I live in the exteme southwestern corner of New Hampshire where I hobby pan in the Connecticut and Ashuelot River. You tell people that you can find gold here and almost everyone that isn't local thinks it's a load of crock...I mean, you're not going to get rich but there's plenty of flour gold, the occasional decent flakes...and over the about 5 years I've been doing it, I've found 15-20 pickers. The largest is .39 grams... I nearly passed out when I found it. It was in the Ashuelot River just outside Keene. Now, I know that was an anomaly because this gold is mostly deposited from glaciers...but they're there! The other pickers all range from basically no weight, to to .15 grams...but that one actual nugget is now on display at my house forever, hahaha!
We're about to try up in Maine in July. All the gold we've ever found I just let my buddy have. I'm not out to make it rich, I just enjoy hanging out with him. (even tho he snores like a freight train, next adventure he's sleeping in his own tent) I'd like to check out Jaffrey and keene some time. I'm sure there's gold all thru GMNF Vermont. But panning is just a pass-time hobby. Like fishing. I'm not good at it, but it's fun.
@@TheUglyPirate oh he'll yes! Snoring is a nono. There was a guy at basic training at Ft. Benning that was so loud, and wouldn't stop doing it, hat the drill Sgt had him detach his bunk and sleep outside in August. You gave me a flashback saying that. 😂
I found a solid gold pocket watch case metal detecting in the nashua river the thing must have been a couple hundred years old.. pawn shop gave me 800 dollars for it
Good gutsy vid...by the way, what's up with that classifier ? It would be great to show us a close up of that homemade tool...thanks , otherwise , for the adventure....
I lived in Nashua New Hampshire 20 years ago and went Upstate to the White Mountains upon arriving up there on the kangamangus highway I saw people down in the river with dredges I was wondering what they were doing so I pulled over and I went down and asked I talked to a guy who was using a dredge and told me about gold prospecting he let me use a sluice box he had with him and with a crowbar I turned over a large Boulder and underneath it while using a sluice box no kidding I found a pennyweight gold nugget he said that's like a small miracle that was in the Wild ammonoosuc River I learned how to use a gold pan can I advise you not to go as rough with the secondary to last panning as you try to settle the gold down you're going a little rough you can lose some gold the Nugget I found the penny weight a half a gram $7 at the time but today's standards at the price of gold would be like $25 for that small nugget also nice sluice box that you built
Brian Gingras, id love to have a dredge, but the cost vs the payout is crazy. I'd have to work every day. I just finished a new prospecting video, it's processing now. Thanks for watching.
Hey guys I live in Allenstown nh and just started panning and we went up to the Ammonoosuc River I had a hard time finding good spots you think you could help me out with some locations?
I am from Rhode Island, and I am taking this up as a hobby. I love your simple to the point explaining about how shit works. 2 thumbs up!

Stay away from Twin River... Go into the mountains and pick a spot.
By the Androscoggin River or by the waterways aroumd Mt Moosilaukee Highway area (exit 27 off I93 north). 😉
It was a lot of fun and I had Gold Fever
Where in New Hampshire?
If ya r a gold prospector it is knuckle hurting excitement!!
