle on her on that pass . You guys will figure it out and be out again before you know it. Looking forward to some cackling on your next video. You guys take care and I will catch you on your next video.
He ran right after the jet cars and you can hear all the gravel on that track in the wheel tubs. Good save!!!! A panicked driver would have wadded that deal up, for sure!!! That second run was awesome!!!
Ladder bars, high CG and the motor making some good snot.....That combo has violent written all over it. Dad did a helluva job reeling it back in though. No panic in his eyes. After watching the video a few times it doesn't look like excessive antisquat but there seems like way too much front end travel. Maybe limiters on the front? A shot with the left rear slick in clear view relative to the fender would let you go back and see how much antisquat there is before thinking about what to do with the shocks.
That is a great car! Your dad is a hell of a driver that was an epic save. I know you will get it lined out I wish you would have included what he said when he got back from that first run. I would have loved to see his reaction, I bet he was cool as a cucumber I would have had to forgo the interview to get some new shorts 😂
Thank you! Haha yeah he didn’t have much to say, I was hoping to have some good stuff on the GoPro but he stayed cool, I didn’t press the issue of getting an interview lol.
Wild Willie only drove with one arm! These things are in the dictionary as "Difficult to drive" and obviously something is off with rear suspension as it launches crossed up. Keep up the good work! Obviously the car goes left on launch. I think it's time to adjust away from being square and practice someplace where there is nothing to hit!
A handful so to speak. It's a straight axel car. Not a lot of adjustment. So the rear is super important. You will get it dialed a combination of shock and spring rate. I have forty pairs of springs and changed until the perfect rate for most tracks. Learning curve within my rules was expensive scale will be game changing. Wish they had them before. Now get after it I want wheels up till the finish like a arrow. Thanks for sharing love you boys.
Great save TK..... WOW.....i think the track wasn't there but hey i think is a adjustment away or two from being dail in....back to the drawing board has the saying goes ...be well guys....🙂👍🙏....P.S.....aces high, aces high, aces high....😆👍
It was definitely a combination of things, but we certainly have some suspension work to do still. We'll get it! I'm excited for Aces High as well! Thanks as always!
So glad your dad didn't hit the wall! I think I would much rather drive the mustang. I think miss fit is trying to kill y'all! Lol!!! Enjoyed seeing miss fit, but waiting to see y'all in the mustang. Take care looks like so much fun wish I lived closer would love to see y'all in person. Maybe at some point I take a trip that way.
In spite of the problems, I loved seeing Miss Fitt making some hits. As was the case with my B class dragster, sometimes the most basic of problems are easily overlooked. I noticed Miss Fitt lifted the right rear tire off the ground during the first launch, like there's no compliance (travel) in the front shocks and very little in the rear. Wondering what your corner weights are and how much shock travel are in each corner.. cause the weird stuff happens when you reach the limits of shock travel. When the rear suspension is under load, the weight of the body appears to be binding the front suspension and not able to find balance. Working with your corner scales, adjusting spring rates and rebound dampening should help find balance.
Definitely! We are going to get her on some scales asap and get it sorted out. For the second pass we moved some preload to the left rear to try to make it drive back right but I don't know that it actually helped any. We were just shooting in the dark so we called it until we can get some real data, corner weights and geometry on everything. We'll get it sorted out for sure!
I was just gonna suggest that you four scale the car, but you are already one step ahead and have them on order. This should help a lot! Also, a friend named Kevin Wilson on RUclips has a suspension channel. He runs blown methanol door cars, and he can absolutely help you on your chassis setup!
FYI The driver should be sitting in the car when you make rear end adjustments just as if you’re sitting at the tree ready to leave. Very important! Never make adjustments without that factor! That goes for the sway bar as well. You WILL notice it change. Your car unloaded the drivers side wheel causing it to veer left. The front suspension didn’t have compression ability so it bounced causing the out of control issue. We ran pro-stock. I’ve work with these setups a lot. Be safe out there and get a good baseline setup on the rear end.👍 Would be interesting to know what your IC is on that car. Also the weights on each wheel. Might want to seriously think about a four link to get more adjustability. Especially since you have a new animal under the hood. Not being critical. Just want to help. Remember, pre-loading the rear end is only a band-aid for something else that’s wrong.
I can't believe the second run was that quick, standing behind the car it seemed slow, and that was also a best MPH at 128, faster than our quick ET in Texas last year, so she'd definitely making the power. We've just gotta get it put down to the track.
I have nearly the same rear suspension set up. My ladder bars are mounted more out bound near the brake drums not near the third member. When launching my car, it doesn't drastically dip to the passenger side as your car does.
Too much bite on the right tire. Put it on scales check it with pops in the seat. Go to the track after it’s scaled and start adjusting the bars of its still rear steering at the launch. Good chance you fix it from rear steering on launch it’ll settle down out past the 60’… yous will get her! Got all the right ideas! 👍
Definitely, we had it all set back to neutral and square, the second pass we put some preload in the left to get it to plant more and try to drive it right but it didn’t seem to help much. We’ll get it figured out though!
We don't have anything written in stone yet, be we'd like to make Funny Car Chaos Ennis in October if the budget allows it for sure! Fuel prices have put a damper on our travel plans this year unfortunately.
This might not be nothing but it's something to think about---25+ years ago I had a drag car it left the line straight as a arrow I rolled threw the water than did burn out--now I got my buddy to drive it one night told him how to stage because he helped every time I carried it so he pulled in the water box started burn but the back tires was in the water did burn out it true water in finder wells pulled to line stage water dripped from fender wells to track when he left the line it turned him any way it wanted to so just something to think about.
It definitely does, we would love to be able to apply the power at the hit, but it may not be practical with the old school setup, so that will be the next option. Probably pull some early and we can turn the boost down if needed. We’re making a rear gear change as well to try to calm it down some.
Like Frankinstien said it looks like it's launching hard on the right side putting it to the left. You'll get it just takes alittle time. My butt would've ate that seat that first run. Tell pops nice save. 😳
Ronnie Dean may like to taste PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) but it looks like TK is ready yo join the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) after that ride. That photographer that TK was headed for at the end hung in for pictures till the last minute. Great car control even if it did cost him a pair of underwear.
We may definitely need more spring. We went up on them a few times in the past as power level increased and it was squatting more, I believe those are 220’s on it now which seem to be heavier than most people ever recommend, but it’s still obviously smashing that right rear one. We put an anti-roll bar in it also to try to help it and it’s still doing that. We’re going to examine all that stuff and check spring rates again.
@@NitroUnion keep in mind how far forward the rearend is with the weight over that axel. You are right the scales will help you alot so you can puck the correct spring. It did look like the car is making way more power then i have ever seen. Love watching you guys so try ro post more lol. Im a ford guy so keeps me going on my car.

He ran right after the jet cars and you can hear all the gravel on that track in the wheel tubs. Good save!!!! A panicked driver would have wadded that deal up, for sure!!! That second run was awesome!!!
I did notice it sounded like a lot of debris on the tires, may have picked some up as close as it got to the rail and as it crossed center as well.
Jet cars should only run at the end of an event, they leak kerosene all over the groove.

I wonder if it was because you now have stronger ladder bars , the old ones let it dance around alittle bit and hook up?

yeah tough problem. Something throwing her to the side. Seems front left of car is coming off ground at launch.
I think there might be some extra skidmarks in the shorts after the first run.
He held on to it like a turkey sandwich with just tomato.

That engine makes a ton of torque not to mention horsepower. How about a rev limiter so as not to over power coming off the line in the 1st 100 feet.
