EQing the reverb (HP and LP), feeding delays into reverbs, and automating them to create contrasts - such as drying out for an intimate part of the song. Have a great day! Thanks. :)
It’s most likely some failed producer wannabes that are used to doing things differently and consider their own feelings super important. Marc is the man, so inspiring!
Wtf. I can listen to this guy talk all day. He’s so mellow and soothing and his voice just has this nice tonal harmonic with just the slightest amount of natural soft distortion.
Marc is a natural teacher whose knowledge and delivery style promotes learning in the most soothing and comfortable setting! Great job! How about more lessons from Marc?
Great hearing all those chambers back to back. Way back in the last century, I couldn't mix a track without a EMT250. Back then it was the number one, go to. Thanks for the demo! That Seventh Heaven sound like a deal these days.
Also, that’s probably one of the nicest looking mixing videos I’ve ever seen! He has a great eye for video and the color grading was spectacular! Very clean and inspiring. Makes me wish I were on that couch playing acoustic beside his dog. 🙏🏻 I learned a lot watching this! Thanks!
man! videos like this are so immersive to me! I've been coming to this channel just to reset my ears during mixing sessions and get my perspective back as to what legendary sound should be.
A fantastic showcase of the emotional value of reverb on the sound, and how it takes you to a different place in time as well as a different space! Thank you, Marc and Warren for helping us.
What a great presentation and as has been said the emotional value of reverb. The orchestra sections was beautiful. I especially loved the two Lexicon 480's with the slight pre-delay difference. Made it sound like I was sitting in the chamber.
“I don’t reflect for an emotional connection with” in regard to a reverb. More of this in music today! Please. Placing an importance on creative elements.. Creating sounds, textures, layers and elements you connect with.. creating and cultivating the vibe. So important. 🙏
Wow, just discovered this guy and this series. Gold. Such a beautiful and calm way of explaining and comparing things; no mad rush. Love it. Thank you!
Hey... an intelligent, savvy and sensible demonstration of software using actual... music. Let me applaud all those concerned, Sir. whatever the tweet of the day, actual music played by actual musicians wins. But, of course, you have to be good. Bravo , Monsieur Nelson, de Serge du Québec :)
Lovely informative video, I've always thought reverb's were misunderstood and undervalued. The right reverb with the right settings can totally transform any recording.
Love it. Learned something new with the left and right 480 trick. I really love the sound of Capital Chambers #2 with the 44 on vocals. These videos are great. Thanks, Marc and Warren!
Thanks again Marc and Warren! Another great video highlighting that the decision-making process is crucial to realizing the intention of the desired emotional landscape you are trying to sculpt for a production. Great stuff! - chaz
i LOVED this demonstration of vastly yet subtly different reversbs. What a lesson! Thank you for this illuminating display. I appreciate the non rock, non pop material as sources... TYVM Sir Warren. Thank YOU Marc!!!
I like Marc's template with the all the different reverbs ready to call up and audition depending on the vibe he gets from the track. It'd be cool to to do an in depth video on the correct use of pre-delay. I usually fiddle around until it fits, but its trial and error. If there's some science behind it, that'd be cool to see.
Warren thank you so much for posting this! I had given up on reverb because of how much they smeared my transients and just made my vocals all blurry. But Marc Daniel Nelson has renewed my hope! The "Seventh Heaven" from liquid sonics is a freakin GAME CHANGER! It just stays out of the way, and adds some natural sounding space! You guys are freakin awesome!
I find going through his thought process for his decisions to be much more valuable than even the technical details behind his reverb choices. Very cool and great insight!
Thanks Marc and Warren. You guys are really good teachers. Sincerely. I'm working on some instrumentals and I will probably be giving extra attention to my reverbs just because you guys felt like sharing something cool...thanks guys. Happy Halloween and have a great weekend!
Fantastic tutorial, as is his vocal strip video . As someone who uses Logic, Mixbus, Live etc and not Pro Tools, I only wish the FX presets were in their respective native plugin format (e.g. FabFilter, Liquidsonics etc) rather than the Pro Tools format.
Great tutorial. Thanks for this and all of your incredibly useful tips and tricks. Definitely changes the way I'll approach selecting reverbs in the future.
All your videos are so really well done Marc. Love your insights and knowledge as well as the relaxed, connected vibe you bring. Keep up the great work!
I was expecting Daniel to explain why and how he chooses each type of reverb and the parameters adjustments in different cases or instruments. Instead, I just found out that there are some amazing plugins out there that I wouldn't afford to get right now. Still I find his videos quite interesting and it's clear he knows a lot.
The Abbey Roads plate hit me in the feels hard!! It’s crazy that reverb could shift my response so much. I imagine that would’ve become a bit much for the first song over the whole tune, but it really sounded beautiful. The Bricasti (7th heaven) one sounds most modern to me. It adds a lot of space and depth but stays out of the way. Sounds less like an “effect”. Sneakier way of getting space and depth in the track :)
Just wanted to let you know I really loved this episode that you put out. It gave me a new understanding of some reverbs and made me revisited some old reverbs I like. Also it gave me one of those a-ha moments that helped me with a couple mixes already thanks again cheers
Very well done and really helpful, thank you so much ! What i will copy is not presets but viewing reverbs from their emotional impact instead of how they just work. What is not so good is that i actually have to make music today...but now i'll have to watch all of Marc's other videos :)
Thank you for the video! One of my favorite styles of reverb can be heard on the vocals of The Eagles' 'Desperado'. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like a gated plate reverb, resulting in an up-front, compressed sound will hints of long verb when the vocal is hit hard.
What are some of your favorite reverb tricks?
I dunno but I love plate reverbs the most. Also, I think spring verbs are cool and they can sound fantastic on percussion.
when you put an EQ in the Reverb Bus to avoid mud
Run a sweep tone with click at the end of it and change the reverb preset at any time until you find the best preset by ear.
EQing the reverb (HP and LP), feeding delays into reverbs, and automating them to create contrasts - such as drying out for an intimate part of the song. Have a great day! Thanks. :)
The 480 on separate pans is a cool trick. Trying to find the emotional connection in a reverb that is right for the song. Awesome tips.
My new favourite studio person - gentle, talented and great to listen to.
agree absolutly
+10
Who are the jokers giving this a thumbs down? This video is gold. Thank you Marc and Warren!
Thanks ever so much!!
The jokers are statstically significant for the scientific research of the mentally impaired.
I'm enjoying your videos Marc, totally engaging and I'm learning lots to help me in my own audio journey. Thanks to Warren for sharing too.
It’s most likely some failed producer wannabes that are used to doing things differently and consider their own feelings super important. Marc is the man, so inspiring!
A good demo - not just of reverbs - but of how professionals use their aesthetic judgment: carefully, with a clear head, and no ego.
Marc has such a calming voice!
Yes! Amazing!
Thanks, Philip
Well, that dog is not waking up.
Poke him with a stick... he’ll get up.
Totally agree. Such a great presentation.
Wtf. I can listen to this guy talk all day. He’s so mellow and soothing and his voice just has this nice tonal harmonic with just the slightest amount of natural soft distortion.
One of the best videos on Reverb I have ever seen. It’s just nails it. Thank you.

Dr. Dre is that you?

Thanks Nolan, They are getting better as new one's get finished.
Has anyone ever experimented with panned reverb ...two separate reverbs hard panned on a bus channel❓🔥🔥🔥
Marc Daniel is the star⭐️ of this channel💯
man! videos like this are so immersive to me! I've been coming to this channel just to reset my ears during mixing sessions and get my perspective back as to what legendary sound should be.
This is the most helpful video on reverb I’ve seen yet. The Pre-delay conversation gave me a “oh that’s it!” moment too. Thank you.
That double lexicon is legendary and my mind has been opened. Absolutely never heard of that- (I may or may not be using this all the time...)
Marc Daniel is Truly Incredible. He Has A true sense of sound. He has also done his Homework. I love what he he does. Thank you
Thanks Donnie. Nice of you to say.

What are these .tfx-files? Can't open mine in Pro-R in Pro Tools.
Thank you in advance.
This guy is the best. I do agree with him, that transatlantic reverb sounds so good it's calming lol.
Fantastic José!
Those 14 thumbs down is doing stupid tiktok videos. Da heck Bro. This is totally diamond.

What a great presentation and as has been said the emotional value of reverb. The orchestra sections was beautiful. I especially loved the two Lexicon 480's with the slight pre-delay difference. Made it sound like I was sitting in the chamber.
A nice lesson in subtlety; refreshing.

Reverb is really cool when you know how to use it! Great work to learn here as always!
Super informative, and he's so right about pre-delay! I've found that often it's more important than which reverb you use.
Predelay is always the key to getting a reverb to “sit”, and also ducking on long and dense reverbs
What a great idea for a video. When I grew up with my old tascam 424 portastudio I never had access to instruction like this. It’s incredible
This series is solid Gold. Many thanks indeed
+1 for Sea Change verb, to date easily some of my favorite ambient reverb sounds.
The 480 left/right trick with pre-delay i feel is just amazing.
Slick stuff
Best sound I’ve heard. Damn it was good
Wow, just discovered this guy and this series. Gold. Such a beautiful and calm way of explaining and comparing things; no mad rush. Love it. Thank you!
Marc, you are such an inspiration and a magical mind !
I just have to say I already loved the produce like a pro channel but You really add another dimension to it. I really like your teaching style.
Outstanding video and great to hear these different reverbs on the same part to hear the differences. Awesome 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Why is thie video so great! Really enjoy watching it again and learning.
Wow! Thanks ever so much
The 480 trick sounds amazing like a real blockbuster. 🤩 wow
The reel-to-reel in the back. Epic.
Thanks ever so much! Love the Studer!!

Produce Like A Pro, Kush After Hours and Rick Beato are the holy friggin trinity for music production and appreciation.
We're not worthy.
You’re very kind! I feel honoured to be included in such fine company!
Do not forget about Andrew Zeleno!
Always struggling with reverbs this is pure gold! Thank you very much!

You could try calculate the predelay based on the bpm, like a quarter note or an eight in millisecond. Or by feel
Beautifully sounding reverbs. Mind blowing! Really emotional sounding!

Marc Daniel Nelson is becoming my secret weapon :) In every Video great tips, great tricks. And always good taste in his musical decisions.
Great discussion and examples. Thanks, Marc & Warren.
Thanks ever so much!
This comparison video is top notch.

Thank you .. it’s the best reverb content
Great demo of those reverbs, thanks so much Marc and thank you Warren.
Been strugling to get the ambience right in a song i'm mixing and this video just gave the right mind set when thinking in Reverb... Thanks!!

That pro r setting was money.

Capitol chambers is the best reverb I’ve purchased to date! Highly recommend

Thank You Marc, so great and so much focus with which you explain you're way of approaching music to us. Its almost Zen! Love watching you do this.
So informative, love the passion he has for fostering emotions in the mix!
Excellent video on Reverbs.
I love this series! Thank you so much Daniel and PLAP!
Really great presentation!
Thanks ever so much
Nice one Marc, very interesting. Thanks for your insights.
I have really opted out of reverb and use delay a lot more now, it keeps the mix a lot clearer.
This guy the best kind of good I know!
Thanks ever so much
I agree the pre-delay makes the reverbs sound authentic.
Thank you so much for the always simple and detailed explanations and great examples.
Video production looking/sounding awesome!
Thanks ever so much
I like that idea of emotional connection.
fantastic video..... I like the delay's and reverbs used by "Lee Scratch Perry" and a lot of 70.s dub.... Also "Can" from the same era...
Terrific presentation! Thank you!
Thanks ever so much!
Excellent content, presentation and explanation. Thanks for the great insights!
Thanks ever so much! Marc rules!!
your tutorials are so interessant and I learn a lot from you, thank you!
Thank you for such a wonderfully presented video. I would love to see something similarly presented on delays.
Very subtle and huge at the sane time. Thanks a lot!
