I think that the problem is for creative 1.0 is that we are REALLY limited with sizing props, prop manipulating devices, and (of course) terrain. If they give us a terrain editor, no limit on sizing, and more prop manipulation like rotation, creative 1.0 will become MUCH better. But it would make Creative 2.0 a bit less unique or useful, BUT would make it much fairer for console players.
Yeah,in console we cant import custom props but maybe PC players could upload it to some kind of "made by players" 1.0 props?
@@p-doggo5787 a mod and or community creations system is supposed to come out for all consoles and pc, a dev brought it up a couple months ago and mustard plays even seen a leak for a device that’s part of it
As a console it is not fair they have more memory, import, change texture animation I just want to experience it, heck can even change the thermometer island
Honestly, Creative 1.0 is a masterpiece. High-quality intuitive game development in a game you already know how to use. All its current limitations can be easily fixed with some variable tweaks and a few new devices. UEFN is revolutionary as well, giving its player base access to a slimmed down version of the in-house development tools. Creative however has matured very well with time. Watching this video made me realize how lucky I am that I still having super fun with Creative 1.0.
I feel like the problem is simply that the way Creative 1.0 works just makes it impossible or atleast very difficult to make stuff like that work the same way it does in 2.0. Like, how would terrain editing work in 1.0? Is it an item? A device? If so, how does THAT work? And since you're a physical character in 1.0, huge props or just messing around with props is pretty difficult thanks to the fact you're just a normal sized player character, not an omnipotent camera god like in UEFN.
In a way, I think Creative 1.0 may just not be able to get close to UEFN because they're still so fundamentally different.
I think the reason UEFN is so much less popular than creative 1.0 right now is because of the lack of xp in UEFN maps. Unfortunately, the player base doesn’t really care about the quality of the maps, just what they get out of them.
The XP im and saving is a huge issue for sure

@@dogboi76 Fair point, but there is definitely a massive proportion that do really just play exclusively for the XP. You could make the coolest map for fighting in 2.0 but people are gonna be drawn towards the ultra boring parkour gallery FFAs if they can get that out of it.
@@sonicrunn3r895 Also fair point. And to be honest blank superhero skins and starwands show much creativity half the playerbase has compared to the people that rock the skins and sets they dig.
Legit cant remember the last creative map I played just for xp. Sometimes I randomly get xp for just playing for certain times
I'm glad you addressed the fact we can't make our own or modify weapons, that was the biggest letdown I experienced while using the editor.

I think this is part of Epic's attempt to try and ease us into UEFN. People already find it overwhelming/ complex, the more features you add, the more confusing it gets. They're going to add features over time, but don't forget what we already started with is huge already... and also confusing too.
It's sort of like Creative 1.0 in a way, the way 1.0 looked at the start is WAY different from how it looks now. It used to be a LOT simpler, but a lot more limited in terms of what we could do. Now we can do a lot more in 1.0, but subsequently it's a lot more complex. We didn't get everything at once, just over the course of updates and time. The same will likely happen with UEFN.
As a console player, I am so upset that I can't create a map where He-Man and Skeletor dance to gangnam style in Bikini Bottoms

A weapon I have waited around 2-3 years for is the guided missle launcher. It is such a fun weapon and would really make it fun especially with vehicles.
Epic said it would return after it had all its bugs flattened out but that was years ago and still the most we got was a few of its sound files in C3S3.. 😢
4:53 I like that you can still see your character that way you still know you’re playing Fortnite. 5:28 I was also disappointed that we couldn’t even add stuff from BR that isn’t in creative yet such as the chug cannon and overclocked pulse rifle.
It can be nice to see your character in some cases, but it would be very beneficial to have the ability to edit the character anyway.
While it's obvious that UEFN will likely never be available for console, I still wish that at some point they'll give something new to Creative 1.0 so that it won't feel so outdated.

you can build in UEFN on Console.. but it takes a PC player to start the session. you can do 1.0 stuff while the PC user is doing 2.0 stuff.
The reason uefn isn't getting as many plays is because the good maps haven't been made yet. The engine is a big learning curve, and people are still figuring it out. Give it about 6 months and it will completely turn around. It's only been out for 3 weeks.

As a PC gamer who is ABLE to run UEFN effectively, I don’t have the energy to learn it all

It could do with a more retro creative 1.0 feel with still access to all the 2.0 features, and ideally console players to be able to plug in their console controller and build with it as if in 1.0.
Don't be lazy and try to learn it. If you expect things in life to be easy then you won't achieve anything.
Its not too complex just make your terrain in 2.0 and build the rest in 1.0. Its REALLY easy that way
I mean, it IS ultimately just a watered down Unreal Engine, there's only so much they can simplify it. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason some features were removed/ coming later is because they don't want to overwhelm us, so I think they're already taking it easy on us.
There's a sort of balance between complexity and features. The more features and stuff you can do in an app/ game/ creator/ whatever, the more complex it is. Just look at Creative 1.0! At the start, it was VERY simple, and now it's a lot more complex and advanced! We can do a lot more in Creative 1.0 than we could years ago, but at the same time, it's a lot more confusing and overwhelming for newer players. The same will likely happen to UEFN.

The graph of changes to come is the order they are planning to work on thing and hopeful timeline. One thing Epic has shown is they aren't really great with timelines, so however long it took to get a UEFN 2.0 Beta I would suggest adding their delay time to these projections also. I agree with you that it takes so long to save changes. I've decided to continue working with 1.0 until they've worked these kinks out. I plan to slow roll learning how to use 2.0. I think original Creators, especially younger players, should keep creating 1.0 maps. I don't care which version it is in. If it is a good map, I'm playing it. I'm sharing it. I'm faving it. So they shouldn't stop. Don't lose momentum. It is still too early to tell if or when we will actually have a fully functional, intuitive, user-friendly version of 2.0. There's so much experience and fun left to be had in 1.0. 🎉
@Mustard Plays, the prop mover has rotation on the event system but it doesn't work. on UEFN, there is rotation but is disabled.
Yeah but you don't need the prop mover in UEFN, you can just use an animation sequence.
I really wish the creative portals in 1.0 had like a uefn projects tab so you can load in the project in 1.0 and play with friends

One thing I don't like about UEFN is that they removed the guard patrol device. I've been trying to make maps using it and I cant!
I wish they would change the rule on copywriting where maybe it's okay as long as you don't publish it, or an option where when publishing you can say its copywritten and thus auto demonize it. Seems dumb to go after creators for messing around in their own Editor with no intent to publish

To be fair, they don't make the laws, you'd have to deal with the Government for that. When it comes to stuff like this, content platforms (like youtube) like to keep it vague because giving more details somehow makes them responsible too? And since mega corporations NEVER want to get in trouble, they'd rather keep it vague as possible. They probably set the rules as it is because you know some company or other would try and go after unpublished maps or something.
Though as far as I know, I think it's mostly for the specific case where people make copyrighted content (or just... inappropriate content) on their maps and post it on social media, not in game, just social media. Which I guess could get them in trouble? So that's what the "You can get banned for breaking rules even if it's unpublished" rule is for. I doubt in most other cases they'd deal with it.
And so far, I'd say the same kinda goes for the copyright rule in general. They only seem to enforce it when the copyright holders start complaining, they just reminded us when UEFN launched so we don't go too crazy before the legal hammer comes down.

not being able to use your uefn maps in 1.0 creative is a big shame for me, i converted a map so i could update its terrain and whatnot and discovered the hard way that i no longer have access to it without launching an edit session on pc
It's also such a bummer that a bunch of maps are getting copyrighted, just take a look at roblox. There is A LOT of things that aren't copyrighted and the experiences are copied straight out another game!
The reason for the IP maps is because while they have creative 1.0 under article 2.30 but they don’t have it for 2.0 yet which is extremely weird but once they do that it should be like 1.0 because they can’t get sued for copy righted maps if it’s under article 2.30 it’s a pretty long process since it’s technically unreal engine and that’s extremely hard because of how many developers use unreal engine for making games
1:40 They used to have it 13 and up but they changed it with UEFN, which is really sad because our team was going to try and publish our maps!
As a console player, I feel extremely demotivated to build, I haven’t got back on Fortnite after trying out a few UEFN maps. I also just can’t get a pc for a while. And I even learned UE4 (which is very similar to UE5) in High School. :(
Map creators cant update their map because changing booths dont work or game chat doesnt work which is a bug since the start and even due to the many updates we got for UEFN, its still not fixed
I think there should be a terrain editing device for 1.0. I mainly use a console and i’ve tried UEFN and I don’t know why you can’t do it with the L2 and R2
The thing is how EXACTLY would it work on 1.0? Because in 1.0 we're still using a physical character and not a disembodied camera that can act anywhere. The two are just fundamentally different, so in 1.0, would terrain editing use a device or item to edit the terrain? And if so, how exactly?

Along with the 90 day old Fortnite account, you need 21 days in Creative of the last 90 days. UEFN released March 22nd which was exactly 21 days ago today, so Unreal developers like myself that DID previously play Fortnite can only now start publishing maps (if you've opened the editor every day since). I was at GDC so I still have another week or so before my map will be live... but hopefully some cool stuff will start popping up soon.

there is a way to get friends on the uefn map, you are making. It's just really hard to get it all set up and changed and such

Yeah but that stuff is too big so better to save that when epic games can add more memory.

I’ve been waiting for creative2.0 since chap2 season3 and I’m the creative nerd in my friend group but it turned out to be pc only and that’s really heart crushing to me
Been at creative for a couple of weeks now because my nephew wanted a zombie map, enjoying it so far seen the uefn thing and was thinking this would be amazing I have blender I could design some completely unique assets...but I have it on mac, don't have a pc ....

With you talking about your skin being so different from the map is a good point, but if you have a space map, putting on an astronaut skin is really the only option instead of having peely or fishtick or something. I know they still look different from the map graphics, but that is the best option at the moment.
True but then, not everyone has an expansive Cosmetic locker... or even skins at all. So they can't really just pick a skin that best fits the map. Though obviously that could just further incentivise them to buy skins. Don't forget Fortnite is a free game that earns it's money from cosmetics, Epic has got to earn it's money somehow.

Ok, I find it absolutely insane that a 13yr old can go to fncs and win hundreds of millions of dollars but a kid that’s 13 sitting in there house can’t post a creative map like what???
I think Fortnite is becoming more like RUclips with user-generated content.
i dont like how there are SO many assets that work PERFECTLY in uefn but they are LOCKED so they dont shop up on the content browser and if we place them using a glitch we cant launch session(dissalowed object types includes "unreleased" props)
also ALL fortnite textures outside of chapter 4 are considered unreleased
I really feel that making money on maps should be optional and by making it so it is non profit you can still play it on your own and with friends. Personally I don’t make maps for other people I do it to express myself and to keep myself busy, it helps get rid of stress, the point of creative mode is creativity and freedom
The melee manager is also missing in UEFN, so I haven’t used UEFN since finding out.
My theory about the memory issue is that for some reason, the thermometer feature no longer exists. I can place a build on one side of the map, but even 2k metres away the memory doesn't change.

6:40 you actually can join. You have to launch the map from the editor, then once you're in, go back to lobby, after, ready up and it should take you to the uefn hub. Once you're in there you can invite people and once everyone joins you can launch it from the editor and they can join the map.
Won't let people actually get in, just says "failed to join session".
Rotation on the prop movers are coming soon because I have access to them and they are getting updated so it is being developed for Eg you couldn’t use channels on them but now you can
4:58 I agree on pretty much everything except this part, and this is a main reason why I am scared of Creative 2.0. as the future of Fortnite.
I agree that the skin choice can be a little jarring depending on the map, but:
1. It can be a little funny sometimes, and fun should be at the top of the Fortnite experience (I mean, what other game can a secret agent banana fight a giant, fire-breathing dragon?
2. I worry that with this addition, Creative 2.0 spirals, gets more additions than BR, becomes unfamiliar from the Fortnite of today, and just becomes Roblox with better graphics

I was so excited to create a map when i first saw your video, but i just entered the game and i played some of the maps on the creative 2.0 just to see what people already created at the brand new creative, and man... It looks dope i was more excited thanever, but when i tried to find the creative 2.0 to create my own map, i just cant and i think that makes no sense, since i can play it but i cannot create it.

Not having the ability to create AI pathfinding is also very limiting.
Everyone is sad about not having uefn on console but I have a computer and I can't even log onto Fortnite (I have a Mac).
This is, the reason why xbox or playstation can't play or build, is probably because they have limited controls and buttons so it would be a bit weird on how that would work, as with a keyboard theres several keys and controls you could use in UEFN but xbox players, they have very minimal buttons. So I really don't know if that could work, sadly..
They said creative 2.0 would come to console one day tho
Hey mustard I was wondering.. I want to start using uefn but I want a good computer which one do you use?
I have started to calm down on the none UEFN, but I still can never release my maps, I have this whole idea for a map, can’t publish ideas…
Console players can build. PC user has to start UEFN.. go to Lobby.. then rejoin the UEFN Session from the lobby. In the UEFN Hub you have to invite the friends. doesnt matter what platform. Switch works as well as phones. then the PC User has to click Play. Starts the session and map for everyone and they all have edits. then the PC user can click save and everyones stuff is saved. It does work.
They should make it so if you plug in a mouse and keyboard you can use UEFN. It would be a GAMECHANGER. Plus what about the brilliant creators that were like 13-17 who can’t publish/ will get banned. What do you think mustard?

Yeah before creative 2.0 you could be 14 and publish a map witch i gridded and got 1k subscribers and before 2.0 to apply for a map code the website was disabled for a couple months so i got my 1k subscribers and then when 2.0 released you now hade to be 18?!?! now am in a pickle cuz all these people on my TikTok want the map code and yeah.... i was thinking i could add them as friends and play in my map but idrk.... :(

Us console players also can even join friends in their own creative 2.0 maps/games even though they marketed that so much from the beginning of its creation.
2 things I don't like is no UEFN on xbox we can make maps on and my friend tried to use it and it's just over complicated

I love uefn but just waiting for xp and the save. i play a lot of creative but sucks no xp in uefn. i have a high end comp but i can't sit up much to learn having a very bad back. can't wait to learn and see uefn grow

UEFN needs some time to expand, as it's only been out for around a month.
If we sit back and let it expand, it will probably end up like Roblox where some games aren't obviously Roblox

my main problem with uefn is that importing a 1.0 map with mechanics into uefn, breaks all the mechanics
I'm a tiny RUclipsr who makes a variety of video types. I'm Mustard Plays without the charisma, surname, or subscriber count. But this is my hot take.
UEFN is not Creative 2.0. Its not even what Epic intended to be Creative 2.0. but somewhere along the development process they realised they could not release their vision any time soon.
So they released it too soon.
I'm not saying they haven't done the work on it. I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the developers. But UEFN is the Unreal Engine that's the back end of Creative 2.0. that's why it's basically Unreal editor lite. It's why it's not on console. And it's why it feels incomplete.
Creative 2.0 is the intuitive wrapper that will be placed around UEFN that makes it user friendly and accessible.
I'm someone who makes things in Fortnite Creative, and I make videos about learning fortnite creative. But I'm lost right now because I'm a console user.
I keep saying this, but UEFN is a powerful tool for making games. But Fortnite Creative is a limited GAME for making games. And it doesn't feel like work.
Plus a lot of 2.0 maps just don't work well on Nintendo switch consoles and it's sad that Xbox and playstation players can play them but not Nintendo switch players.

Well save the world is a whole different thing and I think if they do add the weapons it would be a great experience but there are just too many, alongside that people may try to make a save the world map in uefn
Biggest problems are the bugs. And not telling wich asset or what is causing the rejecting. I emptied my whole island there is nothing in it and still gets rejected lol
There are many good things but I feel like the copyright stuff did let it down as it doesn’t make it feel like unlimited possibilities if they want to get it to that stage they gotta look at games like minecraft and Roblox those games have all sorts of IPs in the game and people play them as they are sometimes better than the real thing if creative 2.0 wants to be better than them they gotta allow this kinda stuff into the game but just put it down to the player overall
Well to port uefn it would need MASSIVE optimization and there is still the problem with custom imports since you can’t really save stuff
Just as I expected, creative 2.0 would be the death of creative mode
really wish there was an easier way to learn verse maybe add an option to toggle on a visual aspect of verse kinda like the unreal engine blueprints I know we already have it for materials but it would be really good for programming as well.
I really think it’s weird that some guns we only have in some rarity’s while the have been released in battle royale
I do have a really slow pc but my console work just fine so i tried converting one of the maps I’ve been working ages on to UEFN thinking that i would still have access to it on my console, i converted the map opened fortnite on my console and bam my map is gone and now i can’t even edit or do anything cause my pc is so bad..
btw having all weapons that were in br would make uefn download sizes WAY bigger
but at the same time who cares about download sizes its liritaly uefn it crashes every time you want to paint terrain to fast download sizes are not the biggest issue
i was honestly a little bit disapointed with what we have with uefn for now the fact that you cant even change the camera of the player is so weird like we got a whole engine it's one of the basic thing and we cant change it that's crazy to me but i hope it he come soon
Player movement will come eventually, basically every tool and feature from unreal engine 5 and 6 will be in UEFN.
