- Video tutorial on how to install the Spyder Headlights with the LED DRLs on the mini cooper s r56.
We tapped these into the parking light so if you need to know how to tap those wires for another project this video will work for you.
I know the video isn't professional grade so let me know if you have any questions.
After re-watching my video I stated in there that you can wire fog lights to the parking lights. This is NOT true because then they will always be on you want to tap your fog lights into your fog lights or your high beams so that they are not on all the time. Sorry for the slip up.

To cut insulation without damaging wires, use a 'un-stitch' tool that you can buy for around £1. they are dressmaker tool, but are brilliant if you do lot of wiring in cars.
You are putting those scotch locks on incorrectly. Put wire into plain plastic close around continuous wire, push wire you want to join into hole until it hits stop, then push blade through with pliers.
Also with these lights you are fitting, do they put error codes on dash, as BMW use 21w lamps all over car and rely on CAN bus to operate side, indicator, brake etc. so when changing lamps, they put 'bulb out' warning on.

Do you still have the Mini? How do you like it? Did you have many issues with it? My 15 y/o is wanting a manual one. And I like the aftermarket headlights you out in.
I sold it, it got a bit too expensive to maintain for me at the time. I definitely wouldn't get a 2007-2010, they are all a bit maintenance heavy but those are the worst years. It might not be a great first car, the newer ones 2016+ are better if that's in the realm of possibility.

Looks great, I wish spyder did them without the washers. I know there are other brands but there led ring doenst look as good.

Are Laws different in US? Cars have to be made under Construction & Use. Which means that cars with Projector lamps MUST have self levelling. Standard lamps do not, Xenons must have wash facility, LED does not. LED still requires that self levelling function though.
Laws are actually different per state in the US, the state I live in doesn't even have vehicle inspections or emissions inspections so I could literally duct tape flood lights to my roof and run no exhaust and I wouldn't get in trouble 😂
Hey. I connected the lights according to the instructions shown by you in your movie. The LED lights work well, the dipped beam works well, the turn signals work well. The traffic lights work, but there is a loud sound in the headlamps. Are you like this? I apologize for my weak English language. I hope you understand the problem.
What year is your MINI? And keep the videos coming, there aren’t too many Mini Cooper channels out there.

I almost bought the spec D lights but read that they don’t have a dedicated high beam, only flash to pass. Do these lights have dedicated high beams as well? Is the only wiring you need to do is tapping power for the LED drls.? Thanks in advance

How have these held up over the last 2 years?
Looking to purchase these as well, I have a 2009 R56 base MC. Your video helped to explain the wiring which I couldn't find elsewhere. I wanted to ask if there were any issues with your high beams? Did you get any errors on start up? My cooper has stock halogen bulbs. I was thinking of replacing these with LEDs into these projectors. Any thoughts?
I have no errors with high beams currently, if you get a plug and play LED kit you should be fine, the lights are super bright compared to stock halogens but there are LED kits that will work without coding

Can you give link to where you got lamps from? I'm in the UK, my R56 has standard H4 lamps - which may as well be candles - I have tried LED bulbs, and ALL of them put bulb failure lamp on (even with resistor packs).

Did you have an issue with your car always giving you an error message for your exterior lights after installing those headlights?
These ones are still halogen bulbs for the main headlight so no error codes. If you have led or xenon versions you might need to get them coded to get rid of the light, a mini dealer or the Carly app can code it
Amd umm...the wire ummm....goes ummm...so right there ummm....ummm....and ummmmm gave me a headache ummm....
