- Hi friends. We were having a pretty serious wind storm-it knocked the power out for about 7 hours, so I thought I'd shoot some footage of my whirligigs in action. I hope you enjoy them.

Those winds kick up some pretty big waves on the river too. Great whirligigs, love it when they are all spinning and hunting for the wind at the same time.😳🙂👌BTW ...ordered one of those worm gear sets for some experimenting, thanks for the tip.

Hi Steve! Thank you. The rower is an awesome whirligig. Mine is still rowing away on my back porch. Check the playllists on my channel for videos on how I made my rower. The hardest part about making the rower is making the gearbox to hold the worm gears. I have gearboxes for sale in my Etsy shop; there is a link in the description. Thanks for stopping by. What do you do to keep the paint in good shape?
Hi musicman! I keep re-painting them. I also spray them with a clearcoat. Lately, I've been giving everything several coats of linseed oil before I paint them. I'm also finding out that the quality of the paint matters, so I've started using better quality acrylic paints. I hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by. Warm greetings from Wishram.
