Considering how Korean netizens overreact to every little thing an idol does, I don’t take their anger seriously anymore. They get angrier at idols dating than they do at actual criminals. Coercion is not good. He can express himself as he choses privately. Also, his dog's birthday and the political unrest are different things - should people not celebrate their loved ones just because a different bad things is happening? Nah, haters goin' hate. While I don't actually know his music, he acted in the correct way. Not everything always has to be about politics. Most of us are sick of people who always push that. He did well and should be fine in future.
