that is possible, just get a tool called "SfmPhys" it aplies physics to any object, BUT the objects fall through the floor so you are going to have to use props as floors

Do you know if it's possible to save a bunch of models as "one object" to recall it later in another project? Is it possible with multiple bound models? Let's say - for example - that I've built a giant robot pirate entirely from wrenches, would I be able to save this and use it again later, in another map?

That's because SourceFilmmaker wasn't made for it originally. It's a problem we all have. Sadly you are stuck with it. What you could try is taking the animation of the ragdoll falling and making the time it takes to fall smaller. It'll be faster that way.
Record yourself with the player model you want, then create animation set for new model, select your player model and click ok then select your model in the animation set editor, go to the motion editor, right click it and press copy samples, then select your non-player model in the animation set editor, go to the motion editor, right click it and press copy samples. That model should have the animation of your player model
+Koru TF2 I think you should do that manually. Get the model of the spy without his head and try to animate that and just animate his head flying off. It's not hard actually and manual animation is normally the best choice, unless you have a lot of models you have to animate.

This doesn't work for me, I record running and using the kill command, but then in SFM the character is already dead right from the beginning.
