Clothes sizing has changed dramatically over the years. When I was young a size 14 was a 26 inch waist and now it is 30 inches. When shopping in charity shops you have to remember this as it can be disheartening when it is really just old sizing. You look amazing in whatever you wear. You are a very beautiful woman with the most amazing smile.
This is very much true in US sizing. I currently am wearing from size 4 to size 12 in jeans; also wear 28 in traditional Jean sizing like Levi's for women, but 32 in men's. I'm 62 so have jeans from 1980s-present. As a girl in the 1970s, the smallest pants you could find for women was size 4-6. Now its 00!
Having a non alcoholic option available is also great for hosting! Some guests may be expecting, or have a history of addiction, or simply not want to drink that day. So it’s always great to have an option to available for them 🤗
Maddie, given the damp in your wardrobe and house, please air (dry) all the clothes you are planning to store by hanging on your kitchen pulley for a few days. Otherwise they will get mildew in storage. I’m afraid it is part and parcel of living in an old house. Also don’t cram your wardrobes full, allow air to circulate by leaving doors open for hours at a time and buy a good quality dehumidifier (one over £200) and run every week for a few hours in all your upstairs rooms. It definitely makes a difference and you will be amazed at the amount of water it will extract from the air, carpets and walls.
@@MadeleineOliviayes, old damp houses suck, my winter coats get mouldy no matter how well I dry them before leaving for summer and they're not in a wardrobe. So difficult, amd stored clothing always smells musty,
🐶. Maddie love your videos. Your home is beautiful. I could listen to you speak all day… the British accent is everything ! Red and burgundy are your colors… very flattering to your dark hair and porcelain skin ❤
That was really fun and relaxing. Thanks for bringing us along! I was so excited to see your corduroy dresses come out of storage! Like, the signal of a new season!
Your home is beautiful and you're doing great. You are so organized. Right now, I'm drowning in projects that need to be done. Hopefully, I'll get them done one at a time. Give your doggie a hug 💗 and enjoy.
I just wanted to say how uplifting and reassuring I find your content. I starting watching during vlogmas last year and I can honestly say that I really love all your videos- especially all the lovely home content and the gaining the weight back series. Thank you for being so lovely! ❤ x
Rather than pay 160 pounds I washed mine in the bath with vanish (for silk) and the stains fell out and it smelled great, clean as a whistle. But that was Mikado so depends on how many details etc. Definitely wash it yourself if plain mikado/silk!
I too have recently been embracing the looser fit/boyfriend jean, they're just more comfy and also have deeper pockets which is great as I'm not much of a bag wearer. Clothing sizes are just arbitrary, whatever fits and makes you feel comfortable is the most important. 🐕 🐕 🐕
I had one 75 cm pax and drawer under my bed for all my clothes and in the new apartment I won’t have any more so watching RUclipsrs closets always shows me how minimalistic I am without even trying 😂
I destroyed my wedding dress on a heather fell. Again photos are amazing! I made it and at the time I was so sad that it was ruined, but there was enough of the fabric left to make my daughter's christening dress, which is actually much easier to store lol
🐶 Lovely declutter vlog Maddie. Love the jeans & jumper combo, colours really suit you. The red coat is adorable, Little Red Riding Hood vibes ❤ I find it difficult keeping alcohol in the house as I know it’s there and want it so I tend to buy it as and when . Best wishes Karen 🧡🍂🍁🤎
Hey Maddy, as someone who has only just realised this about myself, I’d recommend looking into ADHD for women. I know it’s everywhere atm but honestly you remind me of me. It has been pretty bizarre figuring it out and reframing my anxiety and depression around my ADHD but honestly life changing and in a good way. I’ve begun to finally accept that my brain doesn’t work typically and I had so much internalised shame and negative self talk because of it. ❤

Hi Madeleine! I would totally save that liquor to bake and cook with for the holidays! Who knows it may inspire your next cookbook -- homemade holiday cakes and pies! 🐶
That Royal Blue sweater/jumper is to die for! Keep. It's like watching Mary Poppins pull everything out of her carpet bag, watching U pull all those thick coats out of that skinny, middle, wardrobe door. I'm glad U have so many coats, since it gets crackling cold, in the UK. My son got married there in Sept., & the winds are icy!
The reason you have mould is the fitted wardrobes probably not the pointing I have an old house that has double glazing which was not meant for the property , I have to put those little throw away de humidifiers in wardrobes drawers etc as I do get mould, even though we have bare floorboards and an open chimney, it's amazing how much water they collect . I had wardrobes built in but I would suggest if your changing them get freestanding ones.
Josie (Fashion Mumbler) washed her wedding gown by hand in her tub. It was a laborious process but better than a cleaner. It would be in a June or July 2023 vlog.
Also Maddie, there are wedding dress preservation services that can sort out all the stains and then preserve it in a box. I have yet to do this for my own wedding dress (over 4 years later 😬😬 ). Another disorganised person here 🙋🏽♀️
The blue summer dress matches very well with the purple rose jumper. Also the alcohol could be split between kitchen and the garage. Weren’t you planning on drinks out there when you have movies or host? Your house really is looking well curated and gorgeous. I think I missed what’s happening with the former office space. You’ve painted the outside and then moved out. Waiting to renovate? Or waiting to renovate it until after repointing, guttering, and possibly stripping paint off the stone on the rest of the outer walls? Thank you for another inspiring video Maddie ❤️ 🦮🐶

The gingham dress can be layered with a thin black, or red, cashmere sweater under it, or thin knit cowl neck sweater under it, & petticoat under the skirt part, & boots for leg warmth. Glad I’m not the only person who has still not got their wedding dress dry cleaned. I got married a week or so after you Madeleine, and similar to you it has grass stains and mud from the day. It has been sitting in the box in the back of the wardrobe ever since, and is a constant annoyance whenever I see it that I haven’t done anything about it in two years! Same with my wedding dress - it isn't cheap to dry clean and whilst I intended to get it done I keep finding a million other reasons to spend that money on other things! Plus I am never going to wear it again so it seems a bit of a waste.
Instead of everyone bringing over alcohol this year, let everyone know what you currently have and have them come up with drinks to use up the alcohol. Or as everyone leaves this year, have them take a bottle of something they'd like.
